This leads naturally to the derivation of minimum variance distortionless response(MVDR) algorithm, which combines the benefits of subspace methods with those of wavelet, and spatially smoothed versions are utilized which exhibits good performance against correlated signals. We test the method's performance by simulating and comparing the performance of proposed algorithm, FFT MVDR and MVDR with correlated signals, and an improved performance is obtained.展开更多

Two new methods were presented for power flow tracing(PFT).These two methods were compared and the results were discussed in detail.Both methods use the active and reactive power balance equations at each bus in order...Two new methods were presented for power flow tracing(PFT).These two methods were compared and the results were discussed in detail.Both methods use the active and reactive power balance equations at each bus in order to solve the tracing problem.The first method considers the proportional sharing assumption while the second one uses the circuit laws to find the relationship between power inflows and outflows through each line,generator and load connected to each bus of the network.Both methods are able to handle loop flow and loss issues in tracing problem.A formulation is also proposed to find the share of each unit in provision of each load.These methods are applied to find the producer and consumer's shares on the cost of transmission for each line in different case studies.As the results of these studies show,both methods can effectively solve the PFT problem.展开更多
In the last decade,cognitive radio(CR) has emerged as a major next generation wireless networking technology,which is the most promising candidate solution to solve the spectrum scarcity and improve the spectrum utili...In the last decade,cognitive radio(CR) has emerged as a major next generation wireless networking technology,which is the most promising candidate solution to solve the spectrum scarcity and improve the spectrum utilization.However,there exist enormous challenges for the open and random access environment of CRNs,where the unlicensed secondary users(SUs) can use the channels that are not currently used by the licensed primary users(PUs) via spectrum-sensing technology.Because of this access method,some malicious users may access the cognitive network arbitrarily and launch some special attacks,such as primary user emulation attack,falsifying data or denial of service attack,which will cause serious damage to the cognitive radio network.In addition to the specifi c security threats of cognitive network,CRNs also face up to the conventional security threats,such as eavesdropping,tampering,imitation,forgery,and noncooperation etc..Hence,Cognitive radio networks have much more risks than traditional wireless networks with its special network model.In this paper,we considered the security threats from passive and active attacks.Firstly,the PHY layer security is presented in the view of passive attacks,and it is a compelling idea of using the physical properties of the radio channel to help provide secure wireless communications.Moreover,malicious user detection is introduced in the view of active attacks by means of the signal detection techniques to decrease the interference and the probabilities of false alarm and missed detection.Finally,we discuss the general countermeasures of security threats in three phases.In particular,we discuss the far reaching effect of defensive strategy against attacks in CRNs.展开更多

A real seamless wireless mobile environment is only realized by considering vertical and horizontal handoffs together. One of the major design issues in heterogeneous wireless networks is the support of Vertical Handoff (VHO). VHO occurs when a multi-interface enabled mobile terminal changes its Point of Attachment (PoA) from one type of wireless access technology to another, while maintaining an active session. In this paper we present a novel multi-criteria VHO algorithm, which chooses the target NAT based on several factors such as user preferences, system parameters, and traf- tic-types with varying Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Two modules i.e., VHO Neces- sity Estimation (VHONE) module and target NAT selection module, are designed. Both modules utilize several "weighted" users' and system's parameters. A level set method...During the past decade, increasing attention has been given to the development of meshless methods using radial basis functions for the numerical solution of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). A level set method is a promising design tool for tracking, modelling and simulating the motion of free boundaries in fluid mechanics, combustion, computer animation and image processing. In the conventional level set methods, the level set equation is solved to evolve the interface using a capturing Eulerian approach. The solving procedure requires an appropriate choice of the upwind schemes, reinitialization, etc. Our goal is to include Multiquadric Radial Basis Functions (MQ RBFs) into the level set method to construct a more efficient approach and stabilize the solution process with the adaptive greedy algorithm. This paper presents an alternative approach to the conventional level set methods for solving moving-boundary problems. The solution was compared to the solution calculated by the exact explicit lime integration scheme. The examples show that MQ RBFs and adaptive greedy algorithm is a very promising calculation scheme.展开更多
Two problems of scattering of surface water waves involving a semi-infinite elastic plate and a pair of semi-infinite elastic plates,separated by a gap of finite width,floating horizontally on water of finite depth,ar...Two problems of scattering of surface water waves involving a semi-infinite elastic plate and a pair of semi-infinite elastic plates,separated by a gap of finite width,floating horizontally on water of finite depth,are investigated in the present work for a two-dimensional time-harmonic case.Within the frame of linear water wave theory,the solutions of the two boundary value problems under consideration have been represented in the forms of eigenfunction expansions.Approximate values of the reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained by solving an over-determined system of linear algebraic equations in each problem.In both the problems,the method of least squares as well as the singular value decomposition have been employed and tables of numerical values of the reflection and transmission coefficients are presented for specific choices of the parameters for modelling the elastic plates.Our main aim is to check the energy balance relation in each problem which plays a very important role in the present approach of solutions of mixed boundary value problems involving Laplace equations.The main advantage of the present approach of solutions is that the results for the values of reflection and transmission coefficients obtained by using both the methods are found to satisfy the energy-balance relations associated with the respective scattering problems under consideration.The absolute values of the reflection and transmission coefficients are presented graphically against different values of the wave numbers.展开更多

