Analysis of an event study using the Fama–French five‑factor model:teaching approaches including spreadsheets and the R programming language

The current financial education framework has an increasing need to introduce tools that facilitate the application of theoretical models to real-world data and contexts.However,only a limited number of free tools are available for this purpose.Given this lack of tools,the present study provides two approaches to facilitate the implementa-tion of an event study.The first approach consists of a set of MS Excel files based on the Fama–French five-factor model,which allows the application of the event study methodology in a semi-automatic manner.The second approach is an open-source R-programmed tool through which results can be obtained in the context of an event study without the need for programming knowledge.This tool widens the calculus possibilities provided by the first approach and offers the option to apply not only the Fama–French five-factor model but also other models that are common in the finan-cial literature.It is a user-friendly tool that enables reproducibility of the analysis and ensures that the calculations are free of manipulation errors.Both approaches are freely available and ready-to-use.

Group Investigation in a College English Program at a Chinese University:A Case Study

This study investigated the application and the effect of Group Investigation(GI) in the College English Program in a Chinese University. A qualitative case study method was used to understand the GI system used by Chinese instructors as well as the achievements acquired and challenges met by the participants. Three instructors and fifteen second-year-undergraduates taking a course titled Sources of European Culture participated. Interviews, observations, and documents were used to collect the data. Data analysis showed Chinese instructors applied a GI technique similar to that discussed by Johnson and Johnson(1999); however, GI in the Chinese context demanded more effort from the teacher for designing tasks and provided help in modeling uses of English and in preparing visual, especially Power Point, presentations. Although participants used their mother tongue at some stages, their autonomy over English learning was activated, and horizons in the course content were broadened.

Assessing the Effectiveness of a Cervical Cancer Screening Program in a Hospital-based Study

This study compared HPV testing and liquid-based cytology （LCT） as performance indicators for cervical cancer screening in a hospital-based study. A total of 61,193 outpatients were screened initially by LCT. Samples with screening results showing atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance （ASC-US） or worse were referred for colposcopy, and some samples were tested for high-risk HPV types with the Hybrid Capture II system （HC II）. Data on LCT （n=61,193） and HC II （n=1056） results were analysed. Overall test positivity for LCT was 2.53% using an ASC-US threshold, 3.11% using a low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion （LSIL） threshold, and 0.67% using a high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion （HSIL） threshold. A total of 1839 women （84% of the 3893 patients with abnormal cytology） underwent colposcopy-directed biopsy. HPV was positive in 80.3% of women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 1 （CIN1）, 88.3% of those with CIN2, 79.2% of women with CIN3 and 50% （2 of 4） of women with invasive cancer. There was a significant increase in the detection of CIN2 or worse with adjunct HPV testing of women with ASC-US and LSIL However, there were detection of CIN2＋ cases no differences in the with adjunct HPV testing of women with HSlI.. The results indicate that HPV testing for HSlL triage should not be recommended in cervical cancer screening.

Implementation and Evaluation of a Postpartum Care Program for Mothers Raising Infants: A Pilot Study

Background: The aims of this pilot study were to implement and evaluate a postpartum care program for mothers raising children younger than one year to provide physical relaxation, and to reduce mothers’ parenting problems. Methods: A day-service and group-type postpartum care program was implemented with the aim of interacting with peers, promoting local communication, and relaxing mothers. Results: Forty-five pairs of mothers and infants participated in the study. Most of the mothers experienced relaxation, communicated with each other, resolved physical problems, reduced childcare concerns, and developed parenting friends. Conclusions: In addition, feasibility was assured as they were very satisfied with the content of programs such as baby massage and aroma treatment.

A Case Study of Intercultural Interventions for Chinese University Students During Study Abroad Program in the University of Minnesota

In 21st Century, Chinese and American universities are experiencing great development in the number of students studying abroad. This research adopts the method of natural investigation, selecting Chinese student samples during study abroad program in the University of Minnesota to complete the designed questionnaires to examine the intercultural interventions taken before, during and after this type of study abroad in Chinese universities. Also, after students complete the questionnaires, email communication is made to analyze the reasons for their answers to the questionnaires. The questionnaire results and email communication show that there is a great gap in the practice of intercultural interventions in study abroad programs between Chinese universities and students expectations. It is time for Chinese universities to design appropriate intercultural interventions in order to maximize Chinese university students＇ intercultural development during study abroad. These intercultural interventions should be run consistently to cover the phrases of pre-departure, during and after the study abroad program. Also, more dynamic and interactive intercultural interventions rather than knowledge-based intercultural instructions or guidance should be the focus for intercultural interventions.

