Abstract: A great amount of black rock series has been found in the Upper Sinian Members 2 and 4 of the Jinjiadong Formation, middle-upper Liuchapo Formation and the Lower Cambrian Xiaoyanxi Formation in West Hunan, w...Abstract: A great amount of black rock series has been found in the Upper Sinian Members 2 and 4 of the Jinjiadong Formation, middle-upper Liuchapo Formation and the Lower Cambrian Xiaoyanxi Formation in West Hunan, which is associated with periodic sea-level changes. By the studies of relationships between the distribution and development of the biota and the abundance of Au, Ag, U, V, Ni, Mo and Cu in the Upper Sinian and Early Cambrian black rock series in Cili, Dayong, Yuanling, Xupu and Qianyang of West Hunan, central China, it has been revealed that the enrichment of Ag, V, and Mo is related with the development of multi-cell plants and vendotaenides, and that of Cu and Ni is related to flourishing of bacteria and shelly fossils. The black rock series in the study area contains abundant organic matter, among which the siliceous shale contains the highest TOC, amounting to 4.51–13.4%. All the values of the equivalent vitrinite reflectance (medium values) determinated with the IR-spectroscopic method in the area are over 2.65%, indicating that the organic evolution was at an overmature stage. Due to the effect of enhancement of organic maturation by hydrothermal fluids, the Upper Sinian and Lower Cambrian had a reverse organic maturity profile in most areas of West Hunan. The enrichment of Ag, V, Ni, Mo and U is a result of organic absorption, and that of Au might be attributed to the migration by hydrothermal fluids.展开更多

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has raised questions about the shape of the world order that will emerge from this crisis.The general view is that it will accelerate trends that were already apparent in world affairs.Th...The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has raised questions about the shape of the world order that will emerge from this crisis.The general view is that it will accelerate trends that were already apparent in world affairs.The pandemic has hit West Asia with a‘double whammy’-the health crisis coupled with the collapse in oil prices on which most regional economies depend to maintain their political,economic and social order.With the region already enmeshed in serious conflicts-in Syria,Yemen and Libya-and experiencing widespread destruction and instability,there are legitimate concerns that the pandemic could aggravate regional divisions and,by design or inadvertence,plunge West Asia into a region-wide conflagration.Given diminished US capacity,credibility and interest in global leadership and responsibility,this paper argues that the pandemic has opened up opportunities for the exploration of new engagements and alignments and shaping of new leadership roles.The paper proposes that the three RIC nations-Russia,India and China-work jointly in a‘Greater Eurasian Partnership’framework to address their internal,regional and global interests.This will strengthen mutual ties within the trilateral format,particularly through resetting Sino-Indian relations,so that the RIC could become an effective instrument to promote regional security and stability.This revitalised RIC would then be well-equipped to pursue initiatives to deal with West Asia’s immediate pandemic-related challenges and shape and lead a peace process in West Asia.展开更多

Scheelite Sm-Nd and quartz Ar-Ar dating were accomplished for the Woxi Au-Sb-W deposit in western hu-nan. The results show that the Sm and Nd concentrations of scheelite are relatively high, and Sm/Nd ratios are usual...Scheelite Sm-Nd and quartz Ar-Ar dating were accomplished for the Woxi Au-Sb-W deposit in western hu-nan. The results show that the Sm and Nd concentrations of scheelite are relatively high, and Sm/Nd ratios are usually high and variable. In the 147Sm/144Nd vs. 143Nd/144Nd diagram, the disseminated scheelites show a good linear array, which corresponds to an isochron age of 402 6 Ma and an initial 143Nd/144Nd ratio of 0.510544 9 (2s ) with a e Nd(t) value of -30.7. The Ar-Ar age spectra for 2 quartz samples display the saddle shape. The minimum apparent age, plateau age and isochron age of each quartz sample generally overlap within errors; and both the minimum apparent ages of 420 20 and 414 19 Ma coincide well with the scheelite Sm-Nd age. Both Sm-Nd and Ar-Ar dating results reveal that the Au-Sb-W mineralization at Woxi district took place in the Late Caledonian. This is in good agreement with the tectonic evolution of the Xuefengshan district and with some geo-chronological data available for Au, Sb and W deposits in this area. The low initial Nd isotope ratio of scheelites sug-gests that the fluid responsible for Au-Sb-W mineralization at the Woxi is of deep crustal origin and probably originated from the underlying Archaean continental basement rather than the host Proterozoic strata in western Hunan. The con-straints on the mineralization time and on the fluid source provide insight into the genesis of the Woxi deposit.展开更多
