Based on statistical damage mechanics,the constitutive model of a rock underthree-dimensional stress was established by the law that the statistical strength of rockmicro-element obeys Weibull distribution.The acousti...Based on statistical damage mechanics,the constitutive model of a rock underthree-dimensional stress was established by the law that the statistical strength of rockmicro-element obeys Weibull distribution.The acoustic emission (AE) evolution model ofrock failure was put forward according to the view that rock damage and AE were consistent.Moreover,in the failure process of rock under three-dimensional stress,the change inrelationship between stress condition parameter and the characteristic parameters of AE,such as the event number and its change rate,were studied.Also,the rock AE characteristicunder uniaxial compression was analyzed in theory and verified with examples.Theresults indicate that the cumulative event number and change rate of AE in rock failure aredetermined by stress state parameter F.Along with the gradual increase of F,first the cumulativeevent number increases gradually,then rapidly,and then slowly after the stresspeak.The form of change rate of an event by increasing F is consistent with the distributionform of rock micro-element strength.The model explained the phenomenon that a relativelyquiet period of AE appears before rock rupture that is observed by many researchersin experiments.Verification examples indicate that the AE evolution model is consistentwith the test results,so the model is reasonable and correct.展开更多
With the aim of reducing the cost of developing internal combustion engines,while at the same time investigating different geometries,layouts and fuels,3D-CFD-CHT simulations represent an indispensable part for the de...With the aim of reducing the cost of developing internal combustion engines,while at the same time investigating different geometries,layouts and fuels,3D-CFD-CHT simulations represent an indispensable part for the development of new technologies.These tools are increasingly used by manufacturers,as a screening process before building the first prototype.This paper presents an innovative methodology for virtual engine development.The 3D-CFD tool QuickSim,developed at FKFS,allows both a significant reduction in computation time and an extension of the simulated domain for complete engine systems.This is possible thanks to a combination of coarse meshes and self-developed internal combustion engine models,which simultaneously ensure high predictability.The present work demonstrates the capabilities of this innovative methodology for the design and optimization of different engines and fuels with the goal of achieving the highest possible combustion efficiencies and pollutant reductions.The analysis focuses on the influence of different fuels such as hydrogen,methanol,synthetic gasolines and methane on different engine geometries,in combination with suitable injection and ignition systems,including passive and active pre-chambers.Lean operations as well as knock reduction are discussed,particularly for methane and hydrogen injection.Finally,it is shown how depending on the chosen fuel,an appropriate ad-hoc engine layout can be designed to increase the indicated efficiency of the respective engines.展开更多

Magnet s...In this study, we investigated the torque characteristics of large low-speed direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generators with stator radial ventilating air ducts for offshore wind power applications. Magnet shape optimization was used first to improve the torque characteristics using two-dimensional finite element analysis(FEA) in a permanent magnet synchronous generator with a common stator. The rotor step skewing technique was then employed to suppress the impacts of mechanical tolerances and defects, which further improved the torque quality of the machine. Comprehensive three-dimensional FEA was used to evaluate accurately the overall effects of stator radial ventilating air ducts and rotor step skewing on torque features. The influences of the radial ventilating ducts in the stator on torque characteristics, such as torque pulsation and average torque in the machine with and without rotor step skewing techniques, were comprehensively investigated using three-dimensional FEA. The results showed that stator radial ventilating air ducts could not only reduce the average torque but also increase the torque ripple in the machine. Furthermore, the torque ripple of the machine under certain load conditions may even be increased by rotor step skewing despite a reduction in cogging torque.展开更多
