2023:A year of accomplishments for the 13 Science Citation Index Expanded-and Emerging Sources Citation Index-indexed Baishideng journals

In 2023,Baishideng Publishing Group(Baishideng)routinely published 47 openaccess journals,including 46 English-language journals and 1 Chinese-language journal.Our successes were accomplished through the collective dedicated efforts of Baishideng staffs,Editorial Board Members,and Peer Reviewers.Among these 47 Baishideng journals,7 are included in the Science Citation Index Expanded(SCIE)and 6 in the Emerging Sources Citation Index(ESCI).With the support of Baishideng authors,company staffs,Editorial Board Members,and Peer Reviewers,the publication work of 2023 is about to be successfully completed.This editorial summarizes the 2023 activities and accomplishments of the 13 SCIEand ESCI-indexed Baishideng journals,outlines the Baishideng publishing policy changes and additions made this year,and highlights the unique advantages of Baishideng journals.

Relationship between Reflective Practice Skills and Volume of Writing in a Reflective Journal

Background: According to the diversification of the health needs and the expansion of health disparities, public health nurses need to improve their practical capabilities, starting from basic education in graduate and undergraduate courses. And Reflective Practice with using reflective journal is one way of improving practical capabilities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the volume of reflective journal and the quality of progress in the reflective cycle. Methods: The participants in this study were 20 junior students majoring in public health nursing (hereinafter “PHN students”) at a university in the Chugoku area, Japan. We asked the participants to answer the questions on Reflective Practice Skills (RPS) composed of six criteria corresponding to the six questions of Gibbs on the reflective cycle before and after they started writing RJ. The volume of reflective writing was measured by the number of characters written by the PHN students in RJ of the reflective practice for three months. The study plan was approved by the Ethics Committee for Nursing Study, Okayama University. Results: Although the average total RPS score showed a change of about 3 points as a result of the 3-month RJ writing exercise, no correlation was observed between the RPS score and the RJ writing volume (r = 0.175). However, we did observe a moderately positive correlation between the RPS score and the RJ writing volume with regard to Items 5 and 6 (r = 0.475 and r = 0.444, respectively). Conclusion: This study indicated that detailed RJ writing helps to complete the reflective cycle all the way to theorization and action planning, and that the volume of writing may serve as a criterion for qualitative evaluation.

An exciting time to launch the World Journal of Hematology

This first issue of the World Journal of Hematology(WJH) marks the birth of a new member of the World Series Journal family and comes at one of the most exciting times in stem cell biology and translational medicine. The pace of discovery in the field of hematology has accelerated signeificantly in recent years, due to important scientific discoveries and new technologies for purification of hematopoietic stem cells and identification of specific stem cell biomarkers; whole genome sequencing using next-generation sequencing technology; and development of molecularly-targeted therapies, leading to the translation of highly promising science into advanced diagnosis and proven targeted therapies for hematopoietic disorders. The WJH is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, which is officially published on June 6, 2012. The WJH Editorial Board consists of 102 experts in hematology from 26 countries. There is clearly a niche for this new journal, which provides access to all articles without boundaries to all internet users throughout the world. The WJH aims to provide rapid access to high impact publications in fundamental and clinical hematology, with multidisciplinary coverage, through an established system that is targeted at dissemination to the scientific community via online openaccess.

煤岩及泥炭成熟度热模拟研究——镜质组反射率演化特征及其地质意义

通过高温高压模拟实验,在20℃/h和2℃/h两种升温速率条件下,对沁水盆地山西组和太原组煤岩以及现代泥炭模拟固体产物镜质组反射率Ro演化特征进行了分析和研究.结果表明:1)在336.8～600℃的模拟温度区间,2℃/h和20℃/h两种升温速率条件下,模拟固体产物Ro值太原组煤岩分别为1.07%～4.50%和0.83%～3.97%,山西组煤岩分别为0.98%～4.51%和0.80%～4.05%,泥炭分别为0.96%～4.19%和0.72%～3.72%.2)随着实验温度的增高,煤岩以及泥炭的热模拟固体产物累积Ro值都呈直线增加,并且在实验温度区间范围内,2℃/h升温速率条件下的Ro值增长值都要高于20℃/h升温速率条件下的Ro值增长值,说明升温速率是影响有机质热成熟演化过程的重要因素.3)在2种升温速率条件下,煤岩以及泥炭固体产物的Ro值随温度的相对波动较为明显,这主要反映了Ro值热演化的阶段性特征,总体来说,煤岩与泥炭的固体产物镜质组反射率在演化阶段上具有较多的相似性.但是太原组煤岩固体产物的Ro值变化相对幅度较大,而山西组煤岩和泥炭则较小.4)在相同的升温速率条件下,同一温度不同样品之间模拟固体产物的累积Ro值不同,大部分温度点处太原组煤岩Ro值最高,山西组煤岩次之,泥炭最低,并且各个样品之间Ro值的相对变化显著。

