For a long tim e, non-uniform bed load transport has been assum ed to be at capacity regime determined exclusively by local flow. Yet whether the capacity assumption for non-uniform bed load transport is justified remains poorly understood. Here, the relative time scale of non-uniform bed load transport is evaluated and non-capacity and capacity models are compared for both aggradation and degradation cases with observed data. As characterized by its relative time scale, the adaptation of non-uniform bed load to capacity regime should be fulfilled quickly. However, changes in the flow and sedim ent inputs from upstream or tributaries hinder the adaptation. Also, the adaptation to capacity regime is size dependent, the finer the sediment size the slower the adaptation is, and vice versa. It is shown that the capacity model may entail considerable errors compared to the non-capacity model. For modelling of non-uniform bed load, non-capacity modelling is recommended, in which the temporal and spatial scales required for adaptation are explicitly appreciated.展开更多

Recently 2D depth averaged analysis is familiar even in a stream with vegetation by taking account of form drag due to vegetation. However, the shear stress in vegetated area is not properly described because the resistance law due to bed roughness is not reasonably modified in vegetated area. In this study, we discussed the bed roughness boundary layer in flow with non-submerged vegetation to deduce a reasonable relation between U and u* in vegetated area toward improving the analysis of sediment transport. The results show that the modification of resistance law using by thickness, velocity distribution in that layer was found to bring significant improvement of accurate estimation of shear velocity and subsequently the sediment transport. The proposed modification is improved by 2D depth averaged analysis based on this concept, and its application is certificated through flume experiment.展开更多

There is increasing evidence, that the changes in both coagulation factors and platelet count regularly observed in patients with liver cirrhosis cannot be interpreted as a reliable indicator of diffuse bleeding risk. Instead, a differentiated view on hemostasis has led to the concept of a rebalanced coagulation system: While it is important to recognize that procoagulant factors are reduced in liver cirrhosis, it is also evident that synthesis of anticoagulant factors and fibrinolytic proteins produced in the liver is also diminished. Similarly, the decreased platelet count may be counterbalanced by increased platelet aggregability caused by highly active von Willebrand multimeres. The coagulation system is therefor stated to be rebalanced. While under normal "unstressed" conditions diffuse bleeding is rarely observed, however both diffuse bleeding or thrombus formation may occur when compensation mechanisms are exhausted. While most patients presenting for liver transplantation have severe cirrhosis, liver function and thus production of pro- and anticoagulant factors can be preserved especially in cholestatic liver disease. During liver transplantation, profound changes in the hemostasis system can occur. Surgical bleeding can lead to diffuse bleeding as coagulation factors and platelets are already reduced. Ischemia and tissue trauma can lead to alterations of hemostasis comparable to trauma induced coagulopathy. A further common disturbance often starting with the reperfusion of the transplanted organ is hyperfibrinolysis which can eventually precipitate complete consumption of fibrinogen and an endogenous heparinization by glycocalyx shedding. Moreover, thrombotic events inliver transplantations are not uncommon and contribute to increased mortality. Besides conventional laboratory methods, bed-side monitoring of hemostasis(e.g., thrombelastography, thrombelastometry) is often used during liver transplantation to rapidly diagnose decreases in fibrinogen and platelet count as well as hyperfibrinolysis and to guide treatment with blood products, factor concentrates, and antifibrinolytics. There is also evidence which suggests when algorithms based on bed-side hemostasis monitoring are used a reduction of blood loss, blood product use, and eventual mortality are possible. Notably, the bed-side monitoring of anticoagulant pathways and the thrombotic risk is not possible at time and thus a cautious and restrictive use of blood products is recommended.展开更多

