The Victorian era had a profound impact on social values in the United States, stressing that women were to behave gracefully and remain within the domestic sphere. The novel takes place in a country house located about three miles from the nearest village. The Setting has the appearance of tranquility, but is actually a place of confinement--There are bars on the windows of the nursery, and the bed is secured to the floor The isolated location of the house, its somewhat neglected condition, and her further isolation in the fortress-like nursery, symbolize the narrator＇s mental condition. Several symbols are employed in the story to reveal the oppression of women by men and the struggle against that male dominated society. The yellow wallpaper is symbolic of the Cult of True Womanhood, which binds women to the home and family. Like Charlotte Gilman, women were constricted to the set parameters that men determined. Biao Hu was one of the eight famous traditional crafts in the late Qing dynasty.This skill involved decorating the interiors of ancient buildings such as ceilings,walls,and windows and creating burial objects.It was p...Biao Hu was one of the eight famous traditional crafts in the late Qing dynasty.This skill involved decorating the interiors of ancient buildings such as ceilings,walls,and windows and creating burial objects.It was primarily used for wooden buildings in northern China during the early Qing dynasty.For example,there is white-patterned wallpaper in the Forbidden City utilizing both traditional and nontraditional patterns.Moreover,there was wallpaper with a special pattern in the Lodge of the Bamboo Fragrance(Zhuxiang Guan).Its structure and composition were studied via morphological observations and spectral analyses,the pigments and dyes were analyzed by Raman spectroscopy and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrum(UPLC-MS).Traditional technology and exchanges between China and the West were discussed by the study of patterned wallpapers in other buildings of the Forbidden City.展开更多

Therefore, it is necessary and urgent to develop approaches to controllably release the odorants as demanded. In this study, photo-driven mesoporous silica nanospheres loaded with sandela 803 was designed, prepared and named as S803@MS-S. S803@MS-S possessed ordered mesoporous, large specific surface area and pore volume. After adsorption of sandela 803, the S803@MSS was added into wallpaper to prepare fragrant wallpaper S803@MS-S-W. The structure of Lao motifs and patterns are complicated, but weav...Traditional Lao textiles are wealth in religious motifs, the motifs and patterns on the textiles reflect traditions, beliefs and livelihood of people. The structure of Lao motifs and patterns are complicated, but weaving processes still use traditional techniques and simple floor-loom. Therefore, it takes a lot of time for making a weave-draft on the loom and percentage of losing weave-drafts is very high. In contrast, industrial textiles use electronic loom and digital weave-drafts to produce fabrics, which are suitable for fast production but lack complicated traditional patterns. As a result, this paper introduces scientific approaches for digitizing motifs, patterns, and weave-drafts of traditional Lao textiles. Mathematical principles of Frieze and Wallpaper groups are investigated for digital design. The paper presents two standard files, image file format and WIF file as digital weave-draft in order to fill the gap between traditional and modem weave techniques. The standard files are understandable and usable for both hand-weavers and weaving machines. Our study shows that a modern electronic TC2 loom is a suitable loom to connect between traditional Lao weave technique and modem weave technique.展开更多
