Based on the conventional X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and in situ high-temperature XRD quantitative analysis,in addition to scanning electron microscopy measurement, the phase identification was achieved. Combining the deduction from the component phase diagrams of the binary systems using the phase equilibrium theorem, the primary isothermal phase diagram was plotted over the composition area Cu2O-mullite-SiO2. In this area, the approximate composition areas of two two-phase regions and one three-phase region,(L2+Cr),(L2+M),and (L1+L2+Tr),were determined. Moreover, the precise composition areas of both of the three-phase regions (L2+Cr+M) and (L2+M+A) were determined according to the results of conventional and in situ high-temperature XRD quantitative analysis by Rietveld method.展开更多

Compared to the catalysts prepared by the conventional method, the new catalysts prepared via the new method exhibit much higher BET surface area and pore size, much smaller crystallite size and higher catalytic activity and selectivity in CO 2 hydrogenation to methanol. It is also found that the molar ratio of Cu + to Cu 0 on the surface of the catalyst obtained by coprecipitation-reduction is much higher than that on the reduced catalyst obtained by the conventional method, which could be crucial for its high activity and selectivity for catalytic hydrogenation of CO 2 to methanol.展开更多

Effects of sliding speed and pressure on the frictional characteristics of the composites and copper against brass are investigated and compared. The changes in morphology of the sliding surface and subsurface are examined with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDS). The results show that the wear resistance of the Al2O3/Cu composites is superior to that of copper under the same conditions, Under a given electrical current, the wear rate of Al2O3/Cu composites decreases as the Al2O3-content increases, However, the wear rates of the Al2O3/Cu composites and copper increase as the sliding speed and pressure increase under dry sliding condition. The main wear mechanisms for Al2O3/Cu composites are of abrasion and adhesion; for copper, it is adhesion, although wear by oxidation and electrical erosion can also be observed as the speed and pressure rise.展开更多