Two different mathematical models were compared: a fully coupled formulation of shallow water equations with erosion and deposition terms(a depth-averaged concentration flux model), and shallow water equations with a fully coupled Exner equation(a bed load flux model). Both models were discretized using the cell-centered finite volume method, and a second-order Godunov-type scheme was used to solve the equations. The numerical flux was calculated using a Harten, Lax, and van Leer approximate Riemann solver with the contact wave restored(HLLC). A novel slope source term treatment that considers the density change was introduced to the depth-averaged concentration flux model to obtain higher-order accuracy. A source term that accounts for the sediment flux was added to the bed load flux model to reflect the influence of sediment movement on the momentum of the water. In a onedimensional test case, a sensitivity study on different model parameters was carried out. For the depth-averaged concentration flux model,Manning's coefficient and sediment porosity values showed an almost linear relationship with the bottom change, and for the bed load flux model, the sediment porosity was identified as the most sensitive parameter. The capabilities and limitations of both model concepts are demonstrated in a benchmark experimental test case dealing with dam-break flow over variable bed topography.展开更多

This paper proposes a case study concerning the application of a novel event management architecture, called EMH^2, to a fleet of trains. This EMH^2 architecture, which applies the holonic paradigm, aims to facilitate the monitoring and diagnosis of a fleet of mobile systems. It is based on a recursive decomposition of cooperative monitoring holons. The definition of a generic event modeling, called SurfEvent, is the second key element of the contribution. The flow of water is one of the ways of how particles can be eroded, transported and accumulated. If endogenous processes do not work, the surface of the continents would lower to the level close to the ocean surface and the relief would have almost no ruggedness. Recently, there have been talks about the relative classification of deviation of the present state from the "original" or "natural" one caused by anthropogeneous effects. The activity of man can manifest itself by pollution, the excessive use of water, a change in the flow regime, and the like. Research into the morphology of the river bottom and the bottom of settling tanks or dam reservoirs is systematically carried out in selected streams and reservoirs by the long-term sampling of bottom sediments. The knowledge of the sediment layer is also important. The EIS method, which was used for measuring, is new for the aforementioned applications. Possibilities of EIS method with new apparatus using for this application were tested in laboratory and in situ. On the basis of interpretation of the electrical conductivity data, a grid of depth data was acquired. These data are characterized by anomalously high and low "spots" and show morphological changes in the studied area.展开更多

However, warehousing and transportation of CBM become one of the core factors that restrain its exploitation and utilization at present, due to the space-time character of natural deposit and modem utilization of CBM. Th...The traditional fixed-bed reactor design is usually not suitable for the low tube-to-particle diameter ratios(N = D/d b 8) where the local phenomena of channeling near the wall and backflow in the bed are dominant. The recent"solid particle" meshing method is too complicated for mesh generation, especially for non-spherical particles in large random packed beds, which seriously hinders its development. In this work, a novel high-fidelity mesh model is proposed for simulation of fixed bed reactors by combining the immersed boundary and adaptive meshing methods. This method is suitable for different shapes of particles, which ingeniously avoids handling the complex "contact point" problem. Several packed beds with two different shapes of particles are investigated with this model, and the local flow in the bed is simulated without geometrical simplification. The predicted pressure drop across the fixed bed and heat transfer of the single particle are in good agreement with the corresponding empirical relations. Compared with spherical particles, the packed bed packing with pentaphyllous particles has lower pressure drop and better heat/mass transfer performance, and it shows that this method can be used for the screening of particle shapes in a fixed bed.展开更多

