How to effectively address the problems of unified modeling, composition and reuse based on the multi-disciplinary heteroge- neous models has brought great challenges to the modeling and simulation (M&S) science and technology. This paper presents a top-level modeling theory based on the meta modeling framework (M2F) of the COllaborative SIMulation (COSlM) theory of virtual prototyping to solve the problems. Firstly the fundamental prin- ciples of the top-level modeling theory are decribed to expound the premise, assumptions, basic conventions and special require- ments in the description of complex heterogeneous systems. Next the formalized definitions for each factor in top level modeling are proposed and the hierarchical nature of them is illustrated. After demonstrating that they are self-closing, this paper divides the top- level modeling into two views, static structural graph and dynamic behavioral graph. Finally, a case study is discussed to demon- strate the feasibility of the theory.展开更多

However, the ranking result always has a big deviation with actual rank for the existence of unknown web traffic, which cannot be identified accurately under current techniques. In this paper, we introduce a novel method to approximate the actual rank. This method associates unknown web traffic with websites according to statistical probabilities. Then, we construct a probabilistic top-k query model to rank websites. We conduct several experiments by using real HTTP traffic traces collected from a commercial ISP covering an entire city in northern China. Experimental results show that the proposed techniques can reduce the deviation existing between the ground truth and the ranking results vastly. In addition, we find that the websites providing video service have higher ratio of unknown IP as well as higher ratio of unknown traffic than the websites providing text web page service. Specifically, we find that the top-3 video websites have more than 90% of unknown web traffic. All these findings are helpful for ISPs understanding network status and deploying Content Distributed Network(CDN).展开更多

The comparison of the decay width in the LH model with that in the standard model (SM) is made. We find that the decay branch ratio of t → cH0 in the LH model is at most of the order ~ 10-12, which is two order larger than in the SM. The numerical results show that the difference between the branch ratios in the LH model and the SM is generally sensitive to the LH model parameters, such as symmetry breaking scale f, Higgs boson mass mH0, and x = v'4f /v2 in our chosen parameter space, but relatively insensitive to the value choice of the cosine of the mixing angle c and the ratio λ1/λ2.展开更多

The response amplitude of each mode is determined by a balance between the energy fed into the riser over the lock-in regions and the energy dissipated by the fluid damping over the remainders. Compared with the previous prediction models, this method can take fully account of the intrinsic nature of VIV for low mass ratio structures on lock-in regions, added mass and nonlinear fluid damping effect, etc. Moreover, it is the first time to propose the accurate calculating procedure for VIV amplitude correction factor by solving energy equilibrium equation and a closed form solution is presented for the case of a riser of uniform mass and cross-section oscillating in a uniform flow. The predicted values show a reasonable agreement with VIV experiments of riser models in stepped and sheared currents.展开更多

Additionally, one of two mathematical models for mass transfer of chemical reactions forming copper matte in smelting bath and the other for parameters of smelting process were developed. The verification tests were simultaneously carried out in a pilot scale furnace and the experimental results show that these mathematical models are convincing. Thus, these numerical models are reliable to simulate pyritic smelting process for copper nickel mineral in oxygen top blown furnace.展开更多
