According to syndrome differentiation, hiccup is divided into 5 types including stomach-cold, reversed rising of the stomach-fire, adverse flow of qi and phlegm obstruction, deficiency of both spleen-yang and kidney-yang and insufficiency of the stomach-yin. Acupoints used are Zusanli (ST 36), Neiguan (PC 6), Zhongfu (LU 1), etc. and pressed with fingers repeatedly. Then, massage manipulations are performed by tapping the patient's back repeatedly for 5 - 6 times; tapping Jiuwei (CV 15) area, and pressing the tender-point beside the left side of T3_4 spinous processes and Geshu (BL 17). After treatment, of the 32 cases of hiccup, 23 cases are cured, 6 have remarkable improvement and 3 are failed in treatment, with the effective rate being 90.6% .展开更多

Methods: Seventy eligible patients with post-stroke constipation were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 35 cases in each group. Both groups were intervened by conventional treatment and care in Western medicine, while the treatment group was also by Tui-pushing the Large Intestine Meridian and point sticking at Tianshu(ST 25). The treatment lasted for 14 d. Therapeutic efficacy was evaluated by the first defecation time, constipation incidence and Chinese stroke scale(CSS) score. Results: After treatment, the first defecation time was(1.86 ± 0.74) d in the treatment group, shorter than(2.77 ± 0.83) d in the control group; constipation incidence was 14.3% in the treatment group, significantly lower than 37.1% in the control group, and the between-group differences in the two items were statistically significant(both P〈0.05). CSS score in both groups dropped significantly after treatment(both P〈0.05); the improvement in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, and the inter-group difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05). Conclusion: Tui-pushing the Large Intestine Meridian plus point sticking at Tianshu(ST 25) can effectively prevent post-stroke constipation, and can also promote the rehabilitation of nerve functions.展开更多

Methods:Forty hypertension patients were randomized into an observation group and a medication group, 20 cases in each group. The observation group was intervened by tuina manipulations of kidney-tonifying blood-circulating and collaterals- unblocking in addition to regular medication, while the medication group was by the same medication. The 24-hour blood pressure monitoring was performed before intervention and after 3-month intervention. The blood pressure and its variability were observed and compared. Results:There were no significant differences in comparing the blood pressure and blood pressure variability between the two groups before intervention (P〉0.05); after 3-month intervention, the blood pressure and its variability were significantly improved in both groups (P〈0.05); the improvements in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion:Tuina manipulations of kidney-tonifying blood-circulating and collaterals-unblocking plus medication can produce a better effect than regular medication in promoting blood pressure and its variability, and this method is worth applying in clinic as it’s easy-to-operate and has no adverse effect.展开更多

Methods:A total of 68 elderly patients with hypertension were enrolled, and their ages were all over 60 years old. They were divided into a control group and a treatment group by simple random method, with 34 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated by routine psychological health guidance and sleep knowledge education, while patients in the treatment group were treated by acupoint massage on the base of the interventions given to the control group. Both of their treatment courses were 3 months. Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) scores and mini-mental state examination (MMSE) scores before and after treatment were recorded and compared. Results:Two groups’ PSQI scores before treatment had no significant difference (P〉0.05). After 3 months of treatment, their PSQI scores were statistically different (P〈0.05). There was also no between-group statistical difference in MMSE score before treatment (P〉0.05), but there was a significant difference after treatment (P〈0.05). Conclusion:Acupoint massage for elderly patients with primary hypertension can improve their sleep quality and enhance their cognitive function, thus it is worthy of being applied in clinical nursing work.展开更多

Methods: Nine Chinese and English databases were searched from the inception to May 2017 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) studying tuina therapy for insomnia. The enrolled articles were all RCTs with tuina as the monotherapy or major therapy in the experiment group, with clear diagnostic criteria for primary insomnia well recognized worldwide or in China, and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) as one of the outcome measures. Two researchers evaluated the risk of bias and quality of the enrolled studies by following Cochrane Handbook version 5.1.0. The meta-analysis was performed by RevMan version 5.3. Results: Eleven studies were included with a total of I 076 participants. The Western medication adopted in the control groups were benzodiazepine receptor agonists. The studies were all assessed as high risk of bias for blinding since blinding method was unable to be performed due to the specificity of tuina therapy; no study reported the support of fund or potential interest conflict, so they were all rated unclear for selective reporting. The meta-analysis showed that compared with other traditional Chinese medicine therapies, tuina worked more effectively in reducing the PSQI score (MD=-4.11〈O, 95% confidence interval (CI) -6.01 to -2.22, P〈0.O001); compared with oral administration of Western medication, tuina showed more significant efficacy in reducing the PSQI score (MD=-3.42〈0, 95%CI -5.19 to -1.66, P〈0.O001). Subgroup analysis showed that head tuina alone showed no significant difference compared with oral administration of Western medication regarding the change of PSQI score (MD=-4.19〈O, 95%CI -8.87 to 0.50, P〉0.05); a combination of head and back tuina could more effectively reduce the PSOJ score compared with oral administration of Western medication (MD=-2.08〈O, 95%CI -3.09 to -1.06, P〈0.O001). Conclusion: Tuina can produce more significant efficacy in treating primary insomnia compared with other traditional Chinese medicine therapies and oral administration of Western medication, especially the combination of head and back tuina.展开更多

文摘Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Tuina(Chinese therapeutic massage)plus umbilical therapy for senile functional constipation due to Qi deficiency of lung and spleen. Methods A total of 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group by the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were given lactulose oral solution, while the patients in the observation group were treated with Tuina and umbilical therapy. After two weeks of treatment, the scores of the Wexner continence grading scale(WCGS)and patient assessment of constipation-quality of life questionnaire(PAC-QOL)were observed. The effective rates in the two groups were compared. Results After two weeks of treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was 90.0%,while that in the control group was 76.7%,presenting a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the WCGS and PAC-QOL scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After two weeks of treatment, the WCGS and PAC-QOL scores of both groups decreased significantly compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the two scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The efficacy of Tuina plus umbilical therapy for senile functional constipation is confirmed. This method can improve patients’quality of life. Its efficacy is better than that of taking lactulose oral solution.
