In this paper a representation theorem of harmonic functions on manifolds is set up. As an application, a characterization of BMO in terms of Carleson measures is obtained.

A generalization of the usual Green function to a kind of nonlinear elliptic equation of divergence form is discussed. The regularity and comparison principle of Green function in the sense of distribution are shown.
It is proved that the image of a BMO function under the generalized Littlewood-Paley functions is either equal to infinity almost everywhere or in BMO.
