Relationships between Gender, Weight, and Body Image: Effects on Stress Management and Life Satisfaction in University Students

This study highlights the importance of understanding how gender and weight affect key aspects of well-being, such as body image, stress management, and life satisfaction among college students. By examining these relationships, the study aims to provide information that serves as a basis for designing specific interventions to promote mental health and general well-being in this population. The objective is to provide insights into the relationships between these variables to guide targeted interventions for student well-being. Methods: A total of 100 university students from Chile (60% women, 40% men), aged between 18 and 25, participated in this study. Participants were classified into weight categories based on their Body Mass Index (BMI) according to WHO standards: underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obesity. Validated scales were used to measure body image, stress management, and life satisfaction. Descriptive analyses and one-way ANOVA were conducted to identify significant differences between gender and weight categories. Results: Significant differences were found in stress management and body image according to weight categories. Participants with obesity reported the lowest scores in both body image and stress management, while underweight participants reported the highest scores. Men reported slightly better stress management, but the difference was not statistically significant. A moderate positive correlation was found between body image and life satisfaction (r = 0.29, p Conclusion: Gender and weight play an essential role in influencing body image, stress management, and life satisfaction among university students. These findings highlight the need for interventions that promote a healthy body image and effective stress management strategies, particularly for overweight and obese students.

Management Communication in University’s Digital Library

Digital library is a process of exploiting more scientific methods to construct a social knowledge network. It represents an “extension” from a traditional library. The core and essence is to build a favorable surroundings for knowledge accumulation, knowledge transfer and knowledge communication. Management communication covers information transfer and organization cooperation. Compared with traditional library, the management communication in digital library shoulders the commitment to support knowledge innovation. On the basis of analysis of the connotation of digital library, this paper analysed the aspects of management communication, including communicators, communication styles, contents, channels and outer communication, all of which tries to construct an integrated model of management communication in a digital library and turns a library into an actual “knowledge fountain”.

Design and implementation of the system of students information management based on WEB

This paper mainly design B/S system structure and small information management system that often appear some problems of college student information management, combines the actual situation of students and student instructor management work. In the process of the development of the whole system, the main use of Microsoft.NET technology as a whole system of compiler environment, SQL Server 2000 is used in the design of backstage supporter＇ s database, were developed and designed by Visual Studi02005 tool, in exchange for page dynamically selected by the ASP.NET database and system interface between Webpage generation. This system has high reliability, high security, low input, so that the efficiency of information management students to improve.

Motivations of Using Social Media Through Smartphones Among University Students in the United Arab Emirates

The aim of the study was to investigate gratifications of using social media among university students in the United Arab Emirates. Adopting the uses and gratification approach, the study investigates how the students utilize social media to gratify their personal, social, psychological, and educational needs. The study uses a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 420 students from two universities in the UAE: University of Sharjah and Zayed University. In each university, two colleges were selected to represent art colleges and sciences colleges. The findings of the study show that 69.3% of the students are accessing social media more than five hours daily. 79.0% of the students access the social media through their smartphones. The main social media accessed are WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. The main reasons of using social media are seeking information, communicating with friends, consuming time, and following up public affairs.

Is This Development and Freedom？ Managing Sex Risk Behaviour in the Era of HIV and AIDS at a University in South Africa

This study explored HIV risk perception of university students. A descriptive study design amongst a convenience sample of registered students at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University （NMMU）, who gave voluntary informed consent to participate, and with access to the student portal was employed. Frequencies and percentages were used to describe categorical data. The Pearson correlation co-efficient （r） and Spearman＇s rank co-efficient were used to measure the strength or degree of the relationship between variables and identify the significance of the correlation between two variables respectively. Results indicate that males in the sample （n = 619） are more likely to acknowledge self-perceived risk than females. This paper concludes that management strategies should be put in place in all universities in order to help the students stay HIV negative. Unless HIV and AIDS are institutionalised, the management of risk behaviour will prove difficult.

基于B/S的高校学生缓考与课程重修管理系统设计与实现

针对高校学生缓考与课程重修统计审核效率低和数据错误率高等问题,研究分析了学生缓考与课程重修管理系统架构,利用B/S架构和SSM框架,应用Spring Security权限控制技术,结合MySQL数据库及Java开发语言,设计了具有高效、准确管理功能的学生缓考与课程重修Web管理系统,实现了学生缓考与课程重修申请、审核、下载以及审批统计与数据分析等功能。实践测试结果表明,系统运行稳定,管理功能全面,操作简单便捷,学生缓考与课程重修的申请与审核、审批统计与数据分析等信息准确,其功能达到了预期需求,为高校学生缓考与课程重修的信息化管理提供了借鉴。

我国高校学生事务管理研究的现状、热点与趋势--基于CNKI和CiteSpace的可视化分析

学生事务管理是高校教育管理的重要内容,高等教育的内涵式发展和高质量发展对高校学生事务管理质量提出了更高要求,高校学生事务管理研究越来越受到重视。为深入了解我国高校学生事务管理研究现状,以可视化软件CiteSpace为主要分析工具,对我国高校学生事务管理研究相关文献进行分析后发现,国内关于高校学生事务管理的研究整体呈上升趋势,研究热点集中在高校学生事务管理的中美比较、学生发展理念、专业化建设等方面,体现出从中外对比研究逐步转向新形势下本土化创新与发展研究的趋势。建议在未来的研究中继续加强对高校学生事务实践的微观研究,加强对高校学生事务领域的纵向研究,在研究过程中综合运用多种研究方法,在中外对比研究中更加注重本土适应性及创新。

The article interested in the universities in the global market. Author briefly describes the situation of the many universities of the point of view of education, research, orientation, system of financing and management of the universities. The whole article is based on the author＇s practical experiences. The research objective was to determine how the professional community is looking at private universities and state universities. It was based on the opinion of the quality of graduates and the number of academic staff who are working at state universities These academics have mostly negative view of private universities as well as the knowledge of graduates of these private schools. However, the opinion ofstaffin practice, especially managers in manufacturing companies, trading companies, companies selling services, as well as senior officials in government, are not so negative. By contrast in certain areas such as marketing, business, management, Information and Communication Technology etc., was rather neutral or positive. The politicians were interested about these information with regard to educational reform （reform of universities is still not actual--note the author） and the expected necessary cuts of spending to higher education from the state budget. Unfortunately, the research project due to political changes in 2009 was not completed and obtained only partial results. Despite of this fact the author decided to process the article below Opinions on the topic of public vs. private univeristies were mainly obtained informally from experts from academic area （both public and private）, managers, various specialists, but also from the students themselves. In conclusion man can say that the demand for people who are able to quickly demonstrate their knowledge in practice is still stronger. The title becomes second-rate （unfortunately not quite in the public and state administration）. Very strong demand is the active practice of communication in English （it fulfilles especially private universities） Graduates of technical universities in the classical fields are sought less in the labor market. Very high pressure is developed by state universities to private. This implies a lack of professors and associate professors who can work in full time at private universities which are more flexible and better adapt to labor market requirements.
