The total effective rate was 98.75% and cure rate 88.75%. There was no significant difference in therapeutic effect as compared with the conventional electroacupuncture method (P > 0.5), suggesting that shallow puncture by vibratings can also yield satisfactory therapeutic results.展开更多

It is closely related with disturbance of gastric motility. Our previous study has indicated that acupuncture has marked therapeutic effects on disturbance of gastric motility. In the present paper, analysis of time-frequency spectrum of EGG was used as indexes, and the clinical therapeutic effects of acupuncture treatment on functional dyspepsia were assessed objectively. The results are reported in the following.展开更多

To conduct a comparative study with clinical re- search literature published in Chinese core domes- tic journals, and to understand the prospects of cur- rent research trends of acupuncture clinical studies in Western countries and China. METHODS: Studies on clinical acupuncture treat- ment of low back pain in English SCI journals and four Chinese core domestic journals dated from 2002 to 2012 were sourced and summarized for this study. Objective analysis and evaluation on the differences in subject and scope of study on low back pain by foreign and Chinese researchers were conducted. RESULTS: Forty-seven English studies and 115 Chi- nese studies met our inclusion criteria. A keyword search revealed different kinds of low back pain re- lated conditions in English and Chinese studies. The English studies were broad in scope, while the Chinese studies were more focused. There were al-so differences in the understanding and definition of concepts and study orientation. CONCI.IJSION: More study should be undertaken to understand the contradictions that acupuncture faces in view of modern research to further ad- vance the field.展开更多

METHODS: This multicenter, randomized, con- trolled clinical trial on PER will be conducted at three institutions in China. The total study period will be 9 weeks. After a 1-week preparatory screen- ing period, 240 eligible participants with PER willbe randomized to receive acupuncture or pharma- cotherapy (1: 1) for 4 weeks with a 4-week fol- low-up. The primary outcome will be changes in 7-day average total nasal symptom score. Second- ary outcome measures include rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire score and total non-na- sal symptom score. RESULTS: The presence and seriousness of psycho- logical and emotional impairments should be con- sidered in therapeutic programs for allergic rhinitis. No clinical trial for treating allergic rhinitis via acu- puncture regulation of psychological and emotion- al activities has been reported. CONCLUSION: The findings of the trial will allow us to determine the effects of the mind (Shen)-regula- tion treatment approach. We will also be able to confirm if the effects of acupuncture are equivalent to those of the conventional drug cetirizine hydro- chloride.展开更多

Since 1990s, Chinese acupuncture workers began to absorb and use the methods and principles of EBM to guide acupuncture clinical research and practice. Now more and more domestic acupuncture clinicians use and follow the methods and principles of EBM. On the systemic review of acupuncture-associated articles in Cochrane library, previously effective acupuncture therapy lacks adequate evidences, which may be related to the low quality of randomized controlled trials(RCTs). In the future, only developing specialized team of acupuncture clinical research and clinical research center can radically elevate the levels of acupuncture clinical research and evaluation. Meanwhile, developing China's evidence-based acupuncture should base itself on the characteristics of acupuncture, such as emphasis on original research in ancient books, high-quality single RCTs and systemic review of non-randomized researches.展开更多

The quality of future studies in TCM will largely depend on a variety of factors, such as (1) the classical Chinese diagnosis as an inclusion criterion, (2) objectively measurable parameters as the main criterion of outcome, (3) double blinding of controls. A common understanding of the diagnosis and functional criteria of TCM is therefore necessary, as well as a common understanding of the functional terminology and rationally accessible theory. This underlines the necessity of classical Chinese medical theory for modem scientific research, its proper definition and application in studies.展开更多

The therapeutic effects may be influenced by a variety of factors.Stimulation quantity is one of the factors for achieving good therapeutic effects in acupuncture practice. With the development of science and technology, besides the influence of manual manipulations, the parameters adopted for electroacupuncture have become the benchmark of stimulation quantity. This study, by referring to the related literatures, is designed to explore the influence of manual manipulations and electrical parameters on therapeutic effects of acupuncture. The results from the present study show that different manualmanipulations and electrical parameters may exert different therapeutic effects of acupuncture, which are closely related to the characteristics of diseases.Different manual manipulations and electrical parameters should be adopted according to syndrome differentiation of TCM. This is very important in acupuncture treatment.展开更多
