Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Based on Landscape Ecology Theory:A Case Study of Waterfront Landscape Planning and Design of Dapo Town

With the rapid development of urbanization,landscape architecture has become an indispensable component of daily life.In order to achieve better landscape effects and protect the ecological environment,landscape ecology theory can be integrated into landscape planning to carry out disciplinary crossing and integration research between landscape ecology and landscape architecture.In this study,based on the basic theories of landscape ecology,the waterfront landscape of Dapo Town was designed,with the aim to achieve ecological balance in planning,showcase biodiversity,and create a harmonious landscape ecological environment which can benefit both nature and people.This design combined artificial and natural elements while improving the natural environment,which promoted a harmonious relationship between humans and nature,thus enriching the spatial organization of the city,and playing a role in regulating the urban environment and climate.

Characteristics and Trends of Urban Waterfront Human Settlements Based on CiteSpace

Urban waterfront human settlements have gradually become a hot topic for research in recent years.Using CiteSpace,597 publications from 2017 to 2023 that were retrieved from the Web of Science were analyzed and sorted out,and the following characteristics were found:(1)The research hotspots transitioned from thermal comfort evaluation to the functional mechanism of water bodies,and then to the impact on the environment and residents’behavior.(2)The integration of disciplines has promoted the diversification of perspectives on urban waterfront human settlements,and the content has become more concentrated in interdisciplinary fields.Research on corresponding technology and methods of urban waterfront human settlement has improved,and so has the extensiveness of the experiments.(3)The research on urban waterfront human settlement from the perspective of ecology has been improving.The research focuses more on the harmonious coexistence of ecological and cultural values and human beings.

Urban Waterfront Space Design under the Concept of Ecological Conservation:A Case Study of Hefei Swan Lake

With the proposal of the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,ecological issues have become increasingly important issues of concern to people.The process of urbanization is accelerating,and the importance of urban waterfront space in improving the environmental quality of the city and people’s quality of life,enhancing the vitality of the city,the overall appearance of the city,and the competitiveness of the city,is receiving increasing attention.And how to properly handle the construction and development of urban waterfront space has become increasingly prominent in urban planning.Under the the concept of“ecological conservation”,it is thought that the construction of urban waterfront space should follow the principle of harmony between nature and man,and strengthen the multifaceted connection of the city.Through field research on Swan Lake,a comprehensive evaluation of the problems in the plank road and land ecology is conducted.It is proposed to improve the current situation of Swan Lake by grasping the two keywords of“waterfront”and“city”,and starting from the improvement of water body and the enhancement of urban cultural construction in the lake area.

Identity Change Before and After the Regeneration Project of the Waterfront Area Based on Industrial Heritage-A Case Study of Yangpu Waterfront (China)

This paper takes Yangpu Waterfront,a famous industrial heritage belt in Shanghai(China),as the research object,with the purpose of sorting out the identity transformation that this waterfront industrial area has experienced in the past century.Taking the comprehensive development on both sides of the Huangpu River carried out in Shanghai in the early 21st century as the dividing line,Yangpu Waterfront has also been reborn after the waterfront regeneration projects that have been in full swing in recent years.This identity change is reflected in physical settings,observable activities,and meanings.The article is based on historical research and current situation analysis,including a part of user satisfaction evaluations.

Exploration on Design of Waterfront Landscape and Building in Xianghu Lake Park of Nanchang City

Wa terfront park is an important composition of current urban ecological tourism in China,which sufficiently reveals the economic development situation of the city and the leisure culture life of the masses,and embodies rich regional cultural characteristics.Taking Xianghu Lake Park of Nanchang City as the example,design features of its water landscape and building are analyzed and explored.The design fol ows the principle of utilization function combining with artistry,pa ys attention to plane layout and spatial organization,and retains classical architectural style of the building.

Waterfront Revetment in Yaodu Town, Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu

With the advancement of urban-rural integration, township waterfront functioning as urban waterfront is increasingly emphasized by people. Township waterfront is expected to not only meet the basic needs of urban waterfront in landscape, but also give consideration to both leisure tourism and ecological protection. This paper analyzes the existing problems in the revetment design on the township waterfront and elaborates the importance and feasibility of constructing the ecological revetment in the traditional townships as well as design procedures. The concept of ecological design is introduced into the revetment design on the township waterfront to meet the requirements of both man and nature, so as to achieve a harmonious coexistence between man and nature and sustainable development in a real sense.

Landscape Construction of Urban Waterfront Environment

Urban waterfront landscape is the most vital landscape form in a city, the most quality urban green line, and also an ideal habitat corridor. Urban waterfront landscape belt has inborn lasting attractiveness for urban citizens. Considering needs of urban development, development and redevelopment of waterfront areas have been initiated in many cities to meet relaxation and leisure needs of citizens. This paper analyzed landscapes of urban riverfront environment, embankment landscape engineering, and waterfront plant cultivation, so as to further explore landscape construction of urban waterfront environment.