界面反射P-SV波转型超声散斑统计特性

对超声P波入射至强散射粗糙界面上时,反射声场中的转型SV波散斑的统计特性进行研究。根据Frensel-Huygens理论和自相关原理,得到了SV波散斑振幅概率密度函数的Rayleigh分布形式以及散斑平均横向尺寸的计算公式。进而又得到了,在使用具有一定尺寸孔径的横波探头时,所接收的SV波散斑的归一化声强的概率密度函数表达式,它与横波探头内接收到的平均散斑个数有关。在实验中,应用了两种不同孔径尺寸的横波探头对SV波的散斑声强进行测量。对测量所得的散斑合强度的数据进行统计分析的结果表明,实验值与理论值有较好的一致性。由此证实,上述理论分析的结果是正确的。

Progress in the Application of Reflective Education on Undergraduate Nursing Interns

Objective:To explore the implementation methods and effects of reflective education,and to provide references for the development of reflective education in Chinese nursing schools.Methods:Relevant literature was searched from China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang Database,Wipro Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database,and PubMed Database,and the included studies were analyzed descriptively.Results:The implementation of reflective education included work-site education,group discussion,video teaching,self-reflection,and expert lectures;the interventions mainly included study groups,role-playing,individual instruction,peer cooperation,demonstration and observation,field simulation,and video presentations.The implementation of reflective education can improve the sense of professional identity and professional competence of nursing interns,and reduce nursing errors and adverse events.Conclusion:Currently,nurses in China lack self-awareness and critical thinking skills,it is recommended that reflective education be incorporated into the teaching content of undergraduate nursing students during their internship in order to promote the development of professionalism and humanistic caring skills of nursing students.

Research fronts and researchers of World Journal of Psychiatry in 2023: A visualization and analysis of mapping knowledge domains

BACKGROUND In the rapidly evolving landscape of psychiatric research,2023 marked another year of significant progress globally,with the World Journal of Psychiatry(WJP)experiencing notable expansion and influence.AIM To conduct a comprehensive visualization and analysis of the articles published in the WJP throughout 2023.By delving into these publications,the aim is to deter-mine the valuable insights that can illuminate pathways for future research endeavors in the field of psychiatry.METHODS A selection process led to the inclusion of 107 papers from the WJP published in 2023,forming the dataset for the analysis.Employing advanced visualization techniques,this study mapped the knowledge domains represented in these papers.RESULTS The findings revealed a prevalent focus on key topics such as depression,mental health,anxiety,schizophrenia,and the impact of coronavirus disease 2019.Additionally,through keyword clustering,it became evident that these papers were predominantly focused on exploring mental health disorders,depression,anxiety,schizophrenia,and related factors.Noteworthy contributions hailed authors in regions such as China,the United Kingdom,United States,and Turkey.Particularly,the paper garnered the highest number of citations,while the American Psychiatric Association was the most cited reference.CONCLUSION It is recommended that the WJP continue in its efforts to enhance the quality of papers published in the field of psychiatry.Additionally,there is a pressing need to delve into the potential applications of digital interventions and artificial intelligence within the discipline.

Generative AI,represented by GPT(Generative Pre-trained Transformer),is now leading the technological revolution and is reconstructing the journalism and communication industries'ecosystems because of its powerful generative capacity and diverse range of outputs.While GPT is busy revolutionizing and innovating the production of news content,working patterns,and operation modes,it has also given rise to ethical concerns in regard to news authenticity,data security,humanistic values,and other related aspects.Therefore,it is imperative to initiate strategies and approaches,such as establishing a mechanism for verifying information authenticity,enhancing data security and privacy regulations,and instituting an ethical supervision and governance framework for AI,in order to facilitate the systematic advancement of AI-based news production while reinstating public trust.

麦蚜对小麦冠层光谱特性的影响研究

通过对田间不同程度麦蚜危害的小麦冠层反射光谱测量,研究了各波段反射光谱的变异特征,并对光谱反射曲线进行微分分析。结果表明:在麦蚜危害的初期,近红外反射率明显降低,即陡坡效应受到明显的削弱,随着麦蚜危害程度加重,小麦冠层的反射率在不同波段有明显下降,尤其在近红外区下降更为显著。利用光谱微分技术,对受麦蚜不同程度危害的小麦冠层反射率求一阶导数,得到红边斜率。结果表明,麦蚜危害后小麦冠层的红边斜率在近红外波段发生剧烈的变化,且随着危害程度的加重其值逐步下降。将归一化植被指数(NDVI)分别和百株蚜量进行相关及回归分析,并对监测蚜虫敏感波段的选择做了初步的探讨。
