In this study of temperature rising in vehicular twin-tube hydraulic gas-precharged shock absorbers, thermodynamic analyses were conducted via simulations.Equations on heat conduction, heat convection as well as radiation were derived by applying certain laws governing heat transfer;an equivalent thermal resistance network model of a shock absorber undergoing heat transfer was established innovatively;moreover, the shock absorber’s thermodynamic model of control volume system was built by using the first law of thermodynamics;and finally, time required for shock absorber to reach thermal equilibrium and corresponding value of steady temperature were calculated by programming. In this way,a lower thermal equilibrium temperature will be achieved, hence help to improve reliability of shock absorbers in work by offering low ambient temperature,by reducing amplitudes and frequencies of external incentives exerted on them and by increasing flow rate of ambient air passing around them. 展开更多

High-stability thermal management is critical for the measurements of high sensitivity for temperature, but also challenging because any small thermal disturbances could lead to unacceptable temperature fluctuations. The present work delivers a design for passive temperature control, customized for a component in the satellites for gravitational wave detection. A novel sandwichlike structure is proposed with the configurations of proper materials, consisting of a layer of insulation material and two layers of nanocomposite phase change materials, bringing an integration of heat insulation and absorption/storage. Its performance is examined using an improved thermal network model and the revised transfer function method(TFM). The basic results of the two methods are validated by present COMSOL simulations and available numerical and experimental data in the literature. An effective reduction of temperature fluctuation is achieved to the scale of 0.1 K, even under two thermal disturbances from different directions: a radiative heat flux of 20 W m~(-2)(inside) and a temperature fluctuation of about 20 K(outside). Moreover, the TFM is employed to analyze the effects of the frequency of thermal disturbance: excellent damping performance is obtained for over 3.2 mHz and the underlying mechanism is discussed. Overall, the present design is expected to be combined with active temperature control to explore more possible ways for temperature control with higher stability. 展开更多

To improve the heat dissipation performance, this paper proposes a novel hybrid cooling method for high-speed high-power Permanent Magnet assisted Synchronous Reluctance Starter/Generator(PMa Syn R S/G)in aerospace applications. The hybrid cooling structure with oil circulation in the housing, oil spray at winding ends and rotor end surface is firstly proposed for the PMa Syn R S/G.Then the accurate loss calculation of the PMa Syn R S/G is proposed, which includes air gap friction loss under oil spray cooling, copper loss, stator and rotor core loss, permanent magnet eddy current loss and bearing loss. The parameter sensitivity analysis of the hybrid cooling structure is proposed, while the equivalent thermal network model of the PMa Syn R S/G is established considering the uneven spraying at the winding ends. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid cooling method is demonstrated on a 40 k W/24000 r/min PMa Syn R S/G experimental platform. 展开更多