Ecological Planning and Design of Waterfront in Xianghe County from the Perspective of Landscape Security Pattern

Waterfront is a precious resource in urban ecological construction,and also a key section for ecological protection,so ecological planning of urban waterfront has far-reaching influence on the whole region.This study explored ecological planning and design of waterfront from the perspective of landscape security pattern,analyzed current waterfront in Xianghe County and construction of landscape security pattern for waterfront,provided a basis for the ecological planning and design of landscape.

Typology-based Vitality Promotion of Urban Waterfront Public Space in the Three Gorges Reservoir

Revitalization of waterfront-a precious resource of city has gradually become popular worldwide. Cities around the Three Gorges Reservoir grow and proper for the Yangtze River,thus waterfront in these cities has been long ignored or faced with "constructive destruction" with the city development. This paper divided urban waterfront public spaces around the Three Gorges into 3 kinds of spaces,namely point,line and surface,from the perspective of typology,and put forward strategies such as functional renovation,and improvement of spatial scale from the perspectives of land use and traffic,to enhance the vitality of waterfront public space.

Assessment and exploitation of the waterfront resources in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River

Waterfront resources are important and special kind of natural resources in the marginal area between land and wat er. The Yangtze River, the longest river in China, is not only rich in waterfront resources, but also has favorable development conditions with gr eat potentiality. Aided by large-scale underwater topographic map, the maj or factors of the waterfront resources in the middle and lower reache s of the Yangtze River, such as the stability, the water depth and the natural conditions for port construction, are assessed in this pap er respectively on the basis of the overall investigations. The result s show that: (1) the waterfront resources are abundant in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, but lack of perfectly combined high grade waterfront; (2) there exists an obvious regional difference in the natural quality of the waterfront along the Yangtze; (3) the fore-bank water depth and waterfront stability are the main natural fa ctors related to the waterfront quality in the middle and lower reach es of the Yangtze River; (4) the waterfronts along the Yangtze are mainl y used for port, warehouse and industrial purposes; and (5) the waterfronts near important cities are highly used, especially the high-quality waterfronts. In addition, some suggestions for the development and utilization of the waterfron t resources are presented in this paper.

Research on Landscape Optimization Design in Urban Waterfront Area——A Case Study of Jinghang Grand Canal in Suqian City of China

It could find from the survey and analysis that there existed many problems in landscape status of the west bank of Jinghang Grand Canal in Suqian City.For example,land function was scattered,eco-environment was poor,facilities were incomplete and road system was not perfect.Guided by the principle for landscape planning and design of waterfront area,some suggestions had been proposed from the perspective of the design of ecological plants community,design of road transport network,revetment management,control of waterfront buildings,and landscape node design,so as to construct the west bank of Jinghang Grand Canal into the most lively,charming and characteristic waterfront area in Suqian City.

LATERAL DISPERSAL OF ADULT AQUATIC INSECTS FOLLOWING EMERGENCE FROM THE MIDDLE REACHES OF THE CHIKUMA RIVER(HONSHU ISLAND,JAPAN)IN RELATION TO WATERFRONT VEGETATION

To clarify the role of waterfront vegetation of floodplains for adult aquatic insects, Trichoptera and Diptera (Tipulidae and Chironomidae), in the middle reaches of the Chikuma River from May to July, an investigation of the number of these insects was conducted by trapping in each type of vegetation using board traps.A total of 2608.5 adults/m 2 were collected, and we identified a total of 26 species belonging to three taxa,i.e., seven species of Trichoptera, four species of Tipulidae and 15 species of Chironomidae. The most abundant species was Psychomyia acutipennis in Trichoptera (95.7%). There was a significant difference between the number of P.acutipennis in the all vegetation area (especially, Salix subfragilis) and the control area (no vegetation) during the investigation periods (P<0.05, Mann-Whitney U-test). Other taxa did not show a significant difference between the all vegetation area and the control. Moreover, the numbers of adult P. acutipennis showed a significant difference in height on each vegetation. In the case of Vicia villosa varia and V. villosa varia plus dead Phragmites australis, the highest number was caught in the traps set in the boundary between one plant and the plant above (P<0.05, Steel-Dwass Test) in May.On the other hand, in the case of almost all vegetation during the investigation periods (except of S.subfragilis in May, Melilotus officinalis plus dead P.australis in June), the highest number was caught in the traps set up within the vegetation (P<0.05, Steel-Dwass Test).As a result, a significant difference was observed in the number of trapped P.acutipennis according to the vegetation and its height.It is suggested that the existence of multiple types of vegetation in the floodplain plays an important role for maintaining the diversity of the fauna there.

