Construction and Implementation of Practice Teaching System of English Major in Local Normal Universities

English practice teaching has outstanding superiority over the extension and supplementation of English classroom teaching, and practice teaching is an indispensably important part of college English teaching. To students, cultivation of the ability of practice is vital, affecting students＇ employment and future. To universities, teaching quality has a direct impact on the development prospect of schools and decides the future of schools. Moreover, local normal universities also undertake a more important task to cultivate local high-quality talents teaching primary and junior high schools. Survey and Countermeasures on Current Situation of Life Education for College Students in Local Normal Colleges and Universities

Life education is the precondition of all education.This paper explored the current situation of life education for college students in local normal colleges and universities through questionnaire survey,and traced the history of life education in the world and China.Combined with history and reality,it analyzed the current problems of life education for college students mainly in three aspects,namely,the lack of connectivity in the educational process,the excessive productization of education,and the fragmentation of life education.Finally,it came up with pertinent recommendations in line with these problems.

Study on Current Situation and Countermeasures of English Language Culture Teaching for English Majors in Local Normal Universities

At present, English language teaching for English majors in local normal universities in China has been restricted by many aspects of factors, and the current situation is not optimistic. The main reason for this situation is that the teachers and students of English majors in some local normal universities have some deviation in understanding the English language. The teachers can not have the right attitude towards English language culture teaching,and they make one-sided emphasis on the skill learning of English language majors,but ignore the normal teaching of professional English language culture. From Teacher-Education University to Comprehensive University:Case Studies of East China Normal University,Southwest University and Yanbian University

Three different“logics”—that of the internal strategies of the institutions,the economic pressures of the socialist market economy and the political policies of the state drive the development of a university.The dynamic interaction and coexistence of the three logics has determined the transformation models of teacher-education or normal universities in China.This paper aims at describing and analyzing both the process and the forces that led to these transformations by taking East China Normal University(ECNU),Southwest University(SWU)and Yanbian University(YBU)as examples.Reliance on government and market resources has put these universities into a dilemma:On the one hand,they wanted to retain their original features so as to preserve their leading position in the“teacher education”market,and on the other,they needed to merge,expand,restructure and enhance their quality as they pursued overall development.The case analyses show that the teacher-education university’s need for self-development,which is the internal determinant,plays a critical role in its transformation.At the same time,the socioeconomic environment and national policies influence the institution while it displays considerable capacity for self-adjustment.

Overview The research group for nonlinear dynamics and complex systems is a virtual team comprised of some young re- searchers of common research interest in the School of Physics and Information Technology with the aim of improving the local academic environment and promoting scientific collaborations domestically and worldwide. The research interest of the group is currently focused on the dynamical behaviors of various nonlinear systems, with the subjects investigated ranging from classical to quantum systems, from low dimensional to spatiotemporal systems.

Tianjin Normal University Establishes Women's Studies Center

IN July, 1993, an international seminar titled "Chinese Women and Development—Status, Health and Employment" was sponsored by the Women’s Studies Center at Tianjin Normal University.
