An isothermal compressive experiment using Gleeble 1500 thermal simulator was studied to acquire flow stress at different deformation temperatures, strains and strain rates. The artificial neural networks with the error back propagation(BP) algorithm was used to establish constitutive model of 2519 aluminum alloy based on the experiment data. The model results show that the systematical error is small(δ=3.3%) when the value of objective function is 0.2, the number of nodes in the hidden layer is 5 and the learning rate is 0.1. Flow stresses of the material under various thermodynamic conditions are predicted by the neural network model, and the predicted results correspond with the experimental results. A knowledge-based constitutive relation model is developed. 展开更多

To evaluate the quality and accuracy of websites written to the public on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and assess their readability level.METHODSGoogle™, Bing™, and Yahoo™... To evaluate the quality and accuracy of websites written to the public on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and assess their readability level.METHODSGoogle™, Bing™, and Yahoo™ search engines were searched independently by three researchers in December 2014. Only English-language websites were selected on the basis of predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Researchers independently evaluated the quality of each website by using the DISCERN and the HONcode instruments. The readability levels were calculated using two formulas; the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level Index, and the Coleman-Liau Readability Index. The agreement between the evaluators was calculated using Cohen kappa coefficient.RESULTSEighty-four websites were finally identified. Scores varied from a minimum DISCERN score of 18 to a maximum of 68 [mean ± SD, 42.2 ± 10.7; median = 41.5, interquartile range, interquartile range (IQR) = 15.8] and a minimum score of HONcode of 0.14 and a maximum of 0.95 (mean ± SD, 0.16 ± 0.19; median = 0.45, IQR = 0.29). Most of these websites were reviewed in 2014 and 2015 (n = 51). The creators of these websites were: universities and research centers (n = 25, 30%), foundations and associations (n = 15, 18%), commercial and pharmaceutical companies (n = 25, 30%), charities and volunteer work (n = 9, 10%), and non-university educational bodies (n = 10, 12%). The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level readability score (mean ± SD) was 11.9 ± 2.4 and the Coleman-Liau Readability Index score was 12.6 ± 1.5. Significant correlation was found between the two readability scores (R<sup>2</sup> = 0.509, P = 0.001). The overall agreement between evaluators measured by Cohen kappa coefficient was in the range of 0.804-0.876; rated as 'Good'.CONCLUSIONThe DISCERN and the HONcode scores of websites varied and the readability levels of most websites were above the public readability level. The study highlights the areas that need further improvement and development in patient education online materials about IBD. 展开更多

Aimed at the lack of self-tuning PID parameters in conventional PID controllers, the structure and learning algorithm of an adaptive PID controller based on reinforcement learning were proposed. Actor-Critic learning was used to tune PID parameters in an adaptive way by taking advantage of the model-free and on-line learning properties of reinforcement learning effectively. In order to reduce the demand of storage space and to improve the learning efficiency, a single RBF neural network was used to approximate the policy function of Actor and the value function of Critic simultaneously. The inputs of RBF network are the system error, as well as the first and the second-order differences of error. The Actor can realize the mapping from the system state to PID parameters, while the Critic evaluates the outputs of the Actor and produces TD error. Based on TD error performance index and gradient descent method, the updating rules of RBF kernel function and network weights were given. Simulation results show that the proposed controller is efficient for complex nonlinear systems and it is perfectly adaptable and strongly robust, which is better than that of a conventional PID controller. 展开更多

In turn, the kinematics of a robot manipulator can be described by its forward and reverse models. The inverse kinematic model, which provides the status of the joints according to the desired position for the tool of the robot, is typically taught and described in robotics classes through an algebraic way. However, the algebraic representation of this model is often difficult to obtain. Thus, although it is unquestionable the need for the accurate determination of the inverse kinematic model of a robot, the use of ANNs (artificial neural networks) in the design stage can be very attractive, because it allows us to predict the behavior of the robot before the formal development of its model. In this way, this paper presents a relatively quick way to simulate the inverse kinematic model of a robot, thereby allowing the student to have an overview of the model, coming to identify points that should be corrected, or that can be optimized in the structure of a robot. 展开更多

