A new fragile watermark for image was proposed, which can be used in image verification applications. The paper first described the above two techniques, some of which will be used in the method. Then it described the embedding and authentication process and also analyzed the method to show how it can survive some attacks. The experimental results show that the proposed method doesn’t need the watermark or original image on authentication side. It provides more security against attack, and can localize where the tempering has occurred.展开更多

This technique is a combi-nation of the usage of polarimetric information of SAR images and the unsupervised classification method based on fuzzy set theory. Image quantization and image enhancement are used to preprocess the POLSAR data. Then the polarimetric information and Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm are used to classify the preprocessed images. The advantages of this algorithm are the automated classification, its high classifica-tion accuracy, fast convergence and high stability. The effectiveness of this algorithm is demonstrated by ex-periments using SIR-C/X-SAR (Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C/X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) data.展开更多

Both films of The Tempest show visual spectacle and technology images by CGI (Computer-Generated Cinematic Graphic Image) effect. The author argues the power struggle between Caliban and Prospero played by actress Helen Mirren, changes from post-colonial discourse in the male domain, to be more about the intellect contest between man and woman, and Taymor's adaptation is more focused on maternity than actor John Gielgud's on politics. Inter-textuality exists in Shakespeare in Love and Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and Twelfth Night. Unlike the tragedy in the films, Gnomeo and Juliet ends happily as we can expect from most musicals and fairy tales. The inter-textuality of literature and art, dramatic plays, historical events, and biographical sketches are delicately intertwined. Media represent Shakespeare applied by Jean Baudrillard's "simulacra" and Richard Schechner's "simulation" to present the liminal threshold between reality, role-playing, and theatricality. Shakespeare represented by media rise to visual narratives.展开更多

Discarding the traditional narrative mode of zero focalization, the narrator adopts a new fixed internal focalization, interwoven with the first person external point of view. By weakening the physical time and space, the narrator tells the story according to her psychological time and space, stressing the moment of importance, through which the writer highlights her subjective reality.展开更多

A critical pedagogy, whereby learners develop skills such as questioning, critiquing, and inquiring, is necessary in order for students to succeed in the 21st century. Such a pedagogy can be introduced to learners through a critical literacy framework, which encourages learners to recognize and analyze the social constructions present in texts. The literary environment of 21 st century students is saturated not only with print, but also with visual modes of communication. To teach students to think critically about language and texts, teachers must address both print and visual literacy. Using three classroom-tested picturebooks and activities, we show how the multimodal nature ofpicturebooks makes them an excellent resource to facilitate critical literacy. Using picturebooks in conjunction with a critical literacy framework will help develop the literacy skills necessary for students' active civic engagement in the 21st century.展开更多

The goal of this research was to create a series of original paintings by investigating Chinese traditional folk arts and handcrafts and integrating them physically or ichnographically on Ho's new body of paintings. Chinese traditional motifs including Chinese characters and Buddhist iconographies had already been important motifs in the contemporary Western paintings of Kong Ho for the past 10 years. This paper examined not only the artistic, cultural, and historical values but also the impacts of Chinese traditional folk arts and era~ on Ho's painting through a personal research travel and studies of a certain amount of Chinese paper-cuttings, folk prints, pottery, and handcrafts found in the famous Foshan Folk Art Studio and Foshan City Shiwan Ceramics Factory in Foshan, China. Furthermore, this paper investigated the symbolic meanings founded in Ho's spiritual paintings with strong Chinese heritage and how he reinterpreted those artifacts in a contemporary context.展开更多
