Changes and Characteristics of EFL Teachers' Professional Identity:The Cases of Nine University Teachers 被引量:6

Teacher identity has emerged as a central topic in educational research since 1990s. Professional identity among university EFL teachers is however understudied, especially those were engaged in in-service PhD study. ... Teacher identity has emerged as a central topic in educational research since 1990s. Professional identity among university EFL teachers is however understudied, especially those were engaged in in-service PhD study. Drawing on the interviews with nine EFL teachers in a Chinese university, this qualitative case research explored the changes of their professional identity with in-service PhD study experience. Positive changes were reported by all nine teachers, although with varied loci. Consistent with prior studies, the nine teachers demonstrated multi-leveled, achievement-oriented and discipline-focused professional identities. This research highlights the powerful influence of policy upon their identity changes. Their professional identities are shaped and reshaped in the process of negotiating and balancing between personal beliefs and rules at different levels. Teachers with non-English PhD academic background displayed conflicting professional identity, with institutional pressure being the important sources of their struggle and dilemma. 展开更多

In this paper, the "impact factor structure of university teachers LMX Questionnaire" for four universities 808 subjects was investigated. By exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, it found that the structure of university teachers LMX factors includes five dimensions: values, attitudes up, personality characteristics, switching behavior, objective situations. Objective:This paper aims to explore the investigation,analysis,and countermeasures of the psychological pressure of college teachers.Method:From March 2023 to May 2023,3266 college teachers in our city were selected as the research objects,and the sources of their psychological stress were analyzed through a questionnaire survey.Results:In this paper,there were 500 cases of education and teaching pressure accounting for 15.31%,600 cases of research pressure accounting for 18.37%,1000 cases of professional title evaluation pressure accounting for 30.62%,and 1266 cases of life pressure accounting for 35.70%.Conclusion:The psychological pressure on teachers in colleges and universities in our city is relatively high,and this paper puts forward targeted countermeasures for this problem. 展开更多

This study investigates university English teachers’acceptance and willingness to use learning management system(LMS)data analysis tools in their teaching practices.The research employs a mixed-method approach,combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to understand teachers’perceptions and attitudes,and the factors influencing their adoption of LMS data analysis tools.The findings reveal that perceived usefulness,perceived ease of use,technical literacy,organizational support,and data privacy concerns significantly impact teachers’willingness to use these tools.Based on these insights,the study offers practical recommendations for educational institutions to enhance the effective adoption of LMS data analysis tools in English language teaching. 展开更多

Based on the narratives of four Chinese university EFL teachers' research experiences, this study reports on the dynamic construction of their researcher identities and the crucial socioinstitutional and individual factors that have afforded and constrained researcher identity construction. The results presented different trajectories of researcher identity construction through the EFL teachers' three stages of research experiences (beginning, stagnation/ development, and struggle stages) in their professional lives. Academic learning contexts such as Master's and PhD programs were shown to be replete with factors that contributed to the development of researcher identity, while the institutional context and the broad social context in China were exposed to be greatly constraining. Motivation, publications, academic qualifications, and networking with researchers were four important individual factors that impacted the EFL teachers' researcher identity construction, The findings suggest that Chinese EFL teachers raise awareness of their researcher identities, make continuous critical reflections, and exercise agency to seek opportunities for development while governments and institutions should reform the current educational and promotion systems to support EFL teachers' research engagement. 展开更多
