Based on preliminary study, tourists tend to make reservations through online travel agents (OTA). Therefore, there is a tendency if the villa manager in North Kuta district makes promotion through OTA. The aim of this research is to explain and analyze the dominant factors that influence the perception of villa managers in North Kuta district on using OTA as marketing media. The population in this research is composed of 191 villas. The final sample villas, using Slovin formula, were chosen based on cluster proportional sampling technique, totally 66 unit villas. Respondent in this research is the villa manager of each sample villa, so there are as much as 66 respondents. For data analysis, we used confirmatory factor analysis and descriptive statistics. In general, the perception of managers in North Kuta district on the use of OTA as marketing media is strongly agree or strongly positive with an average value of 4.37. The analysis of factors simultaneously showed that the perception of villa managers in North Kuta district on the use of OTA is determined by three factors, namely, factor in the self-perception of villa manager (F 1), the factors in the self-perception of OTA (F2), and situational factors (F3).展开更多

Recent research on dark tourism has raised the possibility that people are attracted to death and memorial sites in ways different from other tourist attractions. The study used an empirical research design employing questionnaires to collect data from 255 Chinese domestic visitors at seismic memorial sites in west Sichuan. Analysis revealed that the obligation of commemoration mixed with curiosity represents a different set of travel motivation in dark tourism settings than in other kinds of tourism. In addition, the empirical evidence also suggests an interrelated pattern between motivations, experiences and benefits. This study implies that Chinese domestic tourists were attracted in ways different from other tourist attractions both because they tended to fulfill their obligation of commemoration and were interested in destruction; and visitor experiences played an important mediating role between travel motivations and benefits gained.展开更多

However traveling abroad and staying in an unfamiliar environment with inadequate medical infrastructure exposes volunteers to a wide range of health risks. The aim of this study was to clarify the relationships among disease knowledge and symptoms, disease risk perception, and self-management skills. Methods: This was a questionnaire survey of 189 Japanese who were preparing to volunteer abroad. A factor analysis was conducted on 13 items (six general risk events and seven major diseases) of risk perception. Correlation analysis was performed between the identified risk perception factors and disease knowledge and symptoms. Risk perception scores by factors from the seven disease items were compared between the Self-management Score (SMS) group and disease knowledge and risk of symptoms group, using T-tests. St. Luke’s International University Ethics Committee (19-A092) approved this study. Results: Many participants expected to suffer from digestive diseases (69.3%) and dermatitis (55%) in the field. On the other hand, few expected high risk of malaria (26.5%) or dengue fever (36%). Factor analysis yielded robust factor loadings creating a “Dread” and an “Unknown” factor accounting for 62.2% of total variance. Strong correlation was not found between SMS and disease risk perception. A weak negative correlation was observed in dengue fever, digestive disorders, and dermatitis (r = −0.20 to −0.25, p < 0.001) on the “Unknown” factor. A high SMS score was associated with a lower “Unknown” factor score for malaria, diarrhea, dermatitis, and dental disorders. In addition, higher disease knowledge was significantly associated with higher “Dread” factor score for dental disorders. Conclusions: Self-management skills and disease knowledge will enable higher risk awareness of common diseases and high lethality diseases.展开更多
