It is extremely deteriorated in terms of salinity which influenced by many variables. Studying the relation between these variables and salinity is often a complex and nonlinear process, making it suitable to model by Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Initially, it is assumed that the salinity (represented by chloride concentration, mg/l) may be affected by some variables as: recharge rate, abstraction, abstraction average rate, life time and aquifer thickness. Data were extracted from 56 municipal wells, covering the area of Gaza Strip. After a number of modeling trials, the best neural network was determined to be Multilayer Perceptron network (MLP) with four layers: an input layer of 6 neurons, first hidden layer with 10 neurons, second hidden layer with 7 neurons and the output layer with 1 neuron which gives the final chloride concentration. The ANN model generated very good results depending on the high correlation between the observed and simulated values of chloride concentration. The correlation coefficient (r) was 0.9848. The high value of (r) showed that the simulated chloride concentration values using the ANN model were in very good agreement with the observed chloride concentration which mean that ANN model is useful and applicable for groundwater salinity modeling. ANN model was successfully utilized as analytical tool to study influence of the input variables on chloride concentration. It proved that chloride concentration in groundwater is reduced by decreasing abstraction, abstraction average rate and life time. Furthermore, it is reduced by increasing recharge rate and aquifer thickness.展开更多

In this model, expressions are derived to calculate two performance metrics, namely, the queue node and system utilization factors. In order to demonstrate the flexibility and effectiveness of the mQN model in analyzing the performance of an mQN network router, two scenarios are performed. These scenarios investigated the variation of queue nodes and system utilization factors against queue nodes dropping probability for various system sizes and packets arrival routing probabilities. The performed scenarios demonstrated that the mQN analytical model is more flexible and effective when compared with experimental tests and computer simulations in assessing the performance of an mQN network router.展开更多

Niger is located in the Sahel and has a land area of 1,267,000 square kilometers [1], with the closest port being port of Cotonou in Benin. The transport corridor from Niamey to Cotonou is approximately 1036 km long [2]. It is estimated that this corridor carries about 40 percent of Niger’s overseas trade traffic [3]. In this work, the Analytic Network Process (ANP) model is used to determine the optimal location of the dry port, among three major cities: Niamey (capital city), Dosso and Gaya. From the application of this selection model, Dosso was selected as the best location for the location of the dry port, while Gaya and Niamey were placed second and third respectively. The results obtained in this work strongly confirm the decision of the government of Niger to construct a dry port in Dosso, a project that commenced in 2010 and is still in progress.展开更多

A frequency-weighted network of Kuramoto oscillators is proposed, where the oscillators are asymmetrically coupled with the weights depending on their own native frequencies. Moreover, the characteristics of the whole network can be described by a single weighting exponent β. To obtain some analytical results, we focus on three special values of the weighting exponent β. Obviously, the network of oscillators in connection with the heterogeneous coupling scheme turns out to exhibit richer dy- namics. Our findings indicate that the weighting exponents should be of importance to affect the network's synchronization ability.展开更多

However, the data are often highly correlated among channels and consequently cause ill-posed and over-determined problems in the inversion. The correlation complicates the mapping relation between the ATEM data and the earth parameters and thus increases the inversion complexity. To obviate this, we adopt principal component analysis to transform ATEM data into orthogonal principal components (PCs) to reduce the correlations and the data dimensionality and simultaneously suppress the unrelated noise. In this paper, we use an artificial neural network (ANN) to approach the PCs mapping relation with the earth model parameters, avoiding the calculation of Jacobian derivatives. The PC-based ANN algorithm is applied to synthetic data for layered models compared with data-based ANN for airborne time-domain electromagnetic inversion. The results demonstrate the PC-based ANN advantages of simpler network structure, less training steps, and better inversion results over data-based ANN, especially for contaminated data. Furthermore, the PC-based ANN algorithm effectiveness is examined by the inversion of the pseudo 2D model and comparison with data-based ANN and Zhody's methods. The results indicate that PC-based ANN inversion can achieve a better agreement with the true model and also proved that PC-based ANN is feasible to invert large ATEM datasets.展开更多

文摘Recent economic crises like the 2008 financial tsunami has demonstrated a critical need for better understanding of the topologies and various economic, social, and technical mechanisms of the increasingly interconnected global financial system.Such a system largely relies on the interconnectedness of various financial entities such as banks, firms, and investors through complex financial relationships such as interbank payment networks, investment relations,or supply chains.A network-based perspective or approach is needed to study various financial networks in order to improve or extend financial theories,as well as develop business applications. Moreover, with the advance of big data related technologies, and the availability of huge amounts of financial and economic network data, advanced computing technologies and data analytics that can comprehend such big data are also needed. We referred this approach as financial network analytics. We suggest that it will enable stakeholders better understand the network dynamics within the interconnected global financial system and help designing financial policies such as managing and monitoring banking systemic risk,as well as developing intelligent business applications like banking advisory systems. In this paper,we review the existing research about financial network analytics and then discuss its main research challenges from the economic, social, and technological perspectives.
文摘In order to solve the problem that determining decision factors weights is of subjectivity in heterogeneous wireless network selection algorithm, a network selection algorithm based on extension theory and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) is proposed in this paper. In addition, user and operator codetermine the optimal network using the proposed algorithm, which can give consideration to user and operator benefits. The fuzzy judgment matrix is coustructed by membership degree of decision factors which is calculated according to extension theory. The comprehensive weight of each decision factor is obtained using FAHP. Finally, the optimal network is selected through total property value ranldng of each candidate network under user preference and operator preference. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can select the optimal network efficiently and accurately, satisfy user preference, and implement load balance between networks.

