Then, a Deform-3 D thermo-mechanical coupling model for simulating the on-line water quenching of extruded profile with unequal and large thicknesses was developed. The temperature field, residual stress field and distortion of profile during quenching were investigated systematically. The results show that heat transfer coefficient increases as water flow rate increases. The peak heat transfer coefficient with higher water flow rates appears at lower interface temperatures. The temperature distribution across the cross-section of profile during quenching is severe nonuniform and the maximum temperature difference is 300 ℃ at quenching time of 3.49 s. The temperature difference through the thickness of different parts of profile first increases sharply to a maximum value, and then gradually decreases. The temperature gradient increases obviously with the increase of thickness of parts. After quenching, there exist large residual stresses on the inner side of joints of profile and the two ends of part with thickness of 10 mm. The profile presents a twisting-type distortion across the cross-section under non-uniform cooling and the maximum twisting angle during quenching is 2.78°.展开更多

The upstream to downstream diameter ratio was kept constant at d/D = 2/3, the centre-to-centre distance was varied from 1.2D to 5D and the Reynolds number was varied from 1200 to 4800. The flow characteristics were analyzed through ensemble-averaged patterns of velocity, vorticity, normalized Reynolds stress contours and streamlines. Based on ensemble-averaged and instantaneous flow fields, different flow patterns, including single-wakeshedding at small spacing ratio, bi-stable flow behavior(alternating behavior of reattachment and vortex shedding) at intermediate spacing ratio and co-shedding pattern at large spacing ratio were observed. The effects of Reynolds number and the centre-to-centre spacing ratio on flow patterns and turbulent characteristics were also investigated. It was found that the diameter ratio appears to have a certain effect on the flow patterns at intermediate spacing ratios, where the reattachment of shear layer depends on the lateral width of the wake flow in the lee of the upstream cylinder. Extensive discussion on the distributions of Reynolds stress and turbulent kinetic energy was presented.展开更多

By using the matched eigenfunction expansion method and a least square approach, the analytical solutions are sought for the established boundary value problem. The effects of the incidence angle, location of step, depth ratio of deep to shallow waters, and column width between two plates, on the reflection coefficients, the horizontal wave forces acting on the two plates, and the mean surface elevation between the two plates, are numerically examined under a variety of wave conditions. The results show that the existence of the stepped bottom between two plates considerably impacts the hydrodynamic performances of the present system. It is found that the effect of stepped bottom on the reflection coefficient of the present two-plate structure is evident only with waves of the low dimensionless frequency. Moreover, the influence of the step location on the hydrodynamic performance of the present two-plate structure is slight if the step is placed in between the two plates.展开更多

An age reduction factor is used to describe the effect of imperfect repair, and the modelling approach for the unequal inspection period is proposed. Unavailable situations are classified into three kinds of independent cases, and the availability is calculated accordingly. Based on the analysis of the relationship between the unavailable cases and the unequal inspection period, an optimization model under imperfect repair is established to optimize the system's expected availability. A case study of a wind turbine is provided, and three key components, i.e. gearbox, generator and spindle, are considered. The optimization results of the unequal inspection period model and the equal inspection period model are compared. The results show that the unequal inspection period model based on availability can update the maintenance plan so as to optimize maintenance activities and improve the system's availability.展开更多

However, this case exists widely in practical applications, especially in passive radar systems. In this paper, we propose a joint DOA and polarization estimation method for unequal power sources based on the reconstructed noise subspace. The invariance property of noise subspace(IPNS) to power of sources has been proved an effective method to estimate DOA of unequal power sources. We develop the IPNS method for joint DOA and polarization estimation based on a dual polarized array. Moreover, we propose an improved IPNS method based on the reconstructed noise subspace, which has higher resolution probability than the IPNS method. It is theoretically proved that the IPNS to power of sources is still valid when the eigenvalues of the noise subspace are changed artificially. Simulation results show that the resolution probability of the proposed method is enhanced compared with the methods based on the IPNS and the polarimetric multiple signal classification(MUSIC) method. Meanwhile, the proposed method has approximately the same estimation accuracy as the IPNS method for the weak source.展开更多

Many technologies have emerged related with pervasive computing vision, which can give support for AAL. One of the most reliable approaches is based on wireless sensor networks(WSNs). In this paper, we propose a coverage-aware unequal clustering protocol with load separation(CUCPLS) for data gathering of AAL applications based on WSNs. Firstly, the coverage overlap factor for nodes is introduced that accounts for the degree of target nodes covered. In addition, to balance the intra-cluster and inter-cluster energy consumptions, different competition radiuses of CHs are computed theoretically in different rings, and smaller clusters are formed near the sink. Moreover, two CHs are selected in each cluster for load separation to alleviate the substantial energy consumption difference between a single CH and its member nodes. Furthermore, a backoff waiting time is adopted during the selection of the two CHs to reduce the number of control messages employed. Simulation results demonstrate that the CUCPLS not only can achieve better coverage performance, but also balance the energy consumption of a network and prolong network lifetime.展开更多

The profile presents a twisting-type distortion across the cross-section under non-uniform cooling and the maximum twisting angle during quenching is 2.78°.

