The link prediction analysis is to further reveal the interactions between polysaccharides, to elaborate QSAR of polysaccharides, and to analyze the network conformation relationships among polysaccharides. We made a classification for glucomannan molecules based on the related domestic and international theories, and investigated their network structures and application prospects. The knot theory and the link predictions not only simplify the glucomannan microscopic descriptions but also play a guiding role in predicting and regulating the structures. 展开更多

The design synthesis is the key issue in the mechanical conceptual design to generate the design candidates that meet the design requirements.This paper devotes to propose a novel and computable synthesis approach of mechanisms based on graph theory and polynomial operation.The graph framework of the synthesis approach is built firstly,and it involves:(1)the kinematic function units extracted from mechanisms;(2)the kinematic link graph that transforms the synthesis problem from mechanical domain into graph domain;(3)two graph representations,i.e.,walk representation and path representation,of design candidates;(4)a weighted matrix theorem that transforms the synthesis process into polynomial operation.Then,the formulas and algorithm to the polynomial operation are presented.Based on them,the computational flowchart to the synthesis approach is summarized.A design example is used to validate and illustrate the synthesis approach in detail.The proposed synthesis approach is not only supportive to enumerate the design candidates to the conceptual design of a mechanical system exhaustively and automatically,but also helpful to make that enumeration process computable. 展开更多

Alzheimer’s disease is a primary age-related neurodegenerative disorder that can result in impaired cognitive and memory functions.Although connections between changes in brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patients have been established,the mechanisms that drive these alterations remain incompletely understood.This study,which was conducted in 2018 at Northeastern University in China,included data from 97 participants of the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative(ADNI)dataset covering genetics,imaging,and clinical data.All participants were divided into two groups:normal control(n=52;20 males and 32 females;mean age 73.90±4.72 years)and Alzheimer’s disease(n=45,23 males and 22 females;mean age 74.85±5.66).To uncover the wiring mechanisms that shaped changes in the topology of human brain networks of Alzheimer’s disease patients,we proposed a local naive Bayes brain network model based on graph theory.Our results showed that the proposed model provided an excellent fit to observe networks in all properties examined,including clustering coefficient,modularity,characteristic path length,network efficiency,betweenness,and degree distribution compared with empirical methods.This proposed model simulated the wiring changes in human brain networks between controls and Alzheimer’s disease patients.Our results demonstrate its utility in understanding relationships between brain tissue structure and cognitive or behavioral functions.The ADNI was performed in accordance with the Good Clinical Practice guidelines,US 21 CFR Part 50-Protection of Human Subjects,and Part 56-Institutional Review Boards(IRBs)/Research Good Clinical Practice guidelines Institutional Review Boards(IRBs)/Research Ethics Boards(REBs). 展开更多

The derivation involves Geometric Calculus, topology, and field equations. This paper studies the effect of phase noise and fronthaul compression on a downlink cloud radio access network(C-RAN), where several remote radio heads(RRHs) are coordinated to communicate with users by a baseband unit(BBU) on the cloud server. In the system, the baseband signals are precoded at BBU, and then compressed before being transmitted to RRHs through capacity-limited fronthaul links which results in the compressive quantization noise. We assume the regularized zero-forcing precoding is performed with an imperfect channel state information and a compression strategy is applied at BBU. The effect of phase noise arising from nonideal local oscillators both at RRHs and users is considered. We propose an approximate expression for the downlink ergodic sum-rate of considered C-RAN utilizing large dimensional random matrix theory in the large-system regime. From simulation results, the accuracy of the approximate expression is validated, and the effect of phase noise and fronthaul compression can be analyzed theoretically based on the approximate expression. 展开更多

By using queue theory, the analysis models of the new scheme and previous scheme are presented, and the performance of message delay and that of system throughput are analyzed under two schemes. It is important to practical sys-tems also for link adaptation. Current algorithms for link evaluation are developed by simulation method, lacking of theoretical description. Although they provide some good accuracy for some scenarios, all of them are not universal. With the help of information theory, a universal principle of link evaluation is proposed in this paper, which explains current algorithms and leads to a universal algorithm to implement link evaluation for common wireless transmissions. This paper proposes an Extended Received Block Information Rate (ERBIR) algorithm for universal link evaluation, which is extended from current RBIR algorithm by the help of the principle presented in this paper. Mainly the universality and accuracy are highlighted. Simulation results verify all the algorithms mentioned in this paper. Both the principle and ERBIR are validated by simulation with various wireless scenarios. 展开更多

Thus, as this theory not only concerns the type of motivation, but also the circumstances that promote and maintain motivation, it offers insight to the nature of lecturers' motivation. The balkanization of reality by Aristotelian Philosophy has been a thought provoking exercise in the history of Western Philosophy. Aristotle's idea as conceptualized by Asouzu as Philosophy of Essence has been the central instrument for bifurcation and polarization of all entities into classes, such as: Essence and Accident, Matter and Form, Cause and Effect, Rationalism and Empiricism etc. This dualistic ontology be believes has eaten deeply into the mind of Western scholars to perceive science dualistically. In view of the above, the disagreement with Aristotle's compartmentalization of reality from Ibuanyidanda Philosophy (Philosophy of Complementarity) by Asouzu is an attempt to restructure scientific dualistic ontology into one unified, non-polarized, non-absolutistic, harmonious framework capable of fascinating unity in science. Hence, the subject matter of Ibuanyidanda Philosophy is to restore the broken unity between theory and praxis that exists in science because everything that exists serves a missing link of reality. The aim of this paper is to critically examine from the philosophical eye, the various critique by Asouzu on this thought provoking polarization of reality in Aristotle's Philosophy of Essence. We are of the view that Aristotle had to balkanize reality to solve the various problems of his era. Thus, if applied to contemporary scientific issues, it will lead us to no unity and growth in science. Furthermore, from Ibuanyidanda's perspective, we are of the view that its nature of harmonious non-polarized ontology is a breakthrough to contemporary scientific issues especially the debate within macro physics, theory of relativity, and sub-atomic particles physics (Quantum Mechanics). 展开更多

As soon as the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)was founded by the new government of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,the principles of“linking theory with practice”and“conducting research to serve the people”set the framework for its scientific studies.How to balance their obligations to facilitate national economic construction with their desires to advance disciplinary scientific developments posed a knotty problem that frustrated those who organized and engaged in scientific research across the country,and in the CAS in particular.Against this background,the slogan“let tasks lead disciplines”was proposed as an effective solution.However,how exactly to put this into practice became a pressing issue,as CAS scientists and scholars debated the relationship between tasks and advances within scientific disciplines.This paper examines these debates as they were carried out in the case of the comprehensive surveys of natural resources organized by the CAS,focusing especially on different understandings of the relationship between“tasks”and“disciplines”within the CAS in the early 1960s,and examining the impact and legacy of“letting tasks lead disciplinary developments,”with possible lessons for the formulation of scientific plans today. 展开更多

This study aims at providing explanations for how MNCs(multinational companies)proceed with their manipulation of resources and competencies in the entry process to a foreign market.To an increasing extent,such processes perform as a staging process of resource leverage.This study identifies three stages,using the multiple case study incorporating grounded theory:the initial stage,the adaptive intensification stage,and the advantage persistence stage.In the initial stage,an MNC’s entry decision tends to be based on the resource replication mode of resource leverage;the resource exploitation mode of resource leverage is used mainly in the adaptive intensification stage,and the resource exploration mode is used in the advantage persistence stage.This study suggests that these resource leverage modes incorporating their microfoundations can be viewed as a set of potential measurements for examining MNCs'dynamic capabilities in the entry process to a new host market. 展开更多
