For a batch-type silicon wafer wet cleaning bath, a slim water injection nozzle consisting of a dual tube was studied, based on theoretical calculations and experiments. A thin inner tube was placed at the optimum position in the water injection nozzle. Such a simple design could make the water injection direction normal and the water velocity profile symmetrical along the nozzle. The water flow in the wet cleaning bath was observed using a blue-colored ink tracer. When the nozzle developed in this study was placed at the bottom of the bath, a fast and symmetrical upward water stream was formed between and around the wafers.展开更多

This paper assumes a realistic linear model for accumulation of dust on the solar panels and the resulting hourly average of absolute loss of efficiency in solar panels. This model accurately depicts the fact that energy production by solar panels occurs during sunshine hours only and also accounts for the degradation in the efficiency of solar panels due to dust accumulation throughout the entire day. Based on this, the optimal number of days for maximum financial profit and the critical number of days (above which there is no profit in installing solar panels) have been estimated. Furthermore, we have suggested a formalism to help estimate the finances for self-cleaning technology for PV system and also for calculating the minimum payback period for installing solar panels with the financial cost of the cleaning cycles properly considered. This research could be motivation for companies in developing self-cleaning mechanism for PV system.展开更多

In this study, we investigate if there is a systematic difference coming from the choice between the Vienna Mapping Function 1(VMF1) and the Global Mapping Function(GMF) for the modeling of Zenith Total Delay(ZTD) estimates, as well as the Integrated Precipitable Water Vapor(IPWV) estimates that are deduced from them. As ZTD estimates cannot be fully separated from coordinate estimates, we also investigated the coordinate repeatability between subsequent measurements. For this purpose, we monitored twelve GNSS stations on a global scale, for each of the three climatic zones(polar, mid-latitudes and tropical), with four stations on each zone. We used an automated processing based on the Bernese GNSS Software Version 5.2 by applying the Precise Point Positioning(PPP)approach, L3 Ionosphere-free linear combination, 7 cutoff elevation angle and 2 h sampling. We noticed an excellent agreement with the ZTD estimates and coordinate repeatability for all the stations w.r.t to CODE(the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe) and USNO(US Naval Observatory) products, except for the Antarctic station(Davis) which shows systematic biases for the GMF related results. As a final step, we investigated the effect of using two mapping functions(VMF1 and GMF) to estimate the IPWV,w.r.t the IPWV estimates provided by the Integrated Global Radiosonde Archive(IGRA). The GPS-derived IPWV estimates are very close to the radiosonde-derived IPWV estimates, except for one station in the tropics(Tahiti).展开更多

The scrubber was operated using tap water as a scrubbing liquid. The outlet liquid flow rate, Qo, and accumulation rate, Qa, strongly depend on the inlet liquid flow rate, Qin, with different profiles. At higher Qin values, Qo stabilizes, leading to higher Qa and finally flooding. The values of Qa were higher than Qo except for Qin ranging between 0.53 and 0.72 L/s (safe operating range) in which Qa ≌ Qo and Qa = Qin/2. The outlet-to-inlet liquid flow rate ratio, Qo/Qin decreased for Qin > 0.53 L/s. The increase in the accumulation-to-inlet liquid flow rate ratio, Qa/Qin, at higher Qin indicates a change in flow regime towards flooding, accompanied by an abrupt increase in the height of accumulating liquid, Ha. The difference between Qa/Qin and Qo/Qin (denoted as, ΔQao/Qin), shows a minimum close to zero in the safe operating range. The gas flow rate towards the wet scrubber had slight effect on Qo and Qa when Qin was maintained constant. The ratio Qo/Qin decreased slightly with Ha/Ht irrespective of gas velocity. Changing the liquid-to-gas ratio, L/G and Qin strongly affects the maximum and minimum values of Qo/Qin and Qa/Qin.展开更多
