In European thought and culture,there exists a group of passionate artists who are fascinated by the intention,passion,and richness of artistic expression.They strive to establish connections between different art forms.Musicians not only attempt to represent masterpieces through the language of music but also aim to convey subjective experiences of emotions and personal imagination to listeners by adding titles to their musical works.This study examines two pieces,“Scenes of Childhood”and“Children’s Garden”,and analyzes the different approaches employed by the composers in portraying similar content.

Title加TextRank抽取关键句的情感分类研究

考虑到不同句子对判断文档情感倾向的重要程度不同,因而区分文档的关键句和细节句将有助于提高情感分类的性能。同时,考虑到Title 和上下文信息,提出了一种基于Title 和加权TextRank 抽取关键句的情感分析方法SKTT,实现了高效的情感分析。根据文档Title 的情感权重计算Title 贡献度,考虑到标点和语义规则对情感倾向的影响;根据加权TextRank 算法思想,在文档正文中构建了一个情感句有向图来提取关键句;计算所有关键句的情感倾向进行情感分类。在4 个领域上进行实验,实验结果表明,该SKTT方法性能明显优于Baseline,具有高效性。

Video Game Title Translation Functional Translation Theory Perspective

The video game plays an important role in inter-cultural communication studies. However, few have ventured the field of E-C translation of video game titles. Within the frame of Skopostheorie, this paper focuses on the three translation strategies brought up by the functions and features of video game titles. When preserving the structure and meaning of the original title is possible, literal translation should be used. However, the fact that some translators ignore the context of the title causes rigid translation. Transliteration is recommended when the title is the name of a person or place because the meaning of the title is hard to be preserved by the other two strategies. Since there are cultural differences between China and western world, when literal translation and transliteration cannot present the meaning of the title, free translation should be used. Translators should bear the content and game play of the game in mind in order to free themselves from the formal equivalence for a properly translated title. Free translation does not mean translators can do the translation as whatever they want in the name of Skopos, they should avoid arbitrary translation. The aim of this paper is to help people to understand more about the E-C translation of video game title as well as the practical translation strategies and Sino-western inter-cultural communication.

Skopostheorie and the Application to English-Chinese Film Title Translation

This paper aims to explore the film title translation(FTT) from English to Chinese with an attempt to adapt Skoposthoerie as a guiding theory. Although usually short, film titles have a significance influence on box-offices. However, generally in China, FTT lacks a guiding theory. In fact, FTT is a purposeful activity. Among numerous translation theories, Skopostheorie is appropriate for FTT because, unlike previous theories, it enables the translator to employ various translational strategies to realize the main skopos. Its distinctive feature is"The end justifies the means". Generally, the main purpose of FTT is to attract the target audience(the Chinese audience) to watch the movie. This essay mainly classifies FTT into partial and total literal translation and free translation and, under the guidance of Skopstheorie, tries to probe into different strategies for different title types. In the introduction part, research background is presented. ChapterⅡ is devoted to the overview of Skopostheorie. Chapter Ⅲ is an overview of English film titles. As the core of this essay, Chapter Ⅳ focuses on the application of Skopostheorie to FTT. In order to realize vocative function, which is to call upon the audience to watch movies, intratextual coherence should be achieved. And abundant target film titles are adapted to explain that different strategies are employed for different titles. The conclusion is that Skopostheorie can play an active role in guiding FTT and in terms of Skopostheorie, FTT is in essence a process of renaming and recreation with certain strains to realize its vocative function.

A study of the disciplinary structure of mechanics based on the titles of published journal articles in mechanics

Scientometrics is an emerging academic field for the exploration of the structure of science through journal citation relations.However,this article aims to study those subject-relevant journals’contents rather than studying their citations contained therein with the purpose of discovering a given disciplinary structure of science such as mechanics in our case.Based on the title wordings of 68,075 articles published in 66 mechanics journals,and using such research tools as the word frequency analysis,multidimensional scaling analysis and factor analysis,this article analyzes similarity and distinctions of those journals’contents in the subject field of mechanics.We first convert complex internal relations of these mechanics journals into a small number amount of independent indicators.The group of selected mechanics journals is then classified by a cluster analysis.This article demonstrates that the relations of the research contents of mechanics can be shown in an intuitively recognizable map,and we can have them analyzed from a perspective by taking into account about how those major branches of mechanics,such as solid mechanics,fluid mechanics,rational mechanics(including mathematical methods in mechanics),sound and vibration mechanics,computational mechanics,are related to the main thematic tenet of our study.It is hoped that such an approach,buttressed with this new perspective and approach,will enrich our means to explore the disciplinary structure of science and technology in general and mechanics in specific.

On Movie Title Translation from the Perspective of Reception Aesthetics

Movie is a popular art which occupies an important position in people's leisure time. Movie title,as the most direct and accessible tool for audience to know about the movie,is very significant to attract audience into the cinema. Therefore,the translation of movie title cannot be ignored. However,due to the cultural differences in Chinese and English culture,the problem of movie title translation is obvious which needs to be paid attention to the translation and people working in movie industry.Traditional translation theory puts more emphasis on the important and authoritative status of original text and author. But this notion cannot satisfy the needs of movie title translation to the largest extent. Movie is not only a cultural and linguistic product,it also is a special commercial product. The ultimate objective of movie is to allure the audience into the cinema to watch and appreciate it in addition to provide the cultural information. Reception aesthetics,as a theory of literary criticism,gives priority to readers' role in literary understanding and interpretation. According to reception aesthetics,the horizon of expectation should be taken into consideration when the translation work begins to be done. Horizon of expectation is composed of the readers' or audiences' previous cultural norms,assumptions,and criteria in the source language and culture at a given time. Movie title,as a special text,is also understood and influenced by the audience's horizon of expectation. Chinese audience,before they decide to watch a movie,are naturally harbor their horizon of expectation about the movie. They will form their judgment and assumptions about the genre,plot,story,background about the movie from the movie title. These kind of horizon of expectation will consequently influence their ultimate decision to watch the movie or not. Hence,in doing the movie title translation,the translator is supposed to keep the audience's horizon of expectation in mind and try his utmost to achieve the fusion of expectation. In this way,the comparatively satisfactory version is likely to come into being and finally will live up to the audience's expectations. As a result,from the perspective of reception aesthetics,the author proposes three feasible translation methods of movie title: literal translation,free translation and adaptation.
