Gamma-ray radiation has always been a convenient and effective way to modify the inter- facial properties in polymer blends. In this work, a small amount of trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) was incorporated into poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/random terpolymer elastomer (ST2000) blends by melt-blending. The existence of TMPTA would induce the crosslinking of PET and ST2000 molecular chains at high temperatures of blend- ing, resulting in the improvement in the impact strength but the loss in the tensile strength. When the PET/ST2000 blends were irradiated by gamma-ray radiation, the integrated me- chanical properties could be enhanced significantly at a high absorbed dose. The irradiated sample at a dose of 100 kGy even couldn't be broken under the impact test load, and at the same time, has nearly no loss of tensile strength. Based on the analysis of the impact- fractured surface morphologies of the blends, it can be concluded that gamma-ray radiation at high absorbed dose can further in situ enhance the interfacial adhesion by promoting the crosslinking reactions of TMPTA and polymer chains. As a result, the toughness and strength of PET/ST2000 blend could be dramatically improved. This work provides a facial and practical way to the fabrication of polymer blends with high toughness and strength. 展开更多

A novel photosensitive prepolymer of trimethylolpropane triglycidylether triacrylate was synthesized by utilizing trimethylolpropane triglycidylether and acrylic acid as two starting materials, triphenyl phosphine as catalyst and p-hydroxyanisole as inhibitor. The optimum synthesis conditions were that the concentration of triphenyl phosphine was 0.85wt% of reactants, the concentration of p-hydroxyanisole was 0.3wt% of reactants, and the reaction temperature was at 90-110 ℃. Benzil dimethyl ketal of a UV-cured initiator was added to the synthesized trimethylolpropane triglycidylether triacrylate to prepare a kind of UV-cured coating. The mechanical properties of the UV-cured films were determined, giving 28.43 MPa of tensile strength, 965.59MPa of (Young's) modulus and 4.10% of elongation at tear. 展开更多

To improve the physiochemical properties of gellan gum(GG), GG was modified with acrylamide and trimethylolpropane triglycidyl ether(TTE). The structure and morphology of modified GG were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction(XRD), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The characteristic peaks at 3448, 2788, 1654, 1411, 1117 and 1044 cm-1)in the FT-IR spectrum confirm the modification. The XRD and DSC data revealed that the modification enhanced the thermal stability of GG. SEM analysis suggested the modification introduced a porous microstructure, resulting in the adsorption of crystal violet. In addition, the adsorption capacity, thermal stability and swelling property of GGTTE3 were superior to GGTTE1, GGTTE2, GGTTE4 and GGTTE5. 展开更多

Photoinitiated crosslinking of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) blends filled with calcium carbonate, talc and calcined kaolin (CK) in the presence of benzil dimethyl ketal as photoinitiator and trimethylolpropane triacrylate as crosslinker and their related properties have been studied by different analytical methods, The results from gel content and heat extension determination show that the efficiency ofphotocrosslinking of EPDM increases with increasing the content of diene and its molecular weight. The EPDM blends with 100 phr different inorganic fillers can be photocrosslinked to gel content of above 60% by 5 s UV-irradiation under optimum conditions. Under the same conditions of irradiation, the orders of photocrosslinking rate and final gel content are EPDM/CaCO3 〉 EPDM/talc 〉 EPDM/CK. The data from thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, electrical properties, mechanical tests and scanning electron microscopy show that UV irradiation crosslinking apparently enhances the thermal stability, mechanical properties and electrical properties of the photocrosslinked EPDM/inorganic filler samples. Although the attenuated total-reflection FTIR data show that inorganic fillers can promote the surface photo-oxidation of EPDM/inorganic filler samples with increasing the irradiation time, the above related properties of the photocrosslinked EPDM blends irradiated within 5 s are enough to satisfy many applications in the cable industry. 展开更多

In order to evaluate the thermal oxidation degradation behavior of lubricant with different antioxidants, the thermal kinetics equation based on the anlyses of thermogravimetry(TG),differential thermal analysis(DTA),and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)was established, respectively,to calculate the activation energy of lubricant thermal-oxidative reaction. The thermal analyses of TG and DTA were employed to determine the thermal decomposition properties of ester oils trimethylolpropane trioleate(TMPTO)with butyl-octyl-diphenylamine/octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoate/amine-phenol combination antioxidant. The activation energy of the lubricating oil adding antioxidant is increased relative to the TMPTO base oil,and the order of activation energy are Ec(93.732 kJ·mol^(-1))>Ed(88.71 kJ·mol^(-1))>Eb(58.41 kJ·mol^(-1))>Ea(46.32 kJ·mol^(-1)).The experimental results show that octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoate in TMPTO has favorable resistance to thermal oxidation and decomposition. The thermal analysis method of DSC accurately reflects the heat exchange of lubricant thermal-oxidative reaction. The order of activation energy is calculated to ED(144.385 kJ·mol^(-1))>EC(110.05 kJ·mol^(-1))>EB(97.187 kJ·mol^(-1))>EA(66.02 kJ·mol^(-1)).It is illustrated that the amine-phenol combination antioxidant has the best thermal oxidation resistance, which is the same as what the oxidation onset temperature effected. 展开更多

Aromatic-aliphatic polyols were obtained previously from the thiol-ene reactions of propoxylated cardanol with hydroxyalkyl mercaptans;these aromatic-aliphatic polyols were then utilized in the preparation of rigid polyurethane foams with excellent properties. The current work describes a variant of cardanol polyol synthesis by thiol-ene reactions in three steps. The first step is propoxylation of cardanol by reacting cardanol with propylene oxide;the second step is mercaptanization of propoxylated cardanol by reacting double bonds with hydrogen sulfide;and the third step involves the addition of the thiol groups of mercaptanized propoxylated cardanol to the double bonds of allyl alcohol,glycerol-1-allyl ether, and trimethylolpropane allyl ether. Thus, obtained polyols were characterized by standard analytical methods.Rigid polyurethane foams prepared from these polyols show promising physical-mechanical properties. The rigid polyurethane foams can be used for various applications such as thermo-insulation of freezers, storage tanks and pipes for food and chemical industries, wood substitutes and flotation materials. 展开更多

Due to their great potential in wearable and portable electronics, flexible perovskite solar cells(FPSCs)have been extensively studied. The major challenges in the practical applications of FPSCs are efficiency, operational stability, and mechanical stability.Herein,we developed a facile approach by incorporating a cross-linking oligomer of trimethylolpropane ethoxylate triacrylate(TET)into perovskite films to simultaneously enhance the power conversion efficiency(PCE)and stability of FPSCs.A PCE of 20.32%was achieved, which are among the best results for the inverted FPSCs.Both mechanical and environmental stabilities were improved for the TET-incorporated FPSCs.In particular, the PCE retained approximately87%of its initial value after 20,000 bending cycles at a radius of 4 mm.The inverted FPSCs retained 85%of the initial PCE after 500 h storage at 85°C and 90%after 900 h continuous one-sun illumination.A joint experiment–theory analysis ascribed the underlying mechanism to the reduced defect densities, improved crystallinity, and stability of the perovskite absorbers on flexible substrates caused by TET incorporation. 展开更多
