Methods: A total of 200 patients with FAP were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 50 patients in each group. Group 1 was given oral Jiaweitiaoqi decoction; group 2 was given electroacupuncture at the lumbosacral acupoints; group 3 was given biofeedback training; and group 4 was given combined treatment. The numeric rating scale (NRS), Short Form-36 (SF-36) quality of life scale, static pressure of the anal canal, and maximum systolic pressure were observed in the 4 groups. Results: The observation indices of the 4 groups were all improved after treatment compared with those before treatment, and the fourth group showed the most obvious improvement. Regarding NRS scores, the static pressure of the anal canal, and maximum systolic pressure, group 4 had lower values than the other 3 groups (P 〈 0.05 for all). In the SF-36 quality of life score, group 4 showed a higher value than the other 3 groups (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion: Non-drug therapy including acupuncture and physical exercise can enhance the clinical efficacy of single Chinese medicine in the treatment of FAP .展开更多

However, it is very difficult to control the DOC using conventional controllers because of the poorly understood and constantly changing dynamics of the bioprocess. A generalized predictive controller (GPC) based on a nonlinear autoregressive integrated moving average exogenous (NARIMAX) model is presented to stabilize the DOC by manipulation of air flow rate. The NARIMAX model is built by an improved recursive least-squares support vector machine, which is trained by an in-place computation scheme and avoids the computation of the inverse of a large matrix and memory reallocation. The proposed nonlinear GPC algorithm requires little preliminary knowledge of the fermentation process, and directly obtains the nonlinear model in matrix form by using iterative multiple modeling instead of linearization at each sampling period. By application of an on-line bioreactor control, experimental results demonstrate the robustness, effectiveness and advantages of the new controller.展开更多

Methods: Ninety previously inactive overweight and obese (BMI 25-35 kg/m2) women (age 41.5 ± 7.6 years) were randomized to either a 6-week Nordic walking exercise program (EX, n = 45) or dietary counseling group (DI, n = 45). Body composition, serum glucose, insulin and lipids were measured. Serum low-molecular-weight metabolites and lipid constituents were analyzed by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Measurements were done at baseline and 7 days after the last training session. Results: Six weeks aerobic exercise program yielded reductions in serum free fatty acids (-34.7%, 95% confidence interval (CI), -50 to -18, p 〈 0.001), glucose (-9.6%, 95%CI, -15 to -4, p 〈 0.001) and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (-28.7%, 95%CI, -48 to -10, p = 0.005) without changes in body weight or fat mass. Diet counseling resulted in loss of body weight (1.5%, 95%CI, -2.3 to -0.7, p = 0.001) but no changes in free fatty acids, fasting glucose, or HOMA-IR were found. Conclusion: Our results indicate that small weight loss does not produce measurable health benefits, whereas short-term regular aerobic exercise can improve glucose and lipid metabolism even in the absence of weight loss in previously sedentary overweight and obese women.展开更多

The objective of this paper is to develop an online SVR model updating strategy to track the change in the process characteristics efficiently with affordable computational burden. This is achieved by adding a new sample that violates the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions of the existing SVR model and by deleting the old sample that has the maximum distance with respect to the newly added sample in feature space. The benefits offered by such an updating strategy are exploited to develop an adaptive model-based control scheme, where model updating and control task perform alternately. The effectiveness of the adaptive controller is demonstrated by simulation study on a continuous stirred tank reactor. The results reveal that the adaptive MPC scheme outperforms its non-adaptive counterpart for largemagnitude set point changes and variations in process parameters.展开更多

Short-term recovery of strength and activation are enhanced following a protocol combining strength training with neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). The purpose of the study was to determine if a dose response curve could be constructed for patients who received NMES as part of their treatment after TKA. NMES dosage was quantified as the electrically evoked knee extensor torque, expressed as a percentage of the subject's maximal voluntary contraction. Dose-response curves were generated, with the associations between NMES training intensity and quadriceps strength, voluntary activation, and lean muscle cross-sectional area examined using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficients. Significantly, linear correlations were observed between NMES training intensity and both quadriceps strength and voluntary activation, but not lean muscle cross-sectional area. These results suggest that maximizing the elicited training force during rehabilitation will enhance short-term recovery following TKA.展开更多

Many of table tennis experts agree on that the special coordination abilities for table tennis include each of: (1) the motor adaptation and adjustment ability; (2) the ability to differentiate; (3) reaction speed ability; (4) orientation ability; (5) balance ability; (6) coupling ability; and (7) the ability to sense the rhythm. The aim of this study is to design a training program to develop the special coordination abilities of table tennis and identify the impact of this program on the general skill ability for table tennis juniors. The researcher used the experimental method in two groups: One group is experimental group and another is the control group. The most important result of this study was the training program led to the improvement of the special coordination abilities of table tennis for the experimental group, which led to higher levels of the general skill ability in table tennis for the experimental group more than the control group.展开更多
