Based on an analytical solution for the current point source in an anisotropic half-space,we study the apparent resistivity and apparent chargeability of a transversely isotropic medium with vertical and horizontal axes symmetry,respectively.We then provide a simple derivation of the anisotropy paradoxes in direct current resistivity and time-domain induced polarization methods.Analogous to the mean resistivity,we propose a formulation for deriving the mean polarizability.We also present a three-dimensional finite element algorithm for modeling the direct current resistivity and time-domain induced polarization using an unstructured tetrahedral grid.Finally,we provide the apparent resistivity and apparent chargeability curves of a tilted,transversely isotropic medium with diff erent angles,respectively.The subsequent results illustrate the anisotropy paradoxes of direct current resistivity and time-domain induced polarization. 展开更多

Experimental observations indicate that electromagnetic (EM) radiation is emitted after the detonation of high explosives (HE) charges. The movement of ionized atoms, particles and electrons seems to be the underlying cause. Expansion of the detonation products (DP) drives a strong (~1 kb) shock in surrounding air. This forms an intense thermal wave (T ~11,000 K) with duration of ~20 microseconds. Such temperatures create significant ionization of the air. According to Ohm’s Law, movement of ionized patches generates current;and according to the Biot-Savart Law, such currents induce electric and magnetic fields. We investigate these effects through numerical simulations of TNT explosions. A high-order Godunov scheme is used to integrate the one-dimensional conservation laws of gasdynamics. An extremely fine grid (10 microns) was needed to get converged temperature and conductivity profiles. The gasdynamic solution provided a source current, which was fed into a time-domain Green’s function code to predict three-dimensional electromagnetic waves emanating from the TNT explosion. This analysis clearly demonstrates one mechanism—the Boronin current—as the source of EM emissions from TNT explosions, but other mechanisms are also possible. 展开更多

For pulse-width modulated(PWM)DC-DC converters,the input voltage fluctuation and load variation in practical applications make it necessary for them to have better dynamic performance to meet the regulation requirements of the system.The dynamic-performance-improvement method for PWM DC-DC converters is mainly based on indirect dynamic performance indices,such as the gain margin and phase margin.However,both settling time and overshoot in the time domain are important in practical engineering.This makes it difficult for designers to obtain a clear understanding of the time-domain dynamic performance that can be achieved with improved control.In this study,a direct analysis of the time-domain dynamic characteristic of PWM DC-DC converters is performed.A dynamic-performance-improvement method based on eigenvalues and eigenvector sensitivity(E2S-based DPIM)is proposed to directly improve the time-domain dynamic performance index of PWM DC-DC converters.By considering a boost converter with proportional-integral control as an example,an additional virtual inductor current feedback control was designed using the proposed dynamic-performance-improvement method.Simulation and experimental results verify the validity and accuracy of the proposed dynamic-performance-improvement method. 展开更多

A new efficient parallel finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) meshing algorithm, based on the ray tracing technique, is proposed in this paper. This algorithm can be applied to construct various FDTD meshes, such as regular and conformal ones. The Microsoft F# language is used for the algorithm coding, where all variables are unchangeable with its parallelization advantage being fully exploited. An improved conformal FDTD algorithm, also integrated with an improved surface current algorithm, is presented to simulate some complex 3D models, such as a sphere ball made of eight different materials, a tank, a J-10 aircraft, and an aircraft carrier with 20 aircrafts. Both efficiency and capability of the developed parallel FDTD algorithm are validated. The algorithm is applied to characterize the induced surface current distribution on an aircraft or a warship. 展开更多