In order to describe joint activities between multiple operators and multiple robots, a 4-level discrete-event model is proposed in this paper based on the controlled condition/event Petri nets (CCEP). On the first or mission level, the task splitting of the system is defined; on the second or multi-operator level, a precedence graph is introduced for every operator to plan his or her robotic actions; on the third or coordination level, the above precedence graphs are translated and integrated into the corresponding CCEPs in terms of specific rules; and on the last or multi-robot level, operators can select their control range by setting the corresponding control marks of the obtained CCEPs. As a consequence, a clear mechanism of operator-robot collaboration is obtained to conduct the development of the system. 展开更多

An effective approach for describing complicated water quality processes is very important for river water quality management. We built two artificial neural network(ANN) models,a feed-forward back-propagation(BP) model and a radial basis function(RBF) model,to simulate the water quality of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers in reaches crossing the city of Chongqing,P. R. China. Our models used the historical monitoring data of biological oxygen demand,dissolved oxygen,ammonia,oil and volatile phenolic compounds. Comparison with the one-dimensional traditional water quality model suggest that both BP and RBF models are superior; their higher accuracy and better goodness-of-fit indicate that the ANN calculation of water quality agrees better with measurement. It is demonstrated that ANN modeling can be a tool for estimating the water quality of the Yangtze River. Of the two ANN models,the RBF model calculates with a smaller mean error,but a larger root mean square error. More effort to identify out the causes of these differences would help optimize the structures of neural network water-quality models. 展开更多

Objective:This study explored the approaches for community-based flood disaster management for older adults in Southern Thailand.It sought to understand community culture for supporting older adults and promoting community strength in case of flood disaster.Method:This was a qualitative content analysis study using data from observation,in-depth interviews,secondary data,and focus group discussion.One hundred and twenty-seven people in total were selected specifically for the study,including Local Administration Organization(LAO),community leaders,public sector officers,civil groups,and older adult groups and family caregivers.Results:The results of this study were two main themes,focusing on 1)approaches to community-based flood disaster management for older adults as follows:eight approaches in the phase of prevention and preparedness in flood disaster management for older adults,eight approaches in the phase of response in flood disaster management for older adults,and six approaches in the phase of recovery and rehabilitation in flood disaster management for older adults;and 2)factors contributing to success in flood disaster management for older adults has four factors,including the human factor,the work factor,the data factor,and the resource factor.Conclusion:The findings showed significant roles in improving the potential and strength in communitybased flood disaster management for older adults and providing suggestions for community nurses and health practice personnel involving in flood disaster management to mitigate the potential influence on older adults in the community. 展开更多

Members of these communities often use account names instead of real names. When they meet in the real world, they will find it useful to have a tool that enables them to associate the faces in fiont of them with the account names they know. This paper proposes a method that enables a person to identify the account name of the person ("target") in front of him/her using a smartphone. The attendees to a meeting exchange their identifiers (i.e., the account name) and GPS information using smartphones. When the user points his/her smartphone towards a target, the target's identifier is displayed near the target's head on the camera screen using AR (augmented reality). The position where the identifier is displayed is calculated from the differences in longitude and latitude between the user and the target and the azimuth direction of the target from the user. The target is identified based on this information, the face detection coordinates, and the distance between the two. The proposed method has been implemented using Android terminals, and identification accuracy has been examined through experiments. 展开更多

Cultural difference or even conflict is one of the inevitable issues in terms of migration. The Chinese (Han) culture which belongs to the continental civilization and the Australian (Western) culture which belongs to the maritime one are both mighty and cannot be conquered or assimilated by each other. This means that the Chinese immigrants to Australia, compared to the ones from a less mighty culture, are more sensitive and resistant to the impact of an alien culture, which leads to a conscious or unconscious sense of security of the mother culture. Cultural security, not unidirectional, also refers to the worry by the locals of the impact brought by the immigrants.