Waterfront Place Design Based on Landscape Image of Urban Waterfront Area

After the illustration of the concept of waterfront place and the construction situation of urban waterfront landscape in China, the paper has introduced design methods for waterfront environment. By taking the comprehensive improvement of the environment of Xinxu River in Nanning City for example, the paper has analyzed the current situation of place image, interpreted the spirit of place, and considered that the place design should be based on characteristic and recognizable image, unified and diversified image, general and continuous image, accessible and humanistic image and ecological protective image of landscape sensitive area. And then, the planning and design idea for the place has been proposed, functional zones have been divided, and furthermore, landscape organization of waterfront spatial environment has been described in detail. It aims to create a humanistic, ecological, characteristic and recognizable waterfront landscape place with native spatial culture.

Evolution of Waterfront Landscape Pattern Under Rapid Urbanization: A Case Study of Xuhui Riverside Zone in Shanghai

The urban waterfront area is in a special land-water communication zone and is an ecologically sensitive zone. It combines the characteristics of natural landscape and human landscape intertwined. The urbanization process continues to affect the natural and cultural environment of the waterfront, and environmental issues have become increasingly prominent. Taking Xuhui Riverside Zone as an example, this paper analyses the dynamic evolution process of the landscape, aiming at revealing the impact of the evolution of landscape pattern on urban ecological environment during the process of urbanization in China, so as to provide useful references for the planning and design of the waterfront space landscape of domestic and foreign cities.

Study on the Landscape Planning of Middle-sized and Small Characteristic Waterfront Cities

Connotations and characteristics of urban waterfront area were elaborated,and its significance for urban development and construction of urban landscapes was proposed.Dujiangyan City and Yueyang City,as two representatives of middle-sized and small characteristic waterfront cities in China,were taken for example to explore the way of integrating urban landscapes,humanistic environment,ecology and tourism into the landscape planning of urban waterfront area, and also the way of fully developing historical and cultural characteristics of the local areas.It was to not only endow waterfront cities with diversified economic functions of urban waterfront areas,but also construct them into harmonious and livable cities with characteristic cultural background,taste, function and status.

“Prototype”Analysis of Waterfront Spaces in Ancient Towns in South of the Yangtze River

On the basis of architecture typology theory, this paper explored the waterfront building layout and space in "Prototype", conducted a fi eld trip research on Ancient Fengjing Town, with empirical analysis on the impact of "Prototype" due to natural conditions in South of Yangtze River. This study also analyzed and verified the continuous space section presented as the main features of waterfront space by using visualized approaches.

Study on Urban Quality Assessment Index System of Waterfront Landscapes

Urban waterfront space as an essential part of urban landscape belt refl ects unique city images and cultures, and it is an important region for urban leisure activities. With the promotion of new urbanization, population explosion has had new requirements on existing waterfront landscape spaces. Accurate assessment of the quality of waterfront landscaping scheme is the premise and basis of building high-quality landscapes. This paper, on the basis of landscape trialism, landscape assessment standards from the perspectives of landscape environment, landscape aesthetics, and landscape function, elaborated the relationship among the three aspects, proposed the basic framework for the quality assessment of urban waterfront landscapes, and refi ned the control factors, summarized the specific assessment factors, in order to establish an index system fit for the quality asssessment of urban waterfront landscapes, and provide references for urban waterfront landscaping in China.

Flexible Design Methods of Urban Waterfront Areas

Waterfront area is always a central district in a city, and favorable designs improve taste of the city. With the further urbanization and improvement of living standards, design of waterfront area has to meet not only needs of water conservancy and flood control, but also psychological needs of users. Using flexible design principles and methods, urban waterfront areas will be more flexible and capable of adapting to changes of neighboring environment.

A Study on Chinese Waterfront Landscape Based on CiteSpace V Visualization Analysis

Taking 457 papers in core journals of Chinese waterfront landscape included in CNKI database from 2000 to the fi rst half of 2020 as samples,visualization analysis of the number of papers,research institutions,research authors,key words and spatial and temporal distribution of domestic research papers on waterfront landscape in the past 20 years were performed to grasp the dynamic process of the development of domestic waterfront landscape research and clarify the development context,so as to provide academic information with scientific basis and valuable theoretical reference for waterfront landscape related research in China.The results showed that the researches on domestic waterfront landscape presented a downward trend from prosperity to decline;research forces were mainly concentrated in colleges and universities,and most research institutions did not form cooperative relations with authors,and were still in a relatively isolated situation.At present,the research hotspots and frontiers of waterfront landscape in China mainly focus on urban waterfront,urban historical landscape,ecology,cultural landscape and plants landscape.

The behavioral characteristics of slow-mover in urban waterfront space

The waterfront space is a specific and perfect open space for people to experience the city.Daily entertainment,leisure,shopping,sports and other activities can be carried out in the waterfront slow-motility space.There are three types of slow-mover in urban waterfront space namely walking,stop or stay,and riding.Analysis of their behavioral characteristics and the difference of different people can help to clarify the design requirements and produce a waterfront space that will better meets people’s functional needs.
