Application of Mind Mapping in General Zoology Teaching

Against the background of the new curriculum reform,teachers are no longer just expected to impart knowledge exclusively,but they also carry the responsibility to encourage students to think independently,improve students’thinking skills,and cultivate good learning and thinking habits among students,so as to enable students to use knowledge in a flexible manner and improve their thinking skills.General zoology is a highly specialized discipline,with scattered knowledge points and various concepts.Since the traditional teaching mode limits students’mastery of knowledge points,teachers need to find a teaching method that can help students understand knowledge points and exercise independent thinking.Mind mapping is a concrete thinking tool that helps students exercise their thinking skills.The introduction of mind mapping in the teaching of general zoology allows students to have a clearer understanding of the overall framework of this discipline.The application of mind mapping can be divided into four parts:pre-class preview,classroom study,after-class review,and zoology experiment.The application of mind mapping to teaching not only improves students’learning efficiency,but also enhances students’comprehensive ability and stimulates their interest in general zoology.In this paper,the 17th chapter of“Fish”in general zoology is taken as an example to elaborate the application of mind mapping in the teaching of general zoology.

哺乳动物对气候变化响应的研究热点演变分析——基于动物学记录(Zoology Record)的文献计量分析

利用Thomson Data Analysis软件对Zoology Record数据库中收录的1 942篇哺乳动物对气候变化响应领域的期刊论文做了重点分析。以关键词为核心分析了不同哺乳动物物种、不同地质年代的研究热点分布和研究热点演变,以及2001-2005年、2006-2010年、2011-2015年3个年代段中的研究热点的演变规律。结果显示:进入2000年以后,该领域文献呈现逐年递增;研究热点显示出了较强的物种相关性;不同地质年代对应的物种研究有细微变化;3个文献发表年代段的研究热点显示出了该领域的热点演变规律。

动物学Zoology主题研究发展与趋势的可视化分析

以1900~2013年Web of Science（WOS）收录的动物学（Zoology）为主题的文献为数据源,借助WOS分析功能和CiteSpaceⅡ信息可视化软件,对数据进行共引、聚类以及突变分析,揭示动物学中Zoology主题研究的优势国家和地域,追踪和揭示领域前沿和热点。结果发现：纵深发展形成了动物系统学和保护生物为基础的两个前沿和趋势,形成了＂中国＂、＂新物种＂等研究热点,我们应以此为契机,进一步加强与国际的交流合作,将动物进化学和保护生物学有机结合,提出具有创新性及重大影响的新理论,进一步推动我国动物学的前沿领域发展。

Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, acquires GLP certification from the CFDA

The Center for Drug Safety Evaluation from the Kunming Institute of Zoology （KIZ） acquired Good Laboratory Practice （GLP） Certification from the China Food and Drug Administration （CFDA） on June 30, 2015. This is the second pre-clinical safety evaluation organization to have obtained GLP Certification in the Yunnan Province and within the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is also the first GLP center to have qualification for toxicokinetics testing in Yunnan.

Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology

The Kunming Natural History Museum of Zoology is located in the campus of Kunming Institute of Zoology （KIZ）, the Chinese Academy of Sciences （CAS）. The museum occupies 7 350 square meters, including a research specimen library, a science awareness hall and a multi-functional reference room. The museum is currently housing the most substantial collections of zoological specimens in southwest China.

Yunnan snub-nosed monkey research of the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences

At the beginning of 2016, I returned to the Baima Snow Mountain with a CC＇I-V film crew. As the birth place of the Yunnan snub-nosed monkey, Baima Snow Mountain in northwest Yunnan belongs to the transition zone between the Qinghai-Tibet and Yunnan-Guizhou plateaus, and is regarded as the most magnificent of the Yunling Mountains. Revisiting my old haunt, I cannot help but recall the international snub-nosed monkey research launched by the Kunming Institute of Zoology （KIZ） so many years ago.

