The rectangular wire winding AC electrical machine has drawn extensive attention due to their high slot fill factor,good heat dissipation,strong rigidity and short end-windings,which can be potential candidates for some traction application so as to enhance torque density,improve efficiency,decrease vibration and weaken noise,etc.In this paper,based on the complex process craft and the electromagnetic performance,a comprehensive and systematical overview on the rectangular wire windings AC electrical machine is introduced.According to the process craft,the different type of the rectangular wire windings,the different inserting direction of the rectangular wire windings and the insulation structure have been compared and analyzed.Furthermore,the detailed rectangular wire windings connection is researched and the general design guideline has been concluded.Especially,the performance of rectangular wire windings AC machine has been presented,with emphasis on the measure of improving the bigger AC copper losses at the high speed condition due to the distinguished proximity and skin effects.Finally,the future trend of the rectangular wire windings AC electrical machine is prospected. 展开更多

The machine mainly consi... A special winding machine with high accuracy has just been developed and applied to the construction of HT-7U Tokamak. It is one of the critical facilities for R & D of HT-7U construction. The machine mainly consists of five parts, including a CICC pay-off spool, a fourroller correcting assembly, a four-roller forming/bending assembly, a continuous winding structure and a CNC control system with three-axis AC servo motors. The facility is used for Cable in Conduit Conductor (CICC) magnet fabrication of HT-7U. The main requirements of the winding machine are: continuous winding to reduce joints inside the coils; pre-forming CICC conductor to avoid winding with tension; suitable for all TF & PF coils of various coil shapes and within the dimension limit; improving the configuration tolerance and the special flatness of the CICC conductor. This paper emphasizes on the design and fabrication of the special winding machine for HT-7U. Some analyses and techniques in winding process for trial D-shape coil are also presented. 展开更多

Flexible continuous plastic films are used to produce various products, including optical films and packaging materials, because plastic film is suited to use in mass production manufacturing processes. Generally, the web handling process is applied to convey the plastic film, which is ultimately rewound into a roll using a rewinder. In this case, wrinkles, slippage and other defects may occur if the rewinding conditions are inadequate. In this paper, the authors explain the development of a rewinder system that prevents wound roll defects—primarily starring and telescoping. The system is able to prevent such defects by optimizing the rewinding conditions of tension and nip-load. Based on the optimum design technique, the tension and nip-load are calculated using a 32-bit personal computer. Our experiments have also empirically shown that this rewinder system can prevent roll defects when applying optimized tension and nip-load. Additionally, inexperienced operators can control this system easily. 展开更多

Fiber winding tension is an important factor in the molding techniques of composite material which influences the quality of winding product directly, and the tension control is a key technique in fiber winding techniques. This paper introduces a closed-loop tension control system with the programmable logic controller (PLC) with function modules as its control kernel, the alternating current (AC) servo motor as execute element and the radius-following device to accomplish the real-time radius compensation. The mechanism of the tension control system is analyzed and the numerical model is set up. The compensation technique of the radius of the scroll is analyzed. Experimental results show that the system is well qualified with high control precision and high reaction speed. 展开更多

It is a slow velocity machine compared with horizontal wind machines. Its efficiency is about twenty per cent. In this work experimental tests are presented using two kind of deflectors placed in front of the resistive blade. Such disposition allows to hide the resistant blade and to guide the flow toward the motrice blade. Two deflectors have been used: a short one and a long one. The results obtained in wind tunnel have shown that the long deflector is the more efficient, essentially for high values of the tip speed ratio. One has been interested, using a numerical approach, in the study of the influence of a wall on the aerodynamical field near the rotor. 展开更多

Machine stator winding insulation degradation is one of the main results of machine aging.It is non-negligible once this degradation process becomes asymmetric between phases.The traditional way to determine the insulation state of health is a partial discharge test.However,this method requires the system offline,which causes production loss and extra administrative burden.This paper presents an idea for better characterizing the insulation machine’s state of health using common-mode(CM)behavior in the machine-drive system.With the help of circuit decomposition methods and modeling tools,the CM quantities due to asymmetric aging show a unique characteristic that distinguishes itself from other differential-mode(DM)quantities in the equivalent circuit.It is shown effective to represent the asymmetric aging effect from the detection of system leakage current.This paper provides an analytical method to quantify this characteristic from mathematical approaches,and a proper approximation has been made on the CM equivalent model(CEM)such that the CM behavior is accurately characterized.The proposed method will serve the purpose of predicting machine abnormal behavior using the simple RLC circuit.Researchers can adapt this method to quantify and characterize the machine insulation state of health(SOH). 展开更多

