The participants of this discourse cooperate very well to carry on their conversation in a very interesting way in a broadcast studio. This paper will primarily cover textual analysis, context analysis, and make a clear comparison from other genres of discourse to highlight its characteristics.

Beyond Binary Opposition： Reinterpretation of Mr. Pontellier in the Awakening

The American writer Kate Chopin＇s masterpiece, The Awakening published in the late 19th century is one of the classics in female literature. The heroine Edna having the courage to pursue self-reliance and express her self-awareness, is regarded as a ＂new woman＂, while the comments on her husband, Mr. Pontellier are quite negative--He regards Edna as a private property and a sexual tool, leading to her awakening and suicide. In this paper, the author reinterprets Mr. Pontellier with the method of close reading in new criticism, deeming that it is the binary opposition in thinking that leads to the misreading. Mr. Pontellier was just a follower of the tradition and custom. The objective evaluation and reinterpretation to him can help students to develop the habit of critical thinking and the courage to pursue truth is case they form a simple thinking mode of the binary opposition.

On the Ethics of Cultural Heritage Protection

This paper tries to address the problem of a lack of ethics about intangible cultural heritage protection in current China from the perspective of the history of ideas. Though this is a not a new angle and many papers have given a more or less comprehensive discussion about this, this paper will endeavor to give a more systematic account. 合作教学作为一种有效的教学方式,20世纪70年代初兴起于美国,80年代—90年代在中国也有实践研究。一名外教和两名中国英语教师于2006年—2007年在宁夏师范学院就《英语国家社会文化》课程进行合作教学实践研究,旨在开阔学生视野,提高学生跨文化意识和小课题研究能力,以及提高教师合作和专业发展能力。实践合作教学如何很好地促进学生学习有效性和教师专业发展,探索合作教学对职前和在职师范教育培训的有效性,合作教学实践和效果检测表明"合作教学"虽有压力和挑战,但能很好地调动学生的学习积极性和主动性,能很好地提高学生的学习自主性,开阔了学生的文化视野,培养了学生跨文化意识和小课题研究能力,尤其是很好地促进了合作教师的协作能力、科研能力和文化洞察力等专业能力发展。结论认为合作教学方式是一种有效的培训方式,值得提倡。

THE FACILITATING EFFECT OF TRANSLATION ON EFL (ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE)WRITINGⅡ:WRITERS' ATTENTION PATTERNS

This study is undertaken to find out writers' attention patterns in these two different writing methods (the direct method and the translation-based method) during the writing process through the think-aloud method and EFL learners' perception of the advantages and disadvantages of those two writing methods.The results show that the subjects' attention patterns in the direct method and in the translation-based method are quite different and the differences are mainly embodied in the linguistic level attention and personal comment.As far as the subjects are concerned,writing directly in English is easier and faster than writing through translation,and the direct writing method often helps them learn English language and forces them to focus on English expression.In contrast,for the translation-based writing method,the subjects as a whole relate that they have a wide range of vocabulary and expressions,have a greater number of ideas,and can think through ideas clearly.

Higher cortical modulation of pain perception in the human brain:Psychological determinant

Pain perception and its genesis in the human brain have been reviewed recently. In the current article, the reports on pain modulation in the human brain were reviewed from higher cortical regulation, i.e. top-down effect, particularly studied in psychological determinants. Pain modulation can be examined by gene therapy, physical modulation, pharmacological modulation, psychological modulation, and pathophysiological modulation. In psychological modulation, this article exam- ined （a） willed determination, （b） distraction, （c） placebo, （d） hypnosis, （e） meditation, （f） qi-gong, （g） belief, and （h） emotions, respectively, in the brain function for pain modulation. In each, the operational definition, cortical processing, neuroimaging, and pain modulation were systematically deliberated. However, not all studies had featured the brain modulation processing but rather demonstrated potential effects on human pain. In our own studies on the emotional modulation on human pain, we observed that emotions could be induced from music melodies or pictures perception for reduction of tonic human pain, mainly in potentiation of the posterior alpha EEG fields, likely resulted from underneath activities of precuneous in regulation of consciousness, including pain perception. To sum, higher brain functions become the leading edge research in all sciences. How to solve the information bit of thinking and feeling in the brain can be the greatest challenge of human intelligence. Application of higher cortical modulation of human pain and suffering can lead to the progress of social humanity and civilization.

The modern context and ancient resources of Chinese literature

To enter into and utilize the resources of ancient literature is a necessity for literary modernity. In the twentieth century, modern Chinese literature generally adopted four paradigms in pursuit of this objective： the socio-political paradigm that viewed traditional literature in terms of ＂quintessence-dross＂ under the guidance of the Marxist doctrine of the critical inheritance of cultural heritage; the ＂spiritual awakening＂ paradigm that, being inspired by Western schools of thought such as hermeneutics, viewed traditional literature as ＂the source of new literature＂; the scientific-aesthetic paradigm that viewed traditional literature as combining scientific interpretation and modern aesthetics and focused on interpretation, transformation, innovation and creation from within; and the folk paradigm that viewed literary tradition as a narrative of daily life demonstrating the way in which ancient and modern literature were connected in a cultural whole. What is important in the complementary and competitive development of these coexisting paradigms is highlighting ＂problem consciousness＂ in ＂interaction＂ and ＂original creation＂ and the reconstruction of the value of real human life through entering into and reactivating the resources of ancient literature.