文摘In this paper,we introduce a visual analytics approach aimed at helping machine learning experts analyze the hidden states of layers in recurrent neural networks. Our technique allows the user to interactively inspect how hidden states store and process information throughout the feeding of an input sequence into the network. The technique can help answer questions, such as which parts of the input data have a higher impact on the prediction and how the model correlates each hidden state configuration with a certain output. Our visual analytics approach comprises several components:First, our input visualization shows the input sequence and how it relates to the output(using color coding). In addition, hidden states are visualized through a nonlinear projection into a 2-D visualization space using t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding to understand the shape of the space of the hidden states.Trajectories are also employed to show the details of the evolution of the hidden state configurations. Finally,a time-multi-class heatmap matrix visualizes the evolution of the expected predictions for multi-class classifiers, and a histogram indicates the distances between the hidden states within the original space. The different visualizations are shown simultaneously in multiple views and support brushing-and-linking to facilitate the analysis of the classifications and debugging for misclassified input sequences. To demonstrate the capability of our approach,we discuss two typical use cases for long short-term memory models applied to two widely used natural language processing datasets.

文摘Objective:Non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients often experience significant fear of recurrence. To facilitate precise identification and appropriate management of this fear, this study aimed to compare the efficacy and accuracy of a Backpropagation Neural Network(BPNN)against logistic regression in modeling fear of cancer recurrence prediction. Methods:Data from 596 NSCLC patients, collected between September 2023 and December 2023 at the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, were analyzed.Nine clinically and statistically significant variables, identified via univariate logistic regression, were inputted into both BPNN and logistic regression models developed on a training set(N=427)and validated on an independent set(N=169).Model performances were assessed using Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)Curve and Decision Curve Analysis(DCA)in both sets. Results:The BPNN model, incorporating nine selected variables, demonstrated superior performance over logistic regression in the training set(AUC=0.842 vs.0.711,p<0.001)and validation set(0.7 vs.0.675,p<0.001).Conclusion:The BPNN model outperforms logistic regression in accurately predicting fear of cancer recurrence in NSCLC patients, offering an advanced approach for fear assessment.
文摘This paper presents the derivation of an analytical model for a multi-queue nodes network router, which is referred to as the multi-queue nodes (mQN) model. The performed scenarios demonstrated that the mQN analytical model is more flexible and effective when compared with experimental tests and computer simulations in assessing the performance of an mQN network router.
文摘The aim of this paper is to select the best location for the construction of a dry port in Niger which is a land locked country (LLC). The results obtained in this work strongly confirm the decision of the government of Niger to construct a dry port in Dosso, a project that commenced in 2010 and is still in progress.

文摘The employment of natural fibres in fused deposition modeling has raised much attention from researchers in finding a suitable formulation for the natural fibre composite filaments. Moreover, selection of suitable natural fibres for fused deposition modeling should be performed before the development of the composites. It could not be performed without identifying selection criteria that comprehend both materials and fused deposition modeling process requirements. Therefore,in this study, integration of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)/Analytic Network Process(ANP)has been introduced in selecting the natural fibres based in different clusters of selection concurrently. The selection process has been performed based on the interdependency among the selection criteria.Pairwise comparison matrices are constructed based on AHP’s hierarchical model and super matrices are constructed based on the ANP’s network model. As a result, flax fibre has ranked at the top of the selection by scored 19.5%from the overall evaluation.Flax fibre has excellent material properties and been found in various natural fibre composite applications.Further investigation is needed to study the compatibility of this fibre to be reinforced with a thermoplastic polymer matrix to develop a resultant natural fibre composite filament for fused deposition modeling.

文摘The Kuramoto model for an ensemble of coupled oscillators provides a paradigmatic example of non-equilibrium transitions between an incoherent and a synchronized state. Our findings indicate that the weighting exponents should be of importance to affect the network's synchronization ability.

文摘Traditionally, airborne time-domain electromagnetic (ATEM) data are inverted to derive the earth model by iteration. The results indicate that PC-based ANN inversion can achieve a better agreement with the true model and also proved that PC-based ANN is feasible to invert large ATEM datasets.

文摘Monitoring, understanding and predicting Origin-destination(OD)flows in a city is an important problem for city planning and human activity.Taxi-GPS traces, acted as one kind of typical crowd sensed data,it can be used to mine the semantics of OD flows. In this paper,we firstly construct and analyze a complex network of OD flows based on large-scale GPS taxi traces of a city in China. The spatiotemporal analysis for the OD flows complex network showed that there were distinctive patterns in OD flows. Then based on a novel complex network model,a semantics mining method of OD flows is proposed through compounding Points of Interests(POI)network and public transport network to the OD flows network. The propose method would offer a novel way to predict the location characteristic and future traffic conditions accurately.