The optimal path planning for fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) in multi-target surveillance tasks(MTST) in the presence of wind is concerned.To take into account the minimal turning radius of UAVs,the Dubins ...The optimal path planning for fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) in multi-target surveillance tasks(MTST) in the presence of wind is concerned.To take into account the minimal turning radius of UAVs,the Dubins model is used to approximate the dynamics of UAVs.Based on the assumption,the path planning problem of UAVs in MTST can be formulated as a Dubins traveling salesman problem(DTSP).By considering its prohibitively high computational cost,the Dubins paths under terminal heading relaxation are introduced,which leads to significant reduction of the optimization scale and difficulty of the whole problem.Meanwhile,in view of the impact of wind on UAVs' paths,the notion of virtual target is proposed.The application of the idea successfully converts the Dubins path planning problem from an initial configuration to a target in wind into a problem of finding the minimal root of a transcendental equation.Then,the Dubins tour is derived by using differential evolution(DE) algorithm which employs random-key encoding technique to optimize the visiting sequence of waypoints.Finally,the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated through computational experiments.Numerical results exhibit that the proposed algorithm can produce high quality solutions to the problem.展开更多

However, due to different human perceptions, quantifying the effective capacity of wireless network subject to diverse Qo E is very difficult, which leads to many new challenges regarding Qo E guarantees in wireless networks. In this paper, we formulate the Qo E guarantees model for cellular wireless networks. Based on the model, we convert the effective capacity maximization problem into the equivalent convex optimization problem. Then, we develop the optimal Qo E-driven power allocation scheme, which can maximize the effective capacity. The obtained simulation results verified our proposed power allocation scheme, showing that the effective capacity can be significantly increased compared with that of traditional Qo E guarantees based schemes.展开更多

VAR compensation is defined as the management of reactive power to...This paper presents a potential solution of power flow constraints of BPS (Bangladesh power system) using VAR (volt ampere reactive) compensation. VAR compensation is defined as the management of reactive power to improve the performance ofac power systems. The concept of VAR compensation embraces a wide and diverse field of both system and customer problems, especially related with power quality issues, since most of power quality problems can be attenuated or solved with an adequate control of reactive power. VAR compensation in transmission systems also improves the stability of the ac system by increasing the maximum active power that can be transmitted. It also helps to maintain a substantially fiat voltage profile at all levels of power transmission. BPS is currently facing problems in few 132 grid points where the thermal limits of transmission are often exceeded. BPS is also foreseeing problem in transmitting additional power from the new generating units in Sylhet to Dhaka zone. As a result, the water mixed with salts has accelerated the damage of the reinforced concrete...Since 1990s, the use of deicing salts (i.e., chlorides) has dramatically increased in areas with heavy snowfall in Japan. As a result, the water mixed with salts has accelerated the damage of the reinforced concrete (hereafter, RC) structures. Recently conducted inspection results of RC bridges have reported that many of the damages or deteriorations are observed at the girder ends and abutments This is caused from the water leakage due to the aged expansion joints. In general, the cost for repairing the damaged RC structures is much higher than that for renewing the expansion joints. Therefore, to prevent these damages, we developed a new highly durable jointless system, named RC plug joint, for existing RC bridges with a bridge length less than 40 meters. The RC plug joint connects the abutment's backwall to the superstructure's deck using reinforcing steel bars and fiber reinforced concrete. The newly developed RC plug joint system can prevent water leakage and allow for a smooth ride of vehicles at the joint. This paper will explore and discuss the development of the RC plug joint, analysis of conducted investigations, and future installation methods.展开更多

文摘The optimal path planning for fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) in multi-target surveillance tasks(MTST) in the presence of wind is concerned.To take into account the minimal turning radius of UAVs,the Dubins model is used to approximate the dynamics of UAVs.Based on the assumption,the path planning problem of UAVs in MTST can be formulated as a Dubins traveling salesman problem(DTSP).By considering its prohibitively high computational cost,the Dubins paths under terminal heading relaxation are introduced,which leads to significant reduction of the optimization scale and difficulty of the whole problem.Meanwhile,in view of the impact of wind on UAVs' paths,the notion of virtual target is proposed.The application of the idea successfully converts the Dubins path planning problem from an initial configuration to a target in wind into a problem of finding the minimal root of a transcendental equation.Then,the Dubins tour is derived by using differential evolution(DE) algorithm which employs random-key encoding technique to optimize the visiting sequence of waypoints.Finally,the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated through computational experiments.Numerical results exhibit that the proposed algorithm can produce high quality solutions to the problem.

