In the feudal autocratic rule, any system implemented by the state will have an important influence on all aspects of the whole society~ especially it is related with the imperial examination system of education and talents. Once it becomes a ＂basic national policy＂ , the role in social development is incalculable. This paper takes the relationship between imperial examination system and Tang and Song prose development as the breakthrough point, analyzing the influence of thesis writing of imperial examination on the prose in Tang and Song Dynasty and ＂Eight great men in Tang and Song Dynasty＂ .展开更多

In academic papers, the most important part is the ...Academic writings, whether they are BA dissertations or semester papers, are important carriers of one＇s ideas and findings of their own study and research spheres. In academic papers, the most important part is the choice of topics which determines the macro direction of the paper. Important as it is, it is difficult for the English majors to choose the most appropriate topics with idea-invested thesis statements instead of some factual statements. Therefore, in order to make clear of the status quo and underlying obstacles of topic choosing, this paper is to study on 98 samples from China University of Political Science and Law＇s junior English majors. By observing and analyzing their writings, the paper intends to fred out some possible and accessible methods to improve English majors＇ academic writing and offer some insights for teachers to make some adjustments in accordance with the status quo.展开更多

Multiple sources of evidence were ...This study explored how six graduate students of a TEFL （teaching English as a foreign language） program learned to write their MA thesis proposals in English in a graduate course. Multiple sources of evidence were collected, including questionnaires, interviews, classroom observations, and presentation profiles. Data analyses showed that the students encountered difficulties in selecting a research topic, designing the proposal research, grasping the genre of the thesis proposal, and doing a critical literature review, but varied in their attitude toward getting support from their supervisors. By holding discussions with their supervisors, observing their peers＇ presentations on research proposals, and reading relevant literature, they eventually completed the writing of their research proposals.展开更多
