Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)with diarrhea is a common gastrointestinal functional disease in clinical practice, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients.Cur‐rently,Western medicine has poor therapeutic effects, while traditional Chinese medi‐cine has unique advantages in relieving IBS-D symptoms and preventing recurrence. In recent years, especially with external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine,it has become a new treatment direction in clinical practice and has achieved good therapeutic effects. This article will provide a review of recent research on the treatment of IBS-D using traditional Chinese medicine external treatment methods. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the application advantages of problem-based learning(PBL)teaching method in clinical emergency teaching. Methods:Two classes of students in the five-year clinical medicine major of our university were selected as the research subjects and divided into two groups according to different teaching methods.Among them,50 students who received the traditional teaching method constituted the control group, while 52 students who received the PBL teaching method constituted the observation group. After one semester,an exam was conducted to assess their theoretical knowledge and first-aid practical skills, and evaluate their clinical thinking skills. At the same time,a teaching satisfaction questionnaire was distributed to evaluate the teaching satisfaction. Results:The results of the t-test showed that the observation group was significantly higher than the control group in terms of theoretical assessment, first aid practical assessment, and clinical thinking skills, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of theχ2 test showed that the difference in teaching satisfaction between the observation group and the control group was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the teaching satisfaction in the observation group was significantly higher than the control group. Conclusion:Compared with traditional teaching methods, applying PBL teaching method in clinical emergency teaching can achieve more significant teaching effects.Students’mastery of theoretical knowledge, first aid practical skills, and clinical thinking skills can be effectively strengthened, and it is conducive to improving teaching satisfaction. 展开更多

Accurate project progress measurement is critical for effective project management. Besides guarantying smooth work progress, it affords project managers the chance to identify early warning signs for peremptory remedial actions to keep the project on schedule and to budget. However, pertinent barriers can suppress the realization of the benefits of an accurate assessment of construction progress. This study aims to identify, examine and prioritize the critical barriers militating against accurate project progress measurement in the Ghanaian construction industry. Sixteen barriers identified from the literature were administered in a questionnaire survey to professionals with tier one construction firms and consultants. Sixty experienced construction professionals practising with tier-one construction firms and consultancy services took part in the survey. The relative importance index technique was used to rank the factors and correlation in responses of the two parties tested by the Mann-Whitney U statistics. The most critical barriers perceived by the professionals were 1) Reliance on Supervisor’s Judgement, 2) Generic and Non-Systematic Approach, 3) Variable Quality of Data and 4) Intricate Measurement Reports. Other highly ranked barriers include 5) Lack of Timely Information, 6) Laborious Data Gathering and 7) Quality Integration Constraint. The findings underpin the need to minimize dependence on subjective opinions and mere experiences of supervisors for assessment of project progress in this age of information technology. Incorporation of a level of automation into traditional progress methods will not only reduce human errors introduced into manually collected data but facilitate visualization of progress reports. Contiguous to a clear specification of the method of progress measurement in the contract document, a system that conveniently integrates cost, time and scope of work into progress measurement must be pursued. Addressing these identified critical barriers will consolidate current construction progress management practices. 展开更多

Amplification effects of soil site response can significantly impact ground motions, and must be considered in the seismic fortification of buildings/structures to prevent or mitigate this potential seismic hazard. Utilizing acceleration time histories from the main shock of the Wenchuan earthquake recorded at four stations (i.e., one on bedrock and three on soil) in the Qionghai Basin, the site responses from three soil sites are studied by using the traditional spectral ratio method. The bedrock site is selected as a reference site. This study found that peak ground accelerations (PGAs) on the soil sites are much larger than on bedrock, with EW, NS and UD components of 3.96-6.58, 6.27-10.98, and 3.17-6.66 times those of the bedrock site, respectively. The amplification effects of the soil sites on ground motions in the frequency range of 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz are significant, depending on the thickness of the soil layer and the frequency content of the site. A significant amplification occurs with high frequency components of ground motion at shallow soil sites, and low and high frequency components of ground motion at intermediate soil sites. 展开更多

Predicting the failure time of unstable slopes is one of the most pivotal issues. In this paper, the inverse square root acceleration(INSRA) method was proposed to estimate the time-of-failure(TOF) of landslides. Four collapsed slopes were presented in the three open-pit mines, two of them were probed by ground-based radar, and two of them were obtained from previous scientific papers. The inverse velocity(INV) method and INSRA method were adopted to analyze these four landslides and one slope which had great deformation but did not reach failure. Compared with the traditional INV method, the INSRA method can promote the forecasting effectiveness and has the advantage of higher accuracy. 展开更多