文摘Quality of experience(Qo E), which is very critical for the experience of users in wireless networks, has been extensively studied. However, due to different human perceptions, quantifying the effective capacity of wireless network subject to diverse Qo E is very difficult, which leads to many new challenges regarding Qo E guarantees in wireless networks. In this paper, we formulate the Qo E guarantees model for cellular wireless networks. Based on the model, we convert the effective capacity maximization problem into the equivalent convex optimization problem. Then, we develop the optimal Qo E-driven power allocation scheme, which can maximize the effective capacity. The obtained simulation results verified our proposed power allocation scheme, showing that the effective capacity can be significantly increased compared with that of traditional Qo E guarantees based schemes.
文摘This paper addresses the problem of joint optimization of subchannel selection and spectrum sensing time for multiband cognitive radio networks under the sensing capability constrains. In particular, we construct a multiband spectrum sensing framework, and derive the probabilities of detection and false alarm taking the different subchannel gain into account. Furthermore, we formulate the multi- band sensing as a two-parameter optimization prob- lem under the sensing capability constrains and guaranteeing the QoS of the secondary user. Moreover, we develop a semi-analytical optimization scheme to achieve the optimal solution.

文摘Starting from a new discrete spectral problem, the corresponding hierarchy of nonlinear lattice equations is proposed. It is shown that the lattice soliton hierarchy possesses the bi-Hamiltonian structures and infinitely many common commuting conserved functions. Further, infinite conservation laws of the hierarchy are presented.
文摘This paper presents a potential solution of power flow constraints of BPS (Bangladesh power system) using VAR (volt ampere reactive) compensation. VAR compensation is defined as the management of reactive power to improve the performance ofac power systems. The concept of VAR compensation embraces a wide and diverse field of both system and customer problems, especially related with power quality issues, since most of power quality problems can be attenuated or solved with an adequate control of reactive power. VAR compensation in transmission systems also improves the stability of the ac system by increasing the maximum active power that can be transmitted. It also helps to maintain a substantially fiat voltage profile at all levels of power transmission. BPS is currently facing problems in few 132 grid points where the thermal limits of transmission are often exceeded. BPS is also foreseeing problem in transmitting additional power from the new generating units in Sylhet to Dhaka zone. This paper investigates the potential solution to these transmission problems.
文摘Since 1990s, the use of deicing salts (i.e., chlorides) has dramatically increased in areas with heavy snowfall in Japan. As a result, the water mixed with salts has accelerated the damage of the reinforced concrete (hereafter, RC) structures. Recently conducted inspection results of RC bridges have reported that many of the damages or deteriorations are observed at the girder ends and abutments This is caused from the water leakage due to the aged expansion joints. In general, the cost for repairing the damaged RC structures is much higher than that for renewing the expansion joints. Therefore, to prevent these damages, we developed a new highly durable jointless system, named RC plug joint, for existing RC bridges with a bridge length less than 40 meters. The RC plug joint connects the abutment's backwall to the superstructure's deck using reinforcing steel bars and fiber reinforced concrete. The newly developed RC plug joint system can prevent water leakage and allow for a smooth ride of vehicles at the joint. This paper will explore and discuss the development of the RC plug joint, analysis of conducted investigations, and future installation methods.

文摘In this paper, based on the discrete zero curvature representation, isospectrai and nonisospectrai lattice hierarchies are proposed. By means of solving corresponding discrete spectral equations, we demonstrate the existence of infinitely many conservation laws for this two hierarchies and obtain the formulae of the corresponding conserved densities and associated fluxes.

文摘Energy saving is the nature of the optimal balance between the optimization of performance and energy consumption.Due to the node' s mobility of large-scale wireless sensor networks and the depletion of electrical energy causing the failure of communication path and network segmentation mong nodes,and because energy consumption of nodes is mainly its communication, to design the routing with energy saving, low latency, extensibility and improving the fault-tolerance is particularly important.Based on the large-scale wireless sensor networks,mainly through introducing the methods of nonlinear modeling,this paper analyzes the fine-grained mapping between the system of energy consumption and software, builds and optimizes the software model of energy consumption and energy consumption-balance model of service quality, and commits to form an effective energy saving to lay a foundation for construction of low energy consumption of wireless sensor network. Research achievement has significant theoretical and application value in public safety, disaster prevention, ecological and environmental protection, urban management, smart home, intelligent transportation, medical and health care, industrial monitoring, green agriculture and other fields.
