In the present work,the solubility of water vapour in tundish slag has been studied in the temperature range from 1 400 C to 1 600 C by a thermogravimetric technique.The water vapour capacity of the slags was calculat...In the present work,the solubility of water vapour in tundish slag has been studied in the temperature range from 1 400 C to 1 600 C by a thermogravimetric technique.The water vapour capacity of the slags was calculated and compared with the data from earlier studies.The results confirm that the solubility of water vapour in slags increases with increasing water vapour pressure.The relation between the two parameters obeys Sievert’s law.For slags with optical basicities from 0.5 to 0.8,a regression equation was obtained to express the relation between the water vapour capacity and optical basicity of slags.A tundish slag system with the desired properties can be designed according to the correlations between the optical basicity and various capacities of slags.展开更多

Workability of the magnesia ...To enhance the serdice life of magnesia based slag dam, composite slag dam was designed to be cast with alumina magnesia castables in slag line and magnesia castables in molten steel zone. Workability of the magnesia castables for the slag dam was improved and a suitable vibration shaping method was adopted to combine it with alumina magnesia castables. The result shows: (1) workability and setting performance of magtwsia castables can be improved to match with alumina magnesia castables by adjusting setting retarder and water reducing agent, and adding proper silica fume ; (2) composite slag dam cart be prepared with alumina m,agnesia castables and the improved magnesia castables, whether by up - down composite method or right - left composite method; in order to get full vibration arrd make interface .fluctuation have proper amplitude, the vibration time oJ the two methods after two different castables contact with each other is 3 and 2.5 minutes, respectively; (3)the result of the on-site test proves that the design aims for reducing pollution to hot metal and improving corrosion resistance have been achieved.展开更多

Sometimes,the stopper slag line is seriously eroded and broken,CC has to pause. The research shows that there are three main reasons which bring severe erosion of monolithic stopper slag line. Firstly,much Fe_2O_3 and MnO in slag react with carbon( C) in the stopper,C is gradually eroded and erosion resistance of the stopper greatly weakens. Secondly,F increase in tundish covering flux will quicken erosion of the stopper slag line. Thirdly, High LOI of tundish covering flux also makes erosion of the stopper slag line speed up. On one hand,CaCO_3 in tundish covering flux decomposes and brings CO_2; on the other hand,minerals with water in tundish covering flux decompose at high temperatures and bring water vapor.Then CO_2 and water vapor react with C in the stopper,C is gradually eroded,aggravating the erosion.展开更多
