The precursor was prepared by adding ammonia to the ferric sulfate solution which was obtained by leaching pyrite cinders with sulfuric acid. Structure and morphology of the synthesized products were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and selected area electron diffraction. The results reveal that the reaction temperature has significant effects on the structure, size and shape of the synthesized hematite particles. Typical hexagonal hematite platelets, about 0.4-0.6 μm in diameter and 0.1 μm in thickness, were prepared at 230 ℃ for 0.5 h. Al^3+, contained in the sulfuric acid leaching solution as an impurity, plays an extremely important role in the formation of hexagonal hematite. In addition, a possible mechanism about the formation of hexagonal hematite platelets was proposed.展开更多

Proper Pichia postoris cells (PPCs) dosage, ascorbic acid (AA), Pd(N03)2 and CrAC concentrations were essential for the growth of the PdNFs. The size of the as- synthesized PdNFs could be tuned by adjusting the amount of Pal(N03)2 solution and dosage of PPCs used. Characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to verify the nature of the PdNFs. Finally the PdNF/PPC nanocomposites were immobilized onto TiO2 supports to obtain bio-PdNF/Ti02 catalysts which showed excellent catalytic activity for CO oxidation, obtaining 100%; conversion at 100 ℃ and remaining stable over a period of 52 h of reaction time. @ 2015 The Chemical Industry and Engineering Sodety of China, and Chemical Industry Press. The residue was characterized by microscopic investigations, using X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD) techniques and the residue after segregation roasting was characterized by chemical phase analysis method. A series of experiments were conducted to examine the mass ratio of activated carbon (AC) to the residue, segregation roasting time and temperature, sulfuric acid concentration, liquid-to-solid ratio, leaching time, leaching temperature, addition amount of 30% H2O2, stirring speed (a constant) on the leaching efficiency of nickel. A maximum nickel leaching efficiency of 90.5% is achieved with the mass ratio of AC to the residue of 1:2.5, segregation roasting time of 2 h, segregation roasting temperature of 850 ℃, sulfuric acid concentration of 4.5 mol/L, liquid-to-solid ratio of 6:1, leaching time of 5 h, leaching temperature of 80 ℃, addition of 30% H202 of 0.6 mL for 1 g dry residue. Under these optimized conditions, the average leaching efficiency of nickel is 89.3%. The nickel extraction efficiency in the examined conditions is about 99.6%, and the nickel stripping efficiency in the examined conditions is about 99.2%.展开更多

Methods To measure the aqueous solubility and dissolution rates of daidzein in three diffe rent states (within solid dispersions, physical mixtures and as a pure drug) and investigate drug-polymer interactions in the solid state using X-ray powder d iffraction and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Results The negative values of the Gibbs free energy and enthalpy of transfer explaine d the spontaneous transfer of daidzein from phosphate buffer solution (PBS) to a solution of PVP in PBS. X-ray powder diffraction patterns showed that the drug was in the amorphous state (ratio of the drug ∶ PVP<1∶5) when dispers ed i n PVP K30. The infrared spectra indicated there exist interactions between the O H of daidzein and the C=O of PVP K30. Conclusionthe dispersion of daidzein in PVP K30 considerably enhances the solubility and dissolution rat e.展开更多

Although mesenteric ischemia occurs infrequently, the mortality rate is from 60% to 100%, depending on the source of obstruction. The successful outcome is dependent upon a high index of suspicion and prompt management. We briefly review the pathophysiology and presentation of the various ischemic entities and review the current state of the art in diagnosis and treatment. Despite advances in both diagnosis and treatment, prompt diagnosis and supportive care remain critical for successful outcome. New imaging techniques, endovascular therapy and emerging research may improve our approach to this deadly condition.展开更多

The dog had been misdiagnosed with faryngitis and hernia diaphragmatica before it was brought to our faculty clinic. Apparent abdominal respiration was inspected and supressed heart sounds, abnormal respiratory sounds and pleural rub were detected by auscultation of thorax. Radiographic examination and blood analysis were performed. Chest X-ray examination demonstrates both sided pleural effusion. Leukocytosis (WBC = 36.2 × 10^3μL) was detected on blood count. By thoracocentesis, 40 mL fluid was drained and cytologic examination was performed. Numerous pleomorphic, atypical, multinuclear or multinucleolar mesothelial cells were observed and cytologic findings were pretty compatible with mesothelioma. The dog died before medication and the owner of the dog didn't give the confirmation for necropsy. In our clinical case we did not confirm any contact of the dog with asbestos or larger amount of pesticides, which are described as etiological factors of mesothelioma. As mesothelioma is a very rare health condition for dogs, it might be lead up to misdiagnosis.展开更多

This may be explained by key factors, such as the great abundance of foraminifera shells. In this paper, by analyzing the SCS foraminifera structure and performing hydrate formation experiments in the foraminifera shells, the contribution of foraminifera to hydrate accumulation in the SCS was investigated from a microscopic point of view. Simulations of hydrate formation were carried out in both pure SCS foraminifera shells and the host sediments. Pore structures in typical foraminifera were studied by use of micro-focus X-ray computed tomography(CT) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Hydrate growth and occurrence characteristics in the foraminifera shells were observed in-situ. The results showed that the presence of foraminifera significantly enhanced the effective porosity of the SCS sediments. Moreover, while the hydrates grew preferentially in the chambers of the coarse-grained foraminifera by adhering to the inner walls of the foraminifera shells, no apparent hydrate accumulation was observed in the fine-grained or argillaceous matrix. These findings provide a basis for further studies on the accumulation mechanism of hydrates and physical properties of hydrate reservoir in the South China Sea.展开更多

Methods: Anterior decompression and PCB internal fixation were used in 22 patients with traumatic cervical intervertebral disc herniation. They were followed up from 3 to 16 months and analyzed by symptom and image data. Among them, 16 patients underwent fixation at one level and 6 patients at two levels. Results: This technique did not cause intraoperative complications. After surgery no screw backout or device failure was found. Based on the JOA grade, 20 patients improved clinically and 2 gently because of serious cervical stenosis. The general excellent rate was 90.9 %. Conclusions: PCB internal fixation is stable. Morbidity of donor and acceptor sites is less. No collars are needed after surgery.展开更多
