Both discharges lasted more than 250 ms and were self-initiated from the towers in the form of upward positive leaders with a time difference of less than 4 ms. Abundant recoil leaders oc- curred transiently in the remnant channel sections during the development of the upward lightning. The number of recoil leaders over the lower tower was greater than over the higher tower. When the concurrent upward flashes occurred, the radar echo intensity in the area of the towers was no more than 45 dBZ and the towers were separately located beneath two echo centers with low altitudes of 2-3 kin.展开更多

Three measures are suggested and combined for overcoming process inherent nonlinearities:(1) variable scaling; (2) multi-model representation of process dynamics and (3) feedforward compensation. These strategies can offer the developed control systems with several distinct advantages: (1) capability of dealing with severe disturbances; (2) tight tuning of controller parameters and (3) high robustness with respect to variation of operating conditions. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.展开更多

The cool tower was twisted, collapsed directionally and broken well according to the design requirements. The expected results and purposes of blasting were obtained with no back blow, total blasted pile approximates to 4 - 5 m, no occurrence of flying stones and no damage to fixed buildings and equipment, the large-sized hyperbolic thin-wall reinforced concrete cool towers are twisted during blasting and it collapses well with good breaking. The test and measurement of blasting vibrating velocity was carried out during blasting and the measuring results are much less than critical values specified by Safety Regulations for Blasting. The study shows that gap form, gap size and gap angle are the key factors to cool tower collapse and will give beneficial references to related theoretical study and field application.展开更多

Experimental measurement of the local liquidphase velocity on an air-water simulator of 1.2 m in diameter byusing the hot film anemometer is briefly described. Two of theconventional fluid-dynamic constants are readjusted for the case ofliquid flow on a tray by fitting the experimental data.展开更多

In this paper, a system comprised of a series flow double effect water-Lithium bromide absorption chiller, a boiler and a cooling tower is studied based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics, and also exergy analysis is investigated. For this purpose, mass and energy conservation laws governing the system are written, and coefficient of performance of the system, exergy destruction (loss) of each component and exergy efficiency have been calculated.展开更多

However, taxonomic revision of this genus and resurrection of Saccharina Stackhouse based on genetic studies resulted in transfer of most Laminaria species to Saccharina. At the Russian Pacific coasts Saccharina now includes 10 species, while only three species for sure represent Laminaria: L. longipes Bory de Saint-Vincent, L. solidungula J. Agardh, L. yezoensis Miyabe, their placement within Laminaria is supported by genetic data. All examined Far Eastern species of Saccharina are noticed to possess haptera in the form of rhizoids, whereas members of Laminaria have disk-like holdfasts (L. solidungula, L. yezoensis), or creeping rhizomes (L. longipes). Three unstudied genetically endemics from the Sea of Okhotsk: L. appressirhiza Petrov et Vozzhinskaya, L. inclinatorhiza Petrov et Vozzhinskaya, L. multiplicata Petrov et Suchovejeva, are still left within Laminaria, but they have rhizoids, so most probably belong to Saccharina. This morphological criterion is inapplicable to Atlantic Laminaria since the type species L. digitata (Hudson) Lamouroux has rhizoids.展开更多