文摘Sediment transport can be modelled using hydrodynamic models based on shallow water equations coupled with the sediment concentration conservation equation and the bed con-servation equation. The complete system of equations is made up of the energy balance law and the Exner equations. The numerical solution for this complete system is done in a seg-regated manner.First, the hyperbolic part of the system of balance laws is solved using a finite volume scheme.Three ways to compute the numerical flux have been considered, the Q-scheme of van Leer, the HLLCS approximate Riemann solver, and the last one takes into account the presence of non-conservative products in the model. The discretisation of the source terms is carried out according to the numerical flux chosen. In the second stage, the bed conservation equation is solved by using the approximation computed for the system of balance laws. The numerical schemes have been validated making comparisons between the obtained numerical results and the experimental data for some physical experiments. The numerical results show a good agreement with the experimental data.
文摘Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS)have become a vital part in improving human lives and modern economy. It aims at enhancing road safety and environmental quality. There is a tremendous increase observed in the number of vehicles in recent years, owing to increasing population. Each vehicle has its own individual emission rate;however, the issue arises when the emission rate crosses a standard value.Owing to the technological advances made in Artificial Intelligence(AI)techniques,it is easy to leverage it to develop prediction approaches so as to monitor and control air pollution. The current research paper presents Oppositional Shark Shell Optimization with Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Air Pollution Monitoring(OSSOHDLAPM)in ITS environment. The proposed OSSO-HDLAPM technique includes a set of sensors embedded in vehicles to measure the level of pollutants. In addition, hybridized Convolution Neural Network with Long Short-Term Memory(HCNN-LSTM)model is used to predict pollutant level based on the data attained earlier by the sensors. In HCNN-LSTM model, the hyperparameters are selected and optimized using OSSO algorithm. In order to validate the performance of the proposed OSSO-HDLAPM technique,a series of experiments was conducted and the obtained results showcase the superior performance of OSSO-HDLAPM technique under different evaluation parameters.
文摘A part of the Earth's surface has been formed by the action of running water during geomorphological development. These data are characterized by anomalously high and low "spots" and show morphological changes in the studied area.
文摘Flume experiments were carried out to study bed load transport rate during rive bed scouring and ar- moring.A theoretical differential equation linking the transport rate to the probability of incipient motion of non-uniform sediment is solved. The transport rate is shown to decrease exponentially with time, according to the theory, which is in good agreement with the experiment data.

文摘The study of bed-load transport is of great significance both in theory and in practice. This paper discusses the saltation of bed-load solid grains in flowing water.Experiments and theoretic analysis have been made by means of high-speed photographing and advanced data processing technique with a combined method based on mechanical and statistical theories. It indicates that the saltation is the main form of the bed-load transport under ordinary flowing conditions. In the meantime, taking suecessive saltation as the mod- el of bed-load transport, systematic analysis has been made with regard to the kinematic properties and mechanism of saltation. The statistical analysis shows that the probability density functions of the relative height and length of saltation are in conformity with Γ-type distribution, while the probability density func- tions of the relative velocities of saltation are in conformity with the Gaussian distribution.

文摘In extended-reach or long-horizontal drilling, cuttings usually deposit at the bottom of the annulus.Once cuttings accumulate to a certain thickness, complex problems such as excessive torque and drag, tubing buckling, and pipe stuck probably occur, which results in a lot of non-productive time and remedial operations.Cuttings bed remover can efficiently destroy deposited cuttings in time through hydraulic and mechanical stirring effects. This paper aims to build a method for hole cleaning evaluation and installation spacing optimization of cuttings bed remover to improve the wellbore cleaning effect.Firstly,a Computational Fluid Dynamics approach with Eulerian—Eulerian multiphase model was utilized to investigate the mechanism of cuttings transportation, and a new type of cuttings bed remover was designed.Next,an evaluation method of hole cleaning effect of remover was established. After that, the effects of several drilling parameters on hole cleaning including flow rate of drilling fluid, rotational speed of drillpipe, rate of penetration, wellbore size, rheological property of drilling fluid, and remover eccentricity on the performance of cuttings bed remover were investigated. The results demonstrate that the new type of remover with streamline blade performs better than conventional removers. The efficiency of hole cleaning is greatly improved by increasing the rotational speed of drillpipe, flow rate of drilling fluid, remover eccentricity, and 6 rpm Fann dial reading for drilling fluid. While higher rate of penetration and large wellbore size result in worse hole cleaning. These findings can serve as an important guide for the structure optimization design of cuttings bed remover and installation spacing of removers.

文摘The traditional fixed-bed reactor design is usually not suitable for the low tube-to-particle diameter ratios(N = D/d b 8) where the local phenomena of channeling near the wall and backflow in the bed are dominant. Compared with spherical particles, the packed bed packing with pentaphyllous particles has lower pressure drop and better heat/mass transfer performance, and it shows that this method can be used for the screening of particle shapes in a fixed bed.