THE STUDY OF THE NON-STEADY KINETICS OF THE OXYDEHYDROGENATION OF ETHANE TO ETHYLENE OVER THE CATALYST OF Mo-V-Nb/Al_2O_3 BY THE TECHNIQUE OF TEMPERATURE PROGRAMMED TRANSIENT RESPONSE AND ELECTRIC CONDUCTIVITY

In this paper, instead of with the more expensive Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FTIR) a new technique of Temperature Programmed Transient Response(TP-TR) has been used with gas chromatography. Therefore, the TP-TR will be applied more widespreadly than ever before. With the technique of TP-TR and electric conductivity, the study is on the reaction mechanism and the adsorption behavior of the reactants and products to the present catalyst Mo-V-Nb/Al_2O_3 in the reaction from ethane through oxydehydrogenation to ethylene as the product. By Range-Kutta-Gill and Margarat methods, the kinetic parameters of the reaction elementary steps (i.e. rate constants, active energies and frequency factors) have been evaluated. The mathematical treatment coincides with the experimental results.

养老服务管理专业人才培养方案比较研究

目的:分析养老服务管理专业人才培养方案,为优化养老服务管理专业人才培养提供借鉴和参考。方法:选取国内16所高校养老服务管理专业的人才培养方案作为研究对象,运用比较分析的方法梳理人才培养方案存在的问题,提出优化建议。结果:16所高校养老服务管理专业人才培养方案中,仅有18.8%将目标定位于培养复合型人才;主干学科2~3个不等且不规范;核心课程159门且较零散;实践教学占总学分比例10%~33.1%;仅有37.5%将考核评价作为人才培养方案的核心要素。结论:高校应依据市场需求,结合专业特点、融合地理区域优势和学校特色,进一步优化人才培养目标、主干学科、课程设置、实践教学、考核评价,完善养老服务管理专业人才培养方案。

游学类通识课程中外环境概览的海外实践与探索——以同济大学佛罗伦萨海外校区为例

中外环境概览是同济大学基于佛罗伦萨海外校区在2023年新开设的游学类通识教育选修课程,使非环境专业的本科生在了解国内环境治理现状及主流环境治理技术的基础上,走出国门了解欧洲的环境治理理念、环境治理设施及主要的治理技术。通过水、气、固等模块化知识内容讲解,结合典型案例解析、实践参观和专题研讨,打通“理论学习-海外认知实践-国际文化交流”教学链。在此基础上,强化学生对保护生态环境的认知、践行生态文明理念,提升学生的国际视野和国际文化交流能力,培养学生的担当意识、家国情怀及全球胜任力。

风景园林策划——一种探究设计依据的途径

【目的】在当前风景园林项目的建设流程中,设计任务书的编制更多地依赖从业者的经验而非可靠的证据,设计依据的科学性、合理性难以把控。风景园林策划(landscape architectural programming)是研究设计依据形成过程的理论和方法,但当前风景园林策划相关研究尚处于起步阶段。【方法/过程】首先,通过追溯和比较分析策划在城市设计、建筑设计、风景园林领域的发展过程,对比设计策划在实践活动中所处的时序位置及内涵、目的等方面;其次,归纳开展科学研究的流程与层级,并应用至风景园林策划中,提出风景园林策划研究框架。【结果/结论】风景园林策划具有广义与狭义的不同内涵与定义,本质属性是导向设计科学决策的循证科学;风景园林策划的研究框架包含认识论与理论视角、策划方法论、策划程序、策划方法、策划技术5个部分。其中,策划方法论是开展策划所需的一套完整的行动计划,作为多种方法的系统化集合,统领策划程序、策划方法、策划技术3个方面,是当前风景园林策划领域的研究重点。

国家翻译学应用研究十题

国家翻译学是超学科综合性应用型研究,逻辑起点是国家翻译实践,研究任务是揭示国家翻译实践的本质规律,探索国家翻译实践的有效路径,最终落实到应用层面,是服务国家治理的战略需求。国家翻译学研究架构包含理论和应用研究两大面向。应用研究体现国家翻译学关怀现实、服务国家战略的价值追求。目前国家翻译学已基于国家翻译实践现实场景和未来发展态势,沿循“国家翻译+”知识生产路径,形成宏观、中观、微观三位一体的应用研究层次,产出了较为丰富的学术成果。本文结合国家翻译学研究现状和新时代国家翻译实践的现实需求与发展趋势,围绕国家翻译学应用研究本体、国家翻译治理和国家翻译价值问题,提出十个研究议题,旨在推动国家翻译研究的应用研究体系建设。