Situating and teaching 21st century zoology: revealing pattern in the form and function of animals

The current challenges(increasing levels of integration in the biological sciences)facing the teaching of zoology and the structure of the zoology curriculum are explored herein.General context is provided and a more focused scrutiny of the situation in North America is presented.The changing emphases in more broadly-based biological sciences programs in North America are outlined,and their influence on the role of zoology as part of fundamental biological training is considered.The longer term impact of such changes in emphasis on the teaching of zoology is discussed,and the central role that zoology can play in dealing with both science content and science education is advanced.Based upon a focal workshop on the future of the zoology curriculum in Canada,a perspective on the challenges facing curriculum evolution is provided.Extensive curriculum redesign is called for to ensure that zoology provides a broad-scale integrative approach to the understanding of biodiversity in evolutionary,ecologi-cal and functional contexts.Barriers to,and drivers of change are identified and the need for collaborative ap-proaches to curricular evolution is emphasized.

Zoology, Celibacy, and the Heterosexual Imperative： Notes on Teaching Lu Xun＇s ＂Loner＂ as a Queer Text

This essay reflects on the reception of Lu Xun＇s short story ＂The Loner＂ （Gudu zhe, alternately translated as ＂The Lone Wolf, The Misanthrope,＂ and ＂The Isolate＂） in American classrooms, where students have sometimes wondered whether that character might be read as ＂queer.＂ It suggests that the title character＇s unusual and self-imposed celibacy is probably best explained by his belief, in a very general sense, in the foundational values of zoology as practiced in Japan and China in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and thus that the story may be a better gateway to understanding the ways in which Lu Xun envisioned the mixed impact of new political economies on private life than a source text for queer studies. At the same time, however, this essay emphasizes that in ＂The Loner,＂ as elsewhere, accounting for the ＂heterosexual imperative＂ of early zoology （e.g., with its emphases on animal husbandry, propagation, reproduction） can have meaningful consequences for ＂queering＂ interpretations of received texts from literature, history of science, and beyond.

Mitogenomic phylogeny of the Asian colobine genus Trachypithecus with special focus on Trachypithecus phayrei(Blyth, 1847) and description of a new species

Trachypithecus,which currently contains 20 species divided into four groups,is the most speciose and geographically dispersed genus among Asian colobines.Despite several morphological and molecular studies,however,its evolutionary history and phylogeography remain poorly understood.Phayre’s langur(Trachypithecus phayrei) is one of the most widespread members of the genus,but details on its actual distribution and intraspecific taxonomy are limited and controversial.Thus,to elucidate the evolutionary history of Trachypithecus and to clarify the intraspecific taxonomy and distribution of T.phayrei,we sequenced 41 mitochondrial genomes from georeferenced fecal samples and museum specimens,including two holotypes.Phylogenetic analyses revealed a robustly supported phylogeny of Trachypithecus,suggesting that the T.pileatus group branched first,followed by the T.francoisi group,and the T.cristatus and T.obscurus groups most recently.The four species groups diverged from each other 4.5-3.1 million years ago(Ma),while speciation events within these groups occurred much more recently(1.6-0.3 Ma).Within T.phayrei,we found three clades that diverged 1.0-0.9 Ma,indicating the existence of three rather than two taxa.Following the phylogenetic species concept and based on genetic,morphological,and ecological differences,we elevate the T.phayrei subspecies to species level,describe a new species from central Myanmar,and refine the distribution of the three taxa.Overall,our study highlights the importance of museum specimens and provides new insights not only into the evolutionary history of T.phayrei but the entire Trachypithecus genus as well.

Research on Adaptability of Construction Project from Point of Ecology

Concept of zoology energy is advanced,zoology energy development trend line and zoology energy development curve of construction project are traced out in this paper.From the point of construction project itself,its adaptability can be shown in its own strong zoology energy,dominant in zoology energy sequence of its engineering population,great niche breath and less superpostion(overlap) in its engineering community.Adaptability of construction project is researched from the angle of ecology which can be taken as basic research of consistent development of construction project,and enrich evaluation system of construction project.

An “impact” in publishing

On 20 June 2019, Clarivate Analytics (2019) announced its Journal Citation Reports of 2018. From this, Zoological Research (ZR) received its first impact factor based on citations in 2018 for indexed papers published during 2016 to 2017.
