Tea is an important global commodity,with important tea-growing regions spanning across South America,Africa,and Asia,and burgeoning smaller-scale and artisanal tea production in the UK and Europe.In each of these regions,the quality and quantity of tea production,with their economic and social consequences,are highly sensitive to variations in the climate on both short-term weather,seasonal and climate change timescales.The provision of tailored climate information in a timely and accessible manner through the development,delivery and use of climate services can help tea-farmers and other relevant stakeholders better understand the impacts of climate variability and climate change on decision-making and a range of adaptive actions.This paper presents an overview of the Tea-CUP project(Co-developing Useful Predictions),a joint initiative between UK and Chinese partners,which aims to develop and implement solutions for improving robust decision-making.Co-production principles are core,ensuring that the resultant climate services are usable and useful;users'needs are met through close engagement and joint research and decision-making.The paper also reports on the exchange of knowledge and experiences,such as between tea growers in China and the UK,which has resulted from this collaborative work,fostering global knowledge sharing,enriching understanding,and driving innovation by integrating diverse perspectives and expertise from different countries.This is an unintended but valuable side-effect of the collaborative approach taken and highlights the benefits of a highly relational and multidisciplinary approach to climate services development that will inform future work in the field. 展开更多

This article explores the impact of the three-dimensional cultivation mode on the development of the Suzhou tea industry,focusing on the diversified estimation of the value of output per acre and sales mode.It introduces the history and traditional cultivation practices of tea in Suzhou,as well as the current challenges and problems faced by the industry.An in-depth analysis was conducted on the overview and improvement plans of the three-dimensional cultivation mode,covering relevant technical methods.Based on this analysis,the impact of the three-dimensional cultivation on the value of output per acre was studied and predicted.Its potential and advantages were explored and compared with the effectiveness of traditional cultivation models.Additionally,the impact of the three-dimensional cultivation mode on sales was analyzed,examining its market adaptability and competitiveness,as well as its advantages in expanding sales channels and market coverage.The study also focused on the promoting effect of diversified sales models on the Suzhou tea industry,including direct consumption market development,tea processing product development and promotion,and the integration of tea culture and the tourism industry.To ensure sustainable development,the article evaluates the environmental impact,economic feasibility,social benefits,and farmer benefits of the three-dimensional cultivation model.Finally,the prospects for the development of the Suzhou tea industry were discussed,and the positioning and response strategies of the threedimensional cultivation model were proposed. 展开更多

Through field investigation and relevant information collection,the actual cases of poverty alleviation in the development of dark tea industry in Anhua County are analyzed,and the poverty alleviation models and poverty alleviation paths of the dark tea industry are studied.The enterprise + base + farmer and cooperative + base + farmer are the specific forms in the Internet + agricultural industry poverty alleviation model in Anhua County. The help effect of the path and mechanism of poverty alleviation on poor households is analyzed,and the poverty alleviation model of supporting the dark tea industry in Anhua County is summarized. Based on the experience of Anhua City’s successful use of the Internet + dark tea industry to alleviate poverty,this article proposes four policy recommendations for the use of the Internet + agricultural industry model to alleviate poverty: strengthening the software and hardware infrastructure construction for the poverty alleviation model of Internet+ agricultural industry and fostering leading agricultural enterprises and cooperatives with strong ability to drive,giving play to the advantages of Internet + agricultural industry to alleviate poverty and seizing opportunities,improving the government’s capacity to use the Internet + agricultural industry poverty alleviation model and establishing targeted industry-supporting poverty alleviation system arrangements and organizational structure,and establishing a good poverty alleviation path and a close poverty alleviation benefit linkage mechanism to ensure the maximum benefits of poor households. 展开更多

However, the tea leaf products are less competitive in the international market because of the lack of brand. Sichuan Province as a province with large amount of tea leaves, characteristics of tea leaf industry in Sichuan Province were analyzed from three aspects, namely fundamental industrial characteristics, the competition strategy of a company and main competition measures. The tea industry in Sichuan Province was featured by its large amount of companies and low industrial concentration. The competition among tea companies often uses the strategy of different brands and low cost. The major way to compete was to build tea brand and to publicize the tea culture. Organic green tea was the main issue. Electronic business platform was applied. Study on the competition characteristics of tea industry in Sichuan can improve the regional competitiveness of tea industry and can make contribution to the entire tea industry in China. 展开更多

This study demonstrates the importance of conversion of tea farms in marginal land to fuelwood plantation by analyzing the current biophysical, economic and institutional pros and cons of each land uses for marginal small tea plantation holders (MSTH). The study is based on household survey and field investigation conducted in Matara and Badulla Districts of Sri Lanka. Both qualitative and quantitative data on important biophysical, economic and institutional factors was collected from a total of 81 MSTH, 50 from Matara and 31 from Badulla, and fuelwood consuming industries within 20 km of the study area. The result showed that MSTH are facing biophysical and economic problems that are forcing them to leave portion of their tea planation land uncultivated. With ongoing demand increase for fuelwood, presence of tree species already adaptable to the area and favorable property right condition, conversion of the existing marginal land to fuelwood plantation is a viable way to sustainably manage the MSTH farmland. This will also contribute to tackle environmental disasters the area is frequently facing due to abandoning of the marginal tea plantation land. 展开更多

目的:西南地区是我国茶产业重要地区,茶产业也是西南地区重要的农业产业,对云南、贵州和四川3个茶叶主产省展开竞争力评价及分析制约因素对产业高质量发展具有重要意义。方法:从茶叶生产、产业结构、经济效益、出口贸易等方面梳理3省茶... 目的:西南地区是我国茶产业重要地区,茶产业也是西南地区重要的农业产业,对云南、贵州和四川3个茶叶主产省展开竞争力评价及分析制约因素对产业高质量发展具有重要意义。方法:从茶叶生产、产业结构、经济效益、出口贸易等方面梳理3省茶产业发展现状,运用资源禀赋系数、显示性比较优势指数和综合比较优势指数评价云贵川3省茶产业竞争力。结果:云贵川3省具有拥有较强的资源禀赋、产业规模优势及综合比较优势,云南、贵州具有较强的出口贸易竞争力,但均存在相对出口不足的问题,贵州、四川生产效率比较优势不足。结论:结合云贵川3省茶产业发展及竞争力定量分析,从持续加强茶产业的扶持发展、提升茶叶国际贸易竞争力、推动茶产业高质量发展等方面给予对策建议。 展开更多