To test the performance and optimize operational parameters of various frost protection wind machines,a control system of performance test-bed was designed and developed based on Programmable Logic Controller(PLC)and touch screen.The system realized automatic control of operational parameters including hydraulic platform height,impeller rotation speed,depression angle,rotation range and cycle.Field case study results shows that the control accuracy of all the parameters was achieved with the average errors of 2.11 cm for height,9.5 r/min for impeller rotation speed,0.83°for pan-tilt rotation range and 0.061 min for rotation cycle.With the control of the test-bed,the performances of various wind machines,such as the distribution of airflow and temperature,and frost protection effect,could be tested under various working conditions,which provide experiment supports for developing wind machines adapted to different conditions with higher frost protection effect. 展开更多

Wind machines have been increasingly applied to prevent frost damage through airflow disturbance in tea fields and orchards.An impeller is the most important component of the machine.However,there are few studies on customized impeller design or airflow disturbance performance.The objective of this study was to design a new impeller for frost protection wind machines based on reverse engineering and CFD simulation.The characteristic parameters of an impeller include blade cross-section shape,installation angle,sweep angle,hub ratio and blade number.The optimal combination of the above parameters was obtained through the simulation of the impeller’s aerodynamic performance.Field tests were conducted in a tea field to evaluate airflow disturbance performance of the designed impeller.The result shows that at a certain rotation speed and rotation diameter,the optimal combination of impeller parameters was:single arc cross-section ofϕ2400 mm,installation angle of 15°,sweep angle of 87°,hub ratio of 0.3 and blade number of 4,of which the impeller could achieve the highest usage of 0.56,the least consumed power of 1.363 kW and more uniform distribution of surface pressure on the windward side.Compared with other commercial frost protection wind machines,the maximum airflow velocity of the developed impeller was higher at 12 m in front of it.The probability of airflow velocity above 3.0 m/s within 30 min was the highest(71.7%),indicating its improvement of airflow stability.Without swing the new impeller could cover an effective area of 300 m2,which was similar to that of the commercial ones. 展开更多

Confronted with severe frost damage to plants,methods,technologies and equipment have been developed and applied during the past century.The paper presents a comprehensive review on the most effective and active technology to protect plants from radiation frost based on air disturbance technology.The working principle of the technology was elaborated with frost protection mechanism,structures and applicability of three types of working patterns:conventional wind machines,selective inverted sink and portable vertical blowing.As an automatic mechanized technology,control strategy,applicable occasion and proper parameters are introduced for each type of working pattern.The operation of the technology and equipment depends on plant critical temperature,prevailing climatic conditions,thermal inversions strength,as well as costs.The frost protection performance and effectiveness of conventional horizontal wind machines,selective inverted sinks and helicopters are discussed and compared from the cost-effectiveness and application aspects,and the feasibility of selective inverted sinks is still controversial.Therefore,conventional wind machines are the best choice for plant frost protection and consequently are widely used in temperate and subtropical areas throughout the world.The frost protection application with helicopters is not easy to use during the frost nights with high cost.The paper also provides researchers with some perspectives on improving air disturbance technology and its equipment,and some practice recommendations for growers. 展开更多

Experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of vertical blowing fans(VBF)for frost protection in a vineyard on a steep slope near Napa Valley in Northern California,USA,and a tea plantation located on undulating terrain in Zhenjiang,China.Minimum temperature comparisons from within the grape vineyard on nights with and without VBF operation with control station minimum temperatures exhibited no temperature benefit.Profile measurements from the test in China indicated that there was an increase in temperature when the VBF was first started,but that benefit was lost over time.No clear benefit from using the VBF was observed.Observation of frost deposition and thermal imagery also showed no benefit except for within about 5 m of the VBF.Based on this work,the effectiveness of the VBF for frost protection was not validated. 展开更多
