The tests on the shear property of geocell reinforced soils were carried out by using large-scale direct shear equipment with shear-box-dimensions of 500 mm×500 mm×400 mm (length×width×height). Three types of specimens, silty gravel soil, geocell reinforced silty gravel soil and geocell reinforced cement stabilizing silty gravel soil were used to investigate the shear stress-displacement behavior, the shear strength and the strengthening mechanism of geocell reinforced soils. The comparisons of large-scale shear test with triaxial compression test for the same type of soil were conducted to evaluate the influences of testing method on the shear strength as well. The test results show that the unreinforced soil and geocell reinforced soil give similar nonlinear features on the behavior of shear stress and displacement. The geocell reinforced cement stabilizing soil has a quasi-elastic characteristic in the case of normal stress coming up to 1.0 GPa. The tests with the reinforcement of geocell result in an increase of 244% in cohesion, and the tests with the geocell and the cement stabilization result in an increase of 10 times in cohesion compared with the unreinforced soil. The friction angle does not change markedly. The geocell reinforcement develops a large amount of cohesion on the shear strength of soils. 展开更多

The required reinforcement force to prevent instability and the yield acceleration of reinforced slopes are computed under seismic loading by applying the kinematic approach of limit analysis in conjunction with the pseudo-dynamic method for a wide range of soil cohesion, friction angle, dilation angle and horizontal and vertical seismic coefficients. Each parameter threatening the stability of the slope enhances the magnitude of the required reinforcement force and vice versa. Moreover, the yield acceleration increases with the increase in soil shear strength parameters but decreases with the increase in the slope angle. The comparison of the present work with some of the available solutions in the literatures shows a reasonable agreement. 展开更多

Numerical Simulation of Mechanical Behaviors of Degradable Porous Bioceramics with Cracks

The influences of porosity, hole shape, angle of crack and other parameters on the ceramics are analyzed. The results show that with the increase of the angle between crack and horizontal direction, the stress intensity factor KⅠ decreases gradually, but stress intensity factor KⅡ increases at first and then it decreases. The value of KⅡ reaches maximum when the angle between crack and horizontal direction is 45°. KⅠ and KⅡ rise with the increase of porosity, and they are almost the same for the circular and hexagonal holes. For elliptical holes, KⅠ and KⅡ reach maximum when the long axis of ellipse is perpendicular to the loading direction and they reach minimum when the same axis is parallel to the loading direction. Moreover, with the increase of the angle between the long axis and loading direction, KⅠ and KⅡ increase gradually. 展开更多

This study presents the determination of the stress intensity factors (SIFs) at the edges of the cracks in an elastic strip weakened by N-collinear cracks. The problem of an orthotropic elastic strip is reduced to a system of Cauchy type singular integral equations. The system of singular integral equations is approached by a Quadrature technique. Under two different loading conditions, the results are obtained for the different cases of crack numbers. The resistance of the strip is examined by considering the orthotropic properties of the strip material. Finally, the crack interactions are clarified during the analysis. 展开更多