文摘In this paper, flow around two circular cylinders in tandem arrangement with unequal diameters has been investigated using the particle image velocimetry technique(PIV) in a water channel. Extensive discussion on the distributions of Reynolds stress and turbulent kinetic energy was presented.

文摘Based on linear water-wave theory, this study investigated the scattering of oblique incident water waves by two unequal surface-piercing thin vertical rigid plates with stepped bottom topography. Moreover, the influence of the step location on the hydrodynamic performance of the present two-plate structure is slight if the step is placed in between the two plates.

文摘Till now, little information is available on the flow-induced vibration(FIV)of multiple flexible cylinders with unequal diameters. Some FIV characteristics of unequal-diameter cylinders can be predicted based on the knowledge of equal-diameter cylinders, while there are still other features remaining unrevealed. In this paper, the FIV characteristics of two flexible cylinders with unequal diameters arranged side-by-side are experimentally investigated. The diameter ratio of the small cylinder(Small Cyl.)to the large cylinder(Large Cyl.)is nearly 0.5.The aspect ratios and mass ratios of the two flexible cylinders are 350/181 and 1.90/1.47,respectively.The centre-tocentre spacing ratio in the cross-flow(CF)direction is kept constant as 6.0 and the two cylinders can oscillate freely in both the CF and in-line(IL)directions.The towing velocity varies from 0.05 m/s to 1.00 m/s.The dominant modes and frequencies,CF and IL displacement amplitudes and response trajectories are discussed.Compared with the case of two identical cylinders in our previous study, the FIV responses demonstrate some similarities and differences. The similarities are as follows. Both cylinders exhibit multi-mode vibration features and they interact with each other.Meanwhile, the IL FIV shows a more complex behaviour than that in the CF direction. The difference is that as the diameter of one cylinder is increased, the effect on the smaller cylinder becomes more significant. For Large Cyl.,the FIV response is similar to its isolated counterpart, which indicates that Small Cyl.has a negligible effect on the FIV of the larger one.Whereas Large Cyl.perplexes the FIV of Small Cyl.during the vibration process. The spacing would change when both cylinders are oscillating.Proximity interference between the two cylinders and wake shielding effect of the Large Cyl.may occur. The dominant frequencies of Small Cyl.are reduced and the wake-induced flutter of Small Cyl.is observed from the response trajectories at different measuring points.

文摘Unequal diameter twin-roll casting(UDTRC)can improve the formability, surface conditions, and production efficiency during the fabrication of clad strips.Using Fluent software,a numerical simulation is used to study the asymmetric heat transfer characteristics of Cu/Al clad strips fabricated by UDTRC.The effects of roller velocity ratio,Cu strip thickness, and inclination angle on the kissing point position,as well as the entire temperature distribution are obtained. The heat transfer model is established, and the mechanism is discussed. The Cu strip and rollers are found to be the main causes of asymmetric heat transfer, indicating that the roller velocity ratio changes the liquid zone proportion in the molten pool. The Cu strip thickness determines the heat absorption capacity and the variations in thermal resistance between the molten Al and the big roller. The inclination angle of the small roller changes the cooling time of big roller to molten Al.Moreover, the microstructure of Al cladding under different roller velocity ratios is examined. The results show significant grain refinement caused by the shear strain along the thickness direction of Al cladding and the intense heat transfer at the moment of contact between the metal Al cladding and Cu strip.

文摘Taking the multi-component system as research object, a maintenance optimization model based on the unequal inspection period and imperfect repair is established by considering the requirement of expected availability for improving the system's availability. The results show that the unequal inspection period model based on availability can update the maintenance plan so as to optimize maintenance activities and improve the system's availability.

文摘In most literature about joint direction of arrival(DOA) and polarization estimation, the case that sources possess different power levels is seldom discussed. Meanwhile, the proposed method has approximately the same estimation accuracy as the IPNS method for the weak source.

文摘The imbalance of energy consumption in wireless sensor networks(WSNs)easily results in the“hot spot”problem that the sensor nodes in a particular area die due to fast energy consumption. In order to solve the“hot spot”problem in WSNs,we propose an unequal clustering routing algorithm based on genetic algorithm(UCR-GA).In the cluster head election phase, the fitness function is constructed based on the residual energy, density and distance between nodes and base station, and the appropriate node is selected as the cluster head.In the data transmission phase, the cluster head selects single-hop or multi-hop communication mode according to the distance to the base station. After we comprehensively consider the residual energy of the cluster head and its communication energy consumption with the base station,an appropriate relay node is selected. The designed protocal is simulated under energy homogeneous and energy heterogeneity conditions, and the results show that the proposed routing protocal can effectively balance energy consumption, prolong the life cycle of network, and is appicable to heterogeneous networks.

文摘Ambient Assisted Living(AAL) is becoming an important research field. Simulation results demonstrate that the CUCPLS not only can achieve better coverage performance, but also balance the energy consumption of a network and prolong network lifetime.
