The Impact of the Integration of Culture and Tourism Industry on the Upgrading of Tourism Industry Performance

Based on the provincial data of tourism and cultural industries from 2009 to 2019,this paper studies the impact of the integration of culture and tourism on the economic benefits of regional tourism in China.The results show that:①The integration level of the two industries is generally low in all provinces and regions,and the regional differences are obvious.The integration degree of the central and eastern regions is generally higher than that of the western regions.②The integration degree of culture and tourism has a significant positive impact on the economic benefits of regional tourism.The influence on the central and eastern regions is greater than that on the western regions.③The level of informatization has a positive moderating effect on the economic benefits of regional tourism caused by the integration of culture and tourism.④Government intervention has a negative moderating effect on the economic benefits of tourism.In addition,the level of regional economic development,accessibility and tourism resource endowment are also significant factors affecting the economic benefits of regional tourism.The results show that promoting the deep integration of culture and tourism,promoting the informatization of tourism and moderate government intervention in the industry are conducive to improving the economic benefits of regional tourism. 展开更多

The tourism industry is a strategic pillar industry in China,and its performance evaluation has been a focus of research in the academic circle of tourism economics.On the basis of making clear the connotations of tourism industry performance,this paper establishes an evaluation index system for tourism industry performance from such five aspects as of economic income,tourism employment,tourism person-time,tourism industry and tourism transportation,and then adopts the entropy method to make a comprehensive evaluation for the tourism industry performance in Xinjiang during a period of 2005~2014.Finally,this paper pertinently proposes the strategies for promoting the development of the tourism industry in Xinjiang from such four aspects as of enhancing the collaboration between the tourism industry and transportation departments,strengthening the inter-regional cooperation on tourism in Xinjiang,making integration in the tourism industry and consolidating the macroscopic adjustment and control of government and the assurance of social security,in expectation of providing references for making decisions on improving the tourism industry performance in Xinjiang. 展开更多

This paper explores and validates the process of customer value creation in self-service technologies(SSTs)in the context of the tourism industry.As the self-technology has been gradually advanced,its adoption in the tourism industry has brought many changes.A new trend of self-service technologies has helped service firms to save the labor costs and customers’waiting time for transactions.The purpose of this study is to confirm an applicability and a design of the original model of SSTs and explore the connection between SSTs and creation of value perception through a confirmatory factor analysis in the context of the tourism industry.Furthermore,the results of the online survey questionnaire from 234 responses in the United States and South Korea are explained in this study.The results of this study concluded that five statistically important factors are related to customers’motivations to use SSTs and enable customers to interact with SSTs as“SST location and capacity planning”,“SST service quality”,“motivations to use SST”,“SST design”,and“SST encounter”.These factors may imply an important meaning to better understand about customer value during the adoption of SSTs in the tourism industry.Tourism firms may use the results of this study to effectively enhance how customers perceive value about their products and services during the usage of SSTs.This will help tourism firms’efficiencies on the adoption of SSTs for their business plans and help them remain profitable in the competitive market. 展开更多

This research explores emerging concepts of tourism education,training,and entrepreneurship development.Nowadays,the discourses on this theme have been growing in both developed and developing countries,especially to reduce unemployment rates through the education of young people.For this purpose,this study uses secondary data sources to analyze individual rationality and the creativity of educated young people for entrepreneurship development in the business sector.The analytical framework begins from the investigation of the tourism industry and the processes for empowering those people since tourism industry is considered as one of the agents of economic changes in developing countries,such as Nepal.However,skilled and trained manpower are required to operate well.The main theme of this study is that the aforesaid manpower can be developed with entrepreneurship skills by providing education and training in this business.This study entirely agrees that once the tourism industry is well run by removing the hurdles seen in this sector,there would be an increase in employment opportunities and a raise in the country’s revenue in addition to solving many other social problems. 展开更多

In this Web 2.0 era,various and massive tourist experiences and reviews presented on social networks have become important information for tourism research.In this paper,we apply social media to explore and study the tourism industry of Bamako,Mali.Over 2000 reviewers and their comments about Bamako’s hotels and restaurants from TripAdvisor and Facebook were collected.Also,we integrate official tourism statistic data and field surveying data into the online review dataset.Data mining and statistic method are used to analyze the data for purpose of exploring the characteristics about tourism industry in Bamako.And we find that:(i)Most tourists are coming to Bamako for business purpose,and they incline to choose the hotels with better service and security condition;(ii)Comments on social media would greatly affect travelers’choice on hotels;(iii)Most travelers are satisfied about Bamako’s accommodation services. 展开更多

Labor Flow Characteristics of Taian City in the Context of Rural Revitalization

[Objectives] To analyze and study the characteristics of rural labor flow to the tourism industry in Taian City of Shandong Province,and propose some measures for solving the problems of labor support in the development of rural tourism in Taian City. [Methods]The indicators were analyzed using the time series based on the relevant data on the labor employment and flow of rural households in Taian City in2005-2013. [Results] In Taian City,the number of rural laborers engaged in the primary industry decreased at the rate of 96 people/year,while the number of laborers engaged in the secondary and tertiary industries increased at the rate of 29 people/year and 3 people/year,respectively. The proportion of the three traditional tourism elements of transportation,lodging and catering in the tourism industry has been fluctuating,and the minimum was not lower than 30%. The recreational category was decreasing year by year,and only accounted for 1.7% in 2010.In summary,in the development of rural tourism in Taian City,the labor flow has problems such as low rural social security,weak attraction to young people,and large psychological barriers to returning to the hometown for employment. [Conclusions] In view of the problems,it is recommended to implement the rural revitalization strategy,attach importance to regional labor competition,give full play to the advantages of tourist cities,highlight product characteristics,increase cultural added value and improve the quality of operators to develop rural tourism. Impact of tourism resource development based on low-carbon mode: a case study of Guizhou ethnic areas

Background:As environmental issues become increasingly prominent,the implementation of the low-carbon mode has become the trend of future economic development.The implementation of a low-carbon mode in the tourism industry is conducive to the sustainable development of the industry,but at present the low-carbon development of China’s tourism industry still faces many problems,especially in ethnic areas where tourism is more developed.Results:Taking Guizhou ethnic areas as an example,this study estimated the carbon emissions of the Guizhou tourism industry from 2011 to 2015.It was found from the calculation of tourism consumption stripping coefficient that the total carbon emissions in 2011–2015 were 21.37,25.43,27.93,29.51,and 30.03 million tons,showing a rapid growth trend,in which the tourism accommodation catering industry accounted for a high proportion.Conclusions:Guizhou’s carbon emissions are increasing year by year,and there are still many problems in realizing lowcarbon tourism.The low-carbon tourism mode needs to be established from aspects of government,tourism enterprises,and tourists.The rich tourism resources in minority areas should be fully utilized to realize the sustainable development of the tourism industry. 展开更多
