Due to the number of walls in plan and reduction in lateral force portion, this system is not only stronger against earthquakes, but also more economical. The effect of progressive collapse caused by removal of load bearing elements, in various positions in plan and stories of the RC load bearing wall system was evaluated by nonlinear dynamic and static analyses. For this purpose, three-dimensional model of 10-story structure was selected. The analysis results indicated stability, strength and stiffness of the RC load-bearing wall system against progressive collapse. It was observed that the most critical condition for removal of load bearing walls was the instantaneous removal of the surrounding walls located at the corners of the building where the sections of the load bearing elements were changed. In this case, the maximum vertical displacement was limited to 6.3 mm and the structure failed after applying the load of 10 times the axial load bored by removed elements. Comparison between the results of the nonlinear dynamic and static analyses demonstrated that the "load factor" parameter was a reasonable criterion to evaluate the progressive collapse potential of the structure.展开更多

An ul- trasound simulation method of carotid artery wall with a three-membrane structure is proposed in present study. According to the ultrasound speckle distributions varying with the shapes and densities of scatterer distributions, as well as the statistic results of the clinical images, the parameters of distributions, densities and intensities of scatterers for different kinds of tissues in the carotid artery phantoms are determined. Each region is acoustically characterized using FIELD II software to produce the radio frequency echo signals, from which ultrasound images are derived. The results based on 30 simulations show that the echo distributions of the intimae, mediae, adventitias and blood are consistent with the clinical ones. Moreover, compared with the results from the central frequency of 8 MHz, the mean measurements for thicknesses of the intima, media and adventitia membranes, as well as the lumen diameter from the simulation images based on 12 MHz are the same as the preset ones, and the maximum relative errors are the 4.01%, 1.25%, 0.04% and 0.15%, respectively. The simulation under this condition is more realistic.展开更多

The paper explores two fundamental approaches to sheet pile design: limit equilibrium methods and numerical techniques, with a particular focus on finite element analysis. Utilizing the robust PLAXIS 2016 calculation code based on the finite element method and employing a simplified elastoplastic model (Mohr-Coulomb), this study meticulously models the interaction between sheet pile walls and surrounding soil. The research offers valuable insights into settlement and deformation patterns that adjacent buildings may experience during various construction phases. The central objective of this paper is to present the study’s findings and recommend potential mitigation measures for settlement effects on nearby structures. By unraveling the intricate interplay between sheet pile wall construction and neighboring buildings, the paper equips engineers and practitioners to make informed decisions that ensure the safety and integrity of the built environment. Based on features of surrounding rock structures in the backfill wall, we propose a mechanical model on the structural effect of a soft-hard backfill wall using theory analysis, physical experiments and a numerical simulation. The results show thatChe deformation of the structure of the soft-hard backfill wall is coordinated with the roof and floor. The soft structure on the top of the backfill wall can absorb the energy in the roof by its large deformation and adapt to the given deformation caused by the rotation and subsidence of a key rock block. The hard structure at the bottom of the backfill wall can absorb the strong supporting resistance from the top surrounding rock. The soft structure on the top protecting the hard bottom structure by its large deformation contributes to the stability of the entire backfill wall. An application indicated that the stress in the backfill wall effec- tively decreased and its deformation was significantly reduced after the top coal remained. This ensured the stability of the backfill wall.展开更多

The rough Reynolds number Re_Δ= U_*Δ/ν=0.04~73, where U_*is the shear velocity, Δ is the diame- ter of uniform sand, v is the kinematic viscosity coefficient. Hydrogen bubble technique for flow visualization and HWL-II hot-film anemometer for velocity mea- surement were used in the experiments.
文摘Based on the three-term decomposition model for turbulent flows, the fundamental equations for quasi-periodic motions are obtained, and the approximate analytical solutions of these second-order nonlinear partial differential equations are derived by using the match method. The effects on the mo- mentum, heat and mass transport processes in the wall turbulent flows can be estimated approximately.

文摘Sheathed post-and-beam wooden structures are distinct from light-wood structures. They allow for using sheathing panels that are smaller(0.91 m×1.82 m)than standard-sized panels(1.22 m×2.44 m or 2.44 m×2.44 m).Evidence indicates that nail spacing and panel thickness determine the lateral capacity of the wood frame shear walls. To verify the lateral shear performance of wood frame shear walls with smaller panels,we subjected 13 shear walls, measuring 0.91 m in width and 2.925 m in height,to a low-cycle cyclic loading test with three kinds of nail spacing and three panel thicknesses.A nonlinear numerical simulation analysis of the wall was conducted using ABAQUS finite element(FE)software, where a custom nonlinear spring element was used to simulate the sheathing-frame connection. The results indicate that the hysteretic performance of the walls was mainly determined by the hysteretic performance of the sheathing-frame connection. When same nail specifications were adopted, the stiffness and bearing capacity of the walls were inversely related to the nail spacing and directly related to the panel thickness. The shear wall remained in the elastic stage when the drift was 1/250 rad and ductility coefficients were all greater than 2.5,which satisfied the deformation requirements of residential structures.Based on the test and FE analysis results, the shear strength of the post-and-beam wooden structures with sheathed walls was determined.

文摘This paper, largely written in 2009/2010,fits Landau-Ginzburg models into the mirror symmetry program pursued by the last author jointly with Mark Gross since 2001.This point of view transparently brings in tropical disks of Maslov index 2 via the notion of broken lines, previously introduced in two dimensions by Mark Gross in his study of mirror symmetry for P2.A ma jor insight is the equivalence of properness of the Landau-Ginzburg potential with smoothness of the anticanonical divisor on the mirror side.We obtain proper superpotentials which agree on an open part with those classically known for toric varieties.Examples include mirror LG models for non-singular and singular del Pezzo surfaces,Hirzebruch surfaces and some Fano threefolds.

文摘In order to improve the thermal insulation and storage performance of Chinese solar greenhouses in winter,a novel assembled Chinese solar greenhouse(ACSG)without energy supplement in cold climatic areas was designed to evaluate and compare its thermal performance with that of conventional Chinese solar greenhouse(CSG).The thermal properties of both greenhouses were tested in field on cold winter days in Ningxia,China. The results indicated that the land utilization rate of ACSG was 19.3%higher than that of CSG.On a typical sunny day(the lowest outdoor temperature was−22.0℃)and typical cloudy day(the lowest outdoor temperature was−19.7℃)during the experiment, the minimum indoor temperature of ACSG was respectively 1.7℃and 2.0℃higher than that of CSG.The results for 24 consecutive days(the average outdoor daily minimum air temperature was−19.0℃)showed that the average minimum indoor temperature of ACSG was 1.4℃higher than that of CSG(p<0.05).The modular soil wall attached with colored steel polystyrene boards would be exploited as the north wall of CSG in Yinchuan area.

文摘Two experimental tests of three-storied reinforced concrete structural walls having large openings were performed.Based on an original macro model,a multiple modified macro-model was proposed to develop a simple method to design a reinforced concrete structural wall with large openings and various opening locations. The interaction between reinforcement ties and concrete struts formed along the perimeter of openings was neglected in the original model. However, the strut-and-tie node was proposed to take account of such interaction in the proposed model. The predicted behavior of two specimens using such a proposed model was compared with the experimental results. It is shown that the behavior of structural walls with large openings could be modeled well using the proposed model. Moreover, the study indicates that the proposed model is applicable even in cases of multi-story structural walls having large openings and various opening locations.
