Methods: After isolating the mesentery, the “to...Objective: Thorough, prompt enteral decompression technique without contamination was de- veloped to ensure safety for emergent colon resection and primary anastomosis. Methods: After isolating the mesentery, the “to be resected colon segment” was cut at its lower end, then the proximal cut end was put into a plastic bag which was adhered to one side of the operating table. After releasing the clamp, the content could ?ow into this bag. The operator could squeeze the bowel with two hands by turns, from proximal to farness, and from small bowel to large bowel, until the entire bowel content was fully discharged. Then the upper end of this “to be resected colon segment” was cut, and was removed together with the plastic bag. Results: 31 cases of left colon cancer with acute obstruction were decompressed with this technique. They all recovered smoothly, without anastomosis ?stula. Another 6 cases of hepatic seg- mentectomy with incidental colonectomy were decompressed with this technique and had the same results. This technique was also used in di?erent kinds of acute small intestinal obstruction and gained satisfactory results. Conclusion: This technique could be considered as the preferable choice for intraoperative enteral decompression.展开更多

In this unified model,we introduce the electron-phonon coupling time(tie) and laser pulse width(tp).For long pulses,it can substitute for the traditional thermal conduction model;while for ultrashort pulses,it can sub...In this unified model,we introduce the electron-phonon coupling time(tie) and laser pulse width(tp).For long pulses,it can substitute for the traditional thermal conduction model;while for ultrashort pulses,it can substitute for the standard two-temperature model.As an example of the gold target,we get the dependence of the electron and ion temperature evolvement on the time and position by solving the thermal conduction equation using the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method.It is in good agreement with experimental data.We obtain the critical temperature of the onset of ablation using the Saha equation and then obtain the theoretical value of the laser ablation threshold when the laser pulse width ranges from nano-second to femtosecond timescale,which consists well with the experimental data.展开更多

Dynamic characteristics of a beam with discontinuously distributed piezoelectric sensors and actuators were presented. Liposarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of mesodermal origin, which among sarcomas, 10% to 20% are located in the retroperitoneum. The case presented shows a 50-year-old male patient who initially presented weight loss a...Liposarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of mesodermal origin, which among sarcomas, 10% to 20% are located in the retroperitoneum. The case presented shows a 50-year-old male patient who initially presented weight loss and abdominal pain in the left iliac fossa. A tumor mass of hardened consistency was palpated in virtually all the abdomen. An abdominal ultrasound and a computed tomography of the abdomen were performed and confirmed the tumor mass. An exploratory laparotomy was performed, with removal of bulky abdominal mass of greasy consistency. A histopathological study of the piece reported myxoid liposarcoma. Clinical and prognostic features, as well as oncologic outcomes, are well known in this group of patients. The patient has been in the outpatient clinic for 7 years without tumor recurrence. Computed tomography is the fundamental study for the diagnosis of imaging. The treatment of choice consists in an aggressive approach aiming the complete resection, which is a major predictor of local and distant recurrence and survival.展开更多
Some compounds of group III-V semiconductor materials exhibit very good piezoelectric,mechanical,and thermal properties and their use in surface acoustic wave(SAW) devices operating specially at GHz frequencies.These ...Some compounds of group III-V semiconductor materials exhibit very good piezoelectric,mechanical,and thermal properties and their use in surface acoustic wave(SAW) devices operating specially at GHz frequencies.These materials have been appreciated for a long time due to their high acoustic velocities,which are important parameters for active microelectromechanical systems(MEMS) devices.For this object,first-principles calculations of the anisotropy and the hydrostatic pressure effect on the mechanical,piezoelectric and some thermal properties of the(B3) boron phosphide are presented,using the density functional perturbation theory(DFPT).The independent elastic and compliance constants,the Reuss modulus,Voigt modulus,and the shear modulus,the Kleinman parameter,the Cauchy and Born coefficients,the elastic modulus,and the Poisson ratio for directions within the important crystallographic planes of this compound under pressure are obtained.The direct and converse piezoelectric coefficients,the longitudinal,transverse,and average sound velocity,the Debye temperature,and the Debye frequency of(B3) boron phosphide under pressure are also presented and compared with available experimental and theoretical data of the literature.展开更多
