In this paper, the author is going to briefly introduce ITT and analyze several examples to show different situations where ITT is either useful or unsuitable.展开更多

However, little studies have been done to prove how the skills acquired from ST can be transferred to other modes of interpreting, for instance,Consecutive Interpreting(CI). In this study, the sequencing of ST and CI teaching is explored to proof that starting ST teaching first is more logical. Gile's effort model is used to explain the similarities and differences of ST and CI and to set up possible effect of ST on CI. Some teaching strategies of transferring ST skills to CI are proposed.展开更多

Although many researchers in the past have endeavored to solve the OOV term translation problems, but none existing methods offer definition or context information of OOV terms. Furthermore, non-existing methods focus on cross-language definition retrieval for OOV terms. Never the less, it has always been so difficult to evaluate the correctness of an OOV term translation without domain specific knowledge and correct references. Our English definition ranking method differentiate the types of OOV terms, and applies different methods for translation extraction. Our English definition ranking method also extracts multilingual context information and monolingual definitions of OOV terms. In addition, we propose a novel cross-language definition retrieval system for OOV terms. Never the less, we propose an auto re-evaluation method to evaluate the correctness of OOV translations and definitions. Our methods achieve high performances against existing methods.展开更多

However, these translations have been of little value in assisting readers to interpret Emily Dickinson's English version of poems. Without the equivalent English versions of Emily Dickinson, these translators have been assuming a self-important role of being the best translation. Some of Pulong's translations have been analyzed to show that the best translation should be arranged in the following orders: first, the English version of the poem, and then the Chinese translation, followed by notes and interpretations. No translation can substitute the original English poems and Chinese translations can only serve the purpose of assisting Chinese readers know more about the English poems.展开更多
