The demand for the exploration of ocean resources is increasing exponentially.Underwater image data plays a significant role in many research areas.Despite this,the visual quality of underwater images is degraded beca...The demand for the exploration of ocean resources is increasing exponentially.Underwater image data plays a significant role in many research areas.Despite this,the visual quality of underwater images is degraded because of two main factors namely,backscattering and attenuation.Therefore,visual enhancement has become an essential process to recover the required data from the images.Many algorithms had been proposed in a decade for improving the quality of images.This paper aims to propose a single image enhancement technique without the use of any external datasets.For that,the degraded images are subjected to two main processes namely,color correction and image fusion.Initially,veiling light and transmission light is estimated tofind the color required for correction.Veiling light refers to unwanted light,whereas transmission light refers to the required light for color correction.These estimated outputs are applied in the scene recovery equation.The image obtained from color correction is subjected to a fusion process where the image is categorized into two versions and applied to white balance and contrast enhancement techniques.The resultants are divided into three weight maps namely,luminance,saliency,chromaticity and fused using the Laplacian pyramid.The results obtained are graphically compared with their input data using RGB Histogram plot.Finally,image quality is measured and tabulated using underwater image quality measures.展开更多

(Shibuya, Tokyo) to prevent exercise-induced muscle swelling. Calf circ...The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of post-exercise treatment with “Cool Veil Serum (CVS)” developed by Madre:X Co. Ltd. (Shibuya, Tokyo) to prevent exercise-induced muscle swelling. Calf circumferences and mus-cle stiffness of both legs were measured in 10 healthy female. The measurements were made on before 5-minute exercise, after the exercise, and after 10-minute recovery care with CVS and 5-minute rest. The recovery care was applied only on right leg of the subjects. Then, multiple comparisons of calf circumference and muscle stiffness on each leg among pre-exer-cise, post-exercise, and final measurements were carried out. Exercise caused a significant increase in calf circumference and muscle stiff-ness. The recovery care with CVS rapidly re-duced postexercise calf circumference to pre-exercise level. Relationship between reduc-ing muscle swelling after exercise and prevent-ing sport injury should be explored in further studies.展开更多

After all these experiences, she changed alot and achieved self-awakening. The mental world of Kitty was worth discussing. We present two haze removal algorithms for single image based on haziness analysis.One algorithm regards haze as the veil layer,and the other takes haze as the transmission.The former uses the illumination component i...We present two haze removal algorithms for single image based on haziness analysis.One algorithm regards haze as the veil layer,and the other takes haze as the transmission.The former uses the illumination component image obtained by retinex algorithm and the depth information of the original image to remove the veil layer.The latter employs guided filter to obtain the refined haze transmission and separates it from the original image.The main advantages of the proposed methods are that no user interaction is needed and the computing speed is relatively fast.A comparative study and quantitative evaluation with some main existing algorithms demonstrate that similar even better quality results can be obtained by the proposed methods.On the top of haze removal,several applications of the haze transmission including image refocusing,haze simulation,relighting and 2-dimensional(2D)to 3-dimensional(3D) stereoscopic conversion are also implemented.展开更多

A series of lo...This research focused on how to improve damage resistance of carbon fiber laminates. It was carried out at Cranfield University Composites Centre, Milton Keynes, UK as an MSc by research thesis project. A series of low-cost composite laminates, with or without novel veils provided by Tenax, was manufactured using current aircraft carbon fiber preforms via vacuum infusion (VI) molding in this research. All the investigations on damage resistance of these panels were carried out according to the British Standard (BS ISO 18353:2009). Initial damage was induced using a falling weight apparatus mounting a 16 mm hemispherical tip. C-scan and Micrograph were employed to reveal damage characteristics. Finally, both compression after impact (CAI) and plain compression strength were experimented. The behaviors of these panels, including damage size, damage construction, residual compression strength, and compression strength reduction, were utilized to investigate how and to what extent the veils affected the damage resistance. The results show that using veils is an efficient method of improving the damage resistance of the laminates studied. Maximum 32% increase in residual compression strength is achieved via veils accompanying with 7% increase in cost.展开更多