低碳视角下多式联运网络设计优化问题研究

网络设计与低碳补贴激励措施,是推进多式联运可持续发展的重要途径。基于此,从低碳视角研究水陆联运网络设计优化与补贴模式问题,考虑政府管理部门与物流用户的互动博弈行为,构建基于双层规划的水陆联运物流网络优化模型。该模型中上层规划(政府层)确定网络扩容投资决策及其补贴方案,从而最小化扩容投资与低碳补贴总成本,以及系统中碳排放量;下层模型(物流用户)则是基于广义费用的用户均衡分配模型。针对上述双层优化模型的特点,设计了基于相继平均配流算法(MSA)的改进快速非支配排序遗传算法(NSGA-Ⅱ)。以长江经济带中游地区的水陆联运物流网络为例,进行相应的实证研究,验证上述优化模型及算法的有效性;并且,在对网络进行扩容投资的情况下,对比4种补贴方案,即1)对铁路及水运弧段按固定值进行补贴;2)不进行补贴;3)不同地区的铁路及水运弧段的补贴不同;4)补贴值随机连续。研究结果表明:扩容投资可以减少网络中的超载弧段数量,同时提升网络性能;对铁路及水运弧段进行运输补贴能有效降低碳排放量;若政府关注预算限制,则倾向于按固定值补贴的方案;若更重视碳减排效果,则倾向于采取不同地区不同补贴值的方案。

五四时期湖南青年赴法勤工俭学及建党活动——以湖南第一师范学校赴法学生为考察主体

五四时期,以蔡和森、向警予、李维汉、李立三、罗学瓒、张昆弟、李富春、蔡畅、萧三为代表的湖南青年,怀抱“改造中国与世界”的志向,引导了留法勤工俭学运动向俄国十月社会主义革命的方向发展。其中,蔡和森是最早提议建党并取名“中国共产党”的人,并建议新民学会在法国的分支“工学世界社”更名“少年共产党”。正因为有蔡和森等湖南青年在海外从事建党实践,毛泽东评价他们与国内建党的创始人一样,都是中国共产党早期组织在海外的创始人。

关于高校图书馆勤工助学工作的调查研究——基于对山西省部分高校学生的问卷与访谈

图书馆助理员是大学生参加人数最多的勤工助学项目,他不仅从经济上帮助贫困家庭学生完成学业,而且对于提高大学生综合素质和促进图书馆服务能力建设也发挥着积极作用。但在具体实践中,部分高校图书馆对勤工助学工作仍存在重视程度不足、功能定位不准、管理体制不健全等问题。高校图书馆应高度重视勤工助学工作、推动“勤工促学”定位的转变,并从工作规划、岗位开发、学生招募、组织管理、考核激励等方面健全管理制度建设。

积极老龄化背景下的老年游学需求分析——以云南老年开放大学为例

随着中国步入人口老龄化社会,我国提出了要积极应对人口老龄化。老年教育尤其是老年游学项目,已经成为提升老年人生活质量的重要方式。经过对云南老年开放大学学员对游学项目的需求调研,共分发了409份调查问卷,经筛选,有效问卷385份,通过分析问卷中的学员的基本信息、对游学的认知、兴趣和需求,发现参与者对游学项目表现出浓厚兴趣,他们强调活动的安全、经济可承受性以及内容的多样化。为此,通过定制游学方案、加强安全与健康保障、考虑经济的可承受性、设计灵活多样的游学内容等方式可为游学项目的规划和实施提供切实可行的建议。

职业本科与普通本科、高职专科人才培养研究

基于图神经网络的最大化代数连通度算法

随着智能体数量的增加,多智能体系统中潜在的通信链路数量呈指数级增长.过多冗余链路的存在给系统带来了大量的能源浪费和维护成本,而盲目地去除链路又会降低系统的稳定性和安全性.代数连通度是衡量图连通性的重要指标之一.然而,传统的半正定规划(SDP)方法和启发式算法在求解大规模场景下的最大化代数连通度问题时非常耗时.在本文中,我们提出了一种监督式的图神经网络模型来优化多智能体系统的代数连通度.我们将传统的SDP方法应用于小规模任务场景中,得到足够丰富的训练样本和标签.在此基础上,我们训练了一个图神经网络模型,该模型可用于更大规模的任务场景中.实验结果表明,当需要去除15条边时,我们的模型的平均性能达到了传统SDP方法的98.39%.此外,我们的模型计算时间极其有限,可以推广到实时场景中去.
