In this paper, a novel antenna is proposed for high-temperature testing, which can make the high-temperature pressure characteristics of a wireless passive ceramic pressure sensor demonstrated at up to a temperature of 600℃. The design parameters of the antenna are similar to those of the sensor, which will increase the coupling strength between the sensor and testing antenna. The antenna is fabricated in thick film integrated technology, and the properties of the alumina ceramic and silver ensure the feasibility of the antenna in high-temperature environments. The sensor, coupled with the ceramic antenna, is investigated using a high-temperature pressure testing platform. The experimental measurement results show that the pressure signal in a harsh environment can be detected by the frequency diversity of the sensor. 展开更多

A novel wireless and passive surface acoustic wave(SAW)sensor is developed for measuring temperature and pressure.The sensor has two single-port resonators on a substrate.One resonator,acting as the temperature sensor,is located at the fixed end without pressure deformation,and the other one,acting as the pressure sensor,is located at the free end to detect pressure changes due to substrate deformation.Pressure at the free end bends the cantilever,causing a relative change in the acoustic propagation characteristics of the SAW traveling along the surface of the substrate and a relative change in the resonant frequency of the resulting signal.The temperature acts on the entire substrate,affecting the propagation speed of the SAW on the substrate and directly affecting the resonant frequency characteristic parameters.The temperature and pressure performance of this new antenna-connected sensor is tested by using a network analyzer,a constant temperature heating station,and a force gauge.A temperature sensitivity of 1.5015 kHz/℃and a pressure sensitivity of 10.6 kHz/gf at the ambient temperature have been observed by wireless measurements.This work should result in practical engineering applications for high-temperature devices. 展开更多

The paper also addresses procedures of improving the accuracy of surface temperature measurement using the contact DS 18B20 digital temperature probes. In this letter,an Opportunistic Interference Cancellation(OIC) is first introduced as a rate control strategy for secondary user in cognitive wireless networks. Based on the OIC rate control method,an optimal power control strategy for multichannel cognitive wireless networks is proposed. The algorithm aims to maximize the total transmit rate of cognitive user through appropriately controlling the transmit power of each subchannel under the constraint that the interference temperature at the primary receiver is below a certain threshold. Three suboptimal power control methods,namely Equal Power Transmission(EPT) ,Equal Rate Transmission(ERT) and Equal Interference Transmission(EIT) ,are also proposed. The demand for electric vehicles has increased over the past few years.Wireless power transfer for electric vehicles provides more flexibility than traditional plug-in charging technology.Charging couplers are critical components in wireless power transfer systems.The thermal effect produced by the magnetic coupler in work will cause the temperature of the device to rise rapidly,affecting the work efficiency,transfer power,operation reliability,and service life.This paper modeled and analyzed each component's temperature distribution characteristics and thermal behavior.Firstly,the magnetic coupler's mutual inductance and magnetic circuit model are established,and the thermal model of the magnetic coupler analyzes the heat generation process.The thermal models of the coupler under three different magnetic core distributions are established,and the temperature rise of each component is obtained.The temperature rise of different parts of the coupler is verified by the temperature rise test structure of the experiment. 展开更多

NBTI Impact on RF Front End in Wireless Sensor Networks

In wireless sensor network (WSN), the communication node is the heart of the whole system. Negative bias temperature instability (NBTI) is becoming one of the most important factors that decide the life time of node chips, especially with the feature size declining. In this paper, the NBTI impact on the front-end circuits in the WSN nodes is studied, such as voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), charge pump (CP), low noise amplifier (LNA), and even the whole transceiver system. The circuit level NBTI degeneration models are built for the key modules and the entire transceiver. It is shown that the phase noise of the VCO will be deteriorated, the current mismatch of the CP and the noise figure of the LNA will both be increased, and the sensitivity and the adjacent channel selectivity (ACS) will be depressed by NBTI. The conclusions are proved by simulation results using HJTC 0.18 μm technology. 展开更多

The safety of lithium-ion batteries is an essential concern where instant and accurate temperature sensing is critical.It is generally desired to put sensors inside batteries for instant sensing.However,the transmission of internal measurement outside batteries without interfering their normal state is a non-trivial task due to the harsh electrochemical environment,the particular packaging structures and the intrinsic electromagnetic shielding problems of batteries.In this work,a novel in-situ temperature sensing framework is proposed by incorporating temperature sensors with a novel signal transmission solution.The signal transmission solution uses a self-designed integrated-circuit which modulates the internal measurements outside battery via its positive pole without package breaking.Extensive experimental results validate the noninterference properties of the proposed framework.Our proposed in-situ temperature measurement by the self-designed signal modulation solution has a promising potential for in-situ battery health monitoring and thus promoting the development of smart batteries. 展开更多
