Different from the discriminatory analysis method currently used in the mathemalic statistics, it is unnecessary to assume that the predictand should be subject to a certain distribution. On the contrary, the statistical relationship between predictand and predictor has been obtained directly with computer according to actual distribution to recognize the category of patterns. Result of forecast has been improved as compared with the usual analytic discriminatory method. The influence of predictor on predictand can be seen clearly from this method and the transparency is good. Therefore, it is better to use the method in very short range forecast for which causality is more obvious.展开更多

It was reported that the aminoglycoside antibiotics strongly inhibited the tear lysozyme activity. The lysozyme activity of tears which were added to different con- centrations of two aminoglycoside antibiotics and three other antibiotics was determined longitudinally. No influence of any antibiotics on tear lysozyme activity was found. Therefore it is unnecessary to worry about that the use of aminoglycosida antibic tics may weaken the defence function of the eye.展开更多

Background:Several studies have shown PTCA performed early afterthrombolysis to be unnecessary or even harmful.However,PTCA in these trialswas generally performed 1-3 days aider AMI,when the patient may be unsuitedfor...Background:Several studies have shown PTCA performed early afterthrombolysis to be unnecessary or even harmful.However,PTCA in these trialswas generally performed 1-3 days aider AMI,when the patient may be unsuitedfor PTCA,and the incidence of major complications was high.We observed theinitial results of dalayed PTCA(7-30 days) in patients with residual stenosis andevidence of iscbemia.Methods and Results:28 patients were eligible for inclusion:1)They hadreceived intravenous thrombolytic therapy within 12 hours of symtom onset ofAMI.2)They had postinfarction angina,or≥1mm fiat or downsloping STsegment depressions or T wave inversions,or the response of segmental wallmotion abnormalities to nitrates or dobutamine.3)They had an infarct-arterystenosis of≥50% diameter stenosis.Mean age was 56±10 yeats.Proceduralsuccess was obtained in 26 patients(92.8%),guidewire could not cross one totalocclusion lesion and balloon could not get through another.Intracoronarystenting was performed in 15 of 26 patients(57.7%).Diameter stenosis wasreduced from 75±12% to 22±10%.In-hospital or parioperativecomplications were as follows:digest tract bleeding,one(3.8%);subacuteclosure,one(3.8%).There was no significant increase in ejection fraction 4-weeks later.There was no reinfarction during the 12 months of follow-up.Cnnclusion:In this selected patient population,late elective PTCA results in alow incidence of in-hospital and parioparative complications.Clinical success,defined by absence of symptoms,appears to be sustained at 1 year.展开更多

A pedestrian hybrid beacon was proven to be effective in decreasing this unnecessary delay to the drivers at midblock pedestrian crossings when compared to standard signalized midblock crossings. Two pedestrian hybrid beacons were installed at midblock pedestrian crossings in Lawrence, Kansas. A study was conducted at these two locations to determine the effectiveness of the pedestrian hybrid beacon in decreasing the unnecessary delay to drivers by comparing them with a signalized midblock on Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, Kansas. In addition to the delay measurements for drivers at pedestrian hybrid beacon and signalized treatment at midblock pedestrian crossings, other parameters such as driver compliance rate, pedestrian compliance rate, and other driver and pedestrian characteristics were also studied. Video cameras were used at these test locations and the effectiveness of the pedestrian hybrid beacon was analyzed from the video. A more than 90% reduction in delays was observed for the drivers at the pedestrian hybrid beacon at midblock crossings compared to the signalized crossing. Further, a better driver compliance rate was also recorded at the pedestrian hybrid beacon. Information about reductions in unnecessary delay to drivers and improvements to driver and pedestrian compliance rates from the use of pedestrian hybrid beacons would be useful to engineers, decision makers, and researchers to determine an optimum treatment at desired pedestrian crossings.展开更多
