A comparative study of how Chinese ESL students and American students work on the same writing assignment that involves critical thinking

The paper compares and contrasts how Chinese ESL students and American students work on a same descriptive English writing assignment that requires critical thinking. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the similarity and difference between English composition teaching in China and English composition teaching in America in regarding to incorporating critical thinking, as reflected in the use of this assignment. The study uses descriptive analysis of student writings as well as quantitative analysis of questionnaires, student grades given both from the author and several other researchers who are invited to participate in the study. The cognitive abilities in critical thinking basically consist of logical thinking, dialectical thinking, and creative thinking abilities. The study reveals that Chinese students＇ works generally flow well and they use a language that is coherent and clear. However, the study also reveals that Chinese students have difficulties in implementing critical thinking at English composition learning, and the difficulties lie in creative and dialectical thinking. To cultivate critical thinking, we need to employ affective strategies, meta-cognitive strategies-macro-abilities, and cognitive strategies-micro-abilities. The paper concludes by giving concrete examples in the area of cognitive strategies-micro-abilities in order to cultivate critical thinking.

Research on the Flexible Yoga Training Mode based on Yin and Yang Theory of Dialectical Thinking Pattern

In this research paper, we conduct research on the flexible yoga training mode based on Yin and Yang theory of dialectical thinking pattern. Yoga become modem young people are increasingly keen on sports exercise program, at the same time, as more ferocious originated in India yoga culture, even beyond the native of the popularity of the tai chi culture in China, in view of this kind of social cultural phenomenon, the author think it is necessary to carry out the two of fitness culture contrast research, to more deep understanding from angle of culturology of tai chi chuan and the Indian yoga in development in our country, as well as the similarities and differences of inheritance, development and research of its better to provide theoretical reference. We discuss the combination of the cutures and propose the flexible yoga training mode which is innovative.

Teaching English in the song of music：Toward a systemic framework for using English songs in EFL teaching

Guided by dialectical systemic thinking, this paper proposes a systemic framework for using English songs in EFL teaching. It first provides the philosophical, linguistic, psychological, pedagogical, and empirical bases for such an approach, then outlines the major processes in selecting and preparing English songs in lesson planning, and demonstrates the main procedures and aspects of using songs in classroom activities. It argues that the application of this approach will immediately stimulate the learners＇ interest in EFL learning and enhance the efficiency of EFL teaching.

Tendency of Confucian Thought in Emily Dickinson’s Poems

Emily Dickinson’s poems embody both Confucianism and Daoism.Dickinson’s poems express attachment to earthly life and to family and friends;the poetess ponders over war from a unique viewpoint and she pays attention to the development of industry and technology in her poetry;many readers think Dickinson despises fame and fortune,however,some of her poems are full of dialectical thinking about fame and fortune.All these accord with Confucian thought which attaches importance to family and human relations and social affairs.Basing on some selected poetic texts,the tendency of Confucian thought in Emily Dickinson’s poems will be expounded in this paper.

Broad extension of the Five-wheel theory

Objective:To study the broad scope of the"five-wheeltheory"and perfect the theoretical system of the"fivewheel theory.Methods:By searching the literature,the five-wheel doctrine was extended in a broad sense,combining the traditional five-wheel doctrine and the related dialectical thinking mode of the inner five-wheel hypothesis.Conclusion:All the muscle fibers inside and outside the eye,including ciliary muscle and extraocular muscle,are controlled by the spleen.The soft tissues of the fascia represented by the suspensory ligament of lens,cornea,sclera,uvea and retina(except the components of blood vessels)are all dominated by the liver.The blood vessels inside and outside the eyes represented by the middle retinal artery are all controlled by the heart;the water and visual pathway represented by tear and aqueous humor(including refractive system and nerve conduction system)are controlled by the kidney,in which the secretion of glands is controlled by the spleen.The coordinated function of refractive system and visual pathway is controlled by the lung.
