The results showed that these two kinds of green manure crops were decomposed rapidly in the first 14 days, and then decomposed slowly. After 80 days of incubation, the decomposition rates of February orchid and Hair Vetch were 66.92% and 63.12%, respectively. Different nutrients had different release rates from the green manures. Nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) were released rapidly in the initial 7 days, and phosphorus (P) was released steadily in the 80 days of incubation. In the two kinds of green manures, the release rates all ranked as K's〉N's〉P's. The release rates of nutrients, especially P (P〈0.05), of February orchid were higher than those of Hair Vetch.展开更多

In order to improve oil adsorption capacity, corn cob was modified with lauric acid and ethanediol. The structure of raw and modified corn cob was investigated using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) method, thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and Ze Ta potential analyzer. The effects of p H level, adsorption time, adsorbent dosage, and initial oil concentration on oil absorbency of corn cob were studied. The results indicate that the modification significantly improved the lipophilicity of corn cob, making the modified corn cob with much better adsorption capacity on oil absorbency. Compared with raw corn cob, the maximum saturated adsorption capacity of modified corn cob is 16.52 mg/g at p H 5, and the increasing percentage is found to be 141%, which indicates that the modification causes a better adsorption capacity for oil removal. In addition, due to high oil adsorption capacity, affordable price and low secondary pollution, the modified corn cob could be considered promising alternative for the traditional oil adsorbent to clean up the emulsified oily water.展开更多

The aim of this study was to identify pleiotropic genes for both traits using a powerful bivariate genome-wide association study (GWAS). Two stud- ies, a discovery study and a replication study, were performed. In the discovery study, 909622 single nucleotide polymor- phisms (SNPs) were genotyped in 801 unrelated female Han Chinese subjects using the Affymetrix human genome-wide SNP array 6.0 platform. Then, a bivariate GWAS was performed to identify the SNPs that may be important for LBM and AAM. In the replication study, significant findings from the discovery study were validated in 1692 unrelated Caucasian female subjects One SNP rs3027009 that was bivafiately associated with left arm lean mass and AAM in the discovery samples (P=7.26x10-6) and in the replication samples (P=0.005) was identified. The SNP is located at the upstream of DARC (Duffy antigen receptor for chemokines) gene, suggesting that DARC may play an important role in regulating the metabolisms of both LBM and AAM.展开更多
