We numerically investigate a coupled-resonator structure consisting of a stub resonator and a nanodisk resonator using a two-dimensional finite element method. Simulation results show that plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) occurs in the transmission spectra, and the sharp asymmetric Fano lines increase the sensitivity to 1.4 ×10^3 nm/RIU. We also analyze the properties of the structure with different radii of the nanodisk and the length of the tooth cavity. Moreover, we find that the PIP only happens when the staggered system is around a fixed location with different separate distances, which is not similar to the previous researches. Our model may be important to photonic-integrated circuits and the sensitivity in sensors. 展开更多

A terahertz(THz) waveguide band-pass filter using an iris inductive window coupled structure was designed and fabricated.The filter was designed at0.22 THz with a pass band of 20 GHz.The measured results show that the center frequency is 0.218 THz with a pass band of 0.205 THz to 0.231 THz,the minimum insertion loss is 1.26 d B at 0.224 THz,and the return loss is less than 13.1 d B.The stop-band suppression is65.6 d B at 0.193 THz and 51.8 d B at 0.243 THz,respectively,which means a good performance of high stop-band suppression.A good agreement exists between the measured S-parameters and the simulated ones,especially in the upper band.The proposed THz waveguide filter has potential applications in THz communications. 展开更多

In this work, long-period waveguide grating-based tunable wavelength filters using organic–inorganic grafting poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) materials are designed and fabricated by metal-cladding directly defined technique.The thermal stabilities and optical properties of the organic–inorganic grafting PMMA core materials are analyzed. Structures and performance parameters of the waveguide gratings and self-electrode heaters are designed and simulated. The contrast of the filter is about 15 d B and the resonant wavelength can be tuned by different electric powers applied to the metal-cladding self-electrode heaters. The temperature sensitivity is 3.5 nm/℃ and the switching time is about 1 ms. The technique is very suitable for realizing the optoelectronic integrated wavelength-division-multiplexing systems. 展开更多

Passive ranging technique using waveguide invariant in shallow water with thermocline

In shallow water with uniform sound speed profile, the value of waveguide invariant is approximately a constant, while in shallow water with thermocline, it varies in a wide range. The waveguide invariant distributions and striations in these two conditions are analyzed respectively. On the basis of wavenumber difference between reflected modes and refracted modes, a wavenumber-frequency domain filtering technique is proposed to separate the two groups of modes. The required relationship between array element space, total array length and target azimuth for effective application is discussed. Finally, the simulation results indicate that in shallow water with a thermocline, refracted modes can be effectively filtered out using the wavenumber-frequency domain filtering technique and the target's range is estimated accurately. ? 2017 Beijing Institute of Aerospace Information. 展开更多

This article introduces the design theory of ceramic waveguide filter and proposes a new type of negative coupling structure with a conical throughhole,which has fine-adjustment of negative coupling without significantly increasing the insertion loss of the filter.Based on this,the article proposes an eightcavity ceramic waveguide filter design for 5G base stations.It also presents a detailed discussion on the influence of the cross-coupling slot lengths L2 and L4 on the transmission zeros positions during the filter optimization process and the relevant change rules.For the proposed optimized filter,the observed performance indicators include the center frequency of 3.5 GHz,working bandwidth of 200 MHz,an insertion loss of≤2.0 dB,return loss of≥19 dB,and out-of-band nearend suppression and out-of-band far-end suppression of≥39 dB and≥63 dB,respectively.The test performance results obtained for the sample,with structural parameters as per the simulation model,were in good agreement with the simulation results. 展开更多

A novel method for fabricating an athermal AWG is proposed, using a unique apparatus for ITU-T center wavelength adjustment and optical coupling of two cut-parts. UV adhesive or sticky gel is applied into the gap between the cut-elements and the alignment base substrate by capillary infiltration. The spectrum profiles are almost the same as those of the original chip state, and no deterioration is observed resulting from athermalization. Flat-top athermal AWG modules of 100 GHz × 40 ch are fabricated. Over a temperature range of-40 to 85 ℃, the center wavelength shift is ±22 pm, and the insertion loss change is less than ±0.11 dB. 展开更多
