For example, they both recognize the role of language in constructing, and limiting, knowledge and reality. So, technology is approached as a simple efficiency increase whose source is unknown. In terms of established economics view, technology is like a "black box" that cannot be predicted. As the creator of the concept of"creative destruction", Joseph Schumpeter (1883-1950) caused significant changes in terms of the view of neoclassical economics about technology. On one hand, Schumpeter created a new point of view about the concept of"innovation" by using key concepts, such as "invention", "imitation", and "business cycles". Schumpeter's "creative destruction" concept carries out the role of a new map for the new institutional economics trend which accepts "technology" as an institution. On the other hand, if one is to understand why the ideology differs between neoclassical economics and new institutional economics, "transaction costs" should be analyzed. Since, transaction costs and creative destruction have a relationship between each other; Schumpeter and Coase's ideas are resembling each other. While doing this, this paper will try to discuss the question of how to accept the technology as "external" instead of "internal" limit neoclassical economics. In this process, it will primarily base the dimension on the concept of"technology" developed by Schumpeter. The second station is an inquiry between Schumpeter's and Coase's ideas about technology. Although new institutional economics (NIE) and neoclassical economics can be confused, they can be seperated from each other by the way they look at technology. Because, technology is accepted as an external theme by neoclassical economics, on the contrary, NIE acceptes technology as an internal fact. One of the most important reasons why technology is internal in terms of NIE can be evaluated by "transaction costs". As a result, the author will give effort to create a critical presentation in order to readdress the viewpoint of mainstream economics about "technology".展开更多

Historical and social transformations have seriously determined economic views, so, economic movements have been the indicators of economic wars of social classes. But no concept can describe sharp contrast in economics better than the two opponent concepts in economics: "orthodox" and "heterodox" economics. In this article, the reason why neo-classic economics, also called as orthodox economics, has a serious place in economic literature while the opponent's economic movements, named heterodox economics, do not defend only one "truth" and are not as important as orthodox economics will be examined. While doing this examination, Louis Althusser's "ideology" and Antonio Gramsci's "hegemony" will help us as these two concepts are quite instructive in understanding the irreplaceable significance of orthodox economics. As a result, by discussing alternative point of views about economics, positive emphasis of multivocality in economics literature will be revealed. On the other hand, every heterodox economics cannot criticize orthodox economics in the same way. In this study, institutional economics, which is accepted to be part of heterodox economics, will be discussed thoroughly. Institutional economics had a serious attitude against orthodox economics. In this study, generally the points in orthodox economics that institutional economics opposes will be emphasized, and although both economics approaches' ideological attitude will be attempted to be discussed generally, it will become easy to discuss the reason why heterodox economics developed an opposing ideology against the ideology of orthodox economics.展开更多

Wordsworth's poetic point "All good poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" is stated in his important work The Preface to Lyrical Ballads (1801), and this theoretical point is actually validated by many good poems of his own. This paper demonstrates the significance of the theoretical point by a close examination of The Preface and its textual meanings. And then it presents an understanding of the theory through a detailed analysis of his masterpiece Tintern Abbey (1798) and I Wandered lonely as a cloud (1804). It also demonstrates the importance and influence of his "poetic spontaneity" by comparing it with the Neo-classicalism in the 18th century and the Modernism in the 20th century.展开更多

Camillo Camilli (ca. 1560-1615--his exact birth date is unknown) was an Italian poet of the sixteenth-century. His family came from Monte San Savino, Siena, and records mention that he died on July 13, 1615, in Ragusa. While personal documentation on Camilli's life is scarce there are substantial sources about his literary career as a translator, compiler and poet. Camilli wrote extensively. There are the five canti on Erminia e Tancredi which were collated with Tarquo Tasso's (1544-1595) unfinished poems, and his commentaries for Ludovico Ariosto's Orlando Furioso in 1584 and for Tasso's Gerusalemme Liberata in 1585. Under the influence of Tasso's writings and his involvement in the commentary of Gerusalemme Liberata (1585), Camilli started formulating his concetto (conceit) of what an impresa is (badge, device or insignia). The focus of this essay is on Camilli's Imprese for the Academies. The whole collection of the lmprese consists of three volumes. The frontispiece to each volume depicts three different stage settings filled with classical ornamentation and bearing in the center of the lintel the impresa or insignia of Francesco Ziletti's printing company--a starfish surrounded by stars and bound by a ribbon. Camilli selected this image to announce through the imprese the significance of these famous men (uominifamosi) of the academy, granting them immortality and honor for their cultural and intellectual accomplishments.展开更多

In the long history of humanistic inheritance, from ancient times till the end of the 18th century, there was obvious decadence of essential humanistic points. As the historial period, humanism means revival of classical culture, and as a specific culturological phenomenon, it means erudite education created by Hellens and developed by Romans, who recovered "humanitas" as global education. Italy was the first who helped humanists to contemplate on classical culture; and in post-medieval age, Italian humanists achieved a supreme measure of humanism through their "humanistic studies." We will try to point out good achievements of humanism erudite education in European culture in later epochs. Humanism leads man to turn over to world--after medieval stricture--and it becomes self-conscious revolution, what we can see in Latin literature till the 18th century. Rise of individualism, development of libraries and humanistic academies give chance to latin tradition in European literature as universal discipline, including erudite education in international corpus (Ragusa also). High-intellectual and latinized elites with humanistic state of mind develop complex spiritual inteligency with science requests in later epochs too. We will try to explain in which degree humanism, with its synthetic point of view, influences on later corpus of European literary themes and how great its actuallity is nowdays.展开更多

Over 200 works were put on display at the Kimbell Art Museum that revealed the formative years in the French painter's works. The drawings and paintings confirmed Poussin as the leading classicist in 17th century French art and expanded our appreciation of the flexibility of the artist to illustrate mythological narratives. Previous positions on the artist such as Anthony Blunt's, who viewed the painter as a strict classicist without a major interest in color, are now reevaluated after the Fort Worth show. The influence of the Venetian school, especially the work of Titian, emerged stronger into Poussin's oeuvre. It was under the classicist umbrella that the romantic verse of Ovid and the sensual color of Titian became forged into the pictures of Roman mythology. The leading source of inspiration for this work would be Ovid's Metamorphoses where figures change into flowers made timeless by the painter's brush. Just as the poet varied the structure of his narrative presentation, so too did the painter expand his approach to depicting scenes of change in a variety of formats. A key work for Poussin in these stories of change would be the Kingdom of Flora (1631) where Ovidian tales are posed as an eternal spring where the goddess distributes the flowers of the collective narrative in an olive green chitin. This paper will contribute to the position of viewing Poussin's art under a wider vision of classicism where flexible narrative design and sensuous color fit the mission to make art noble and timeless.展开更多

Marx deepened supply theory, holding that production (supply) structure and product (income) distribution structure depended on the nature and structure of relations of production. This theory has been especially significant in guiding supply-side structural reform in China. The main reference value of American supply-side economics lies in some of its policy proposals for reforming and managing supply. Supply-side structural reform in China requires the development of a socialist supply theory with Chinese characteristics.展开更多

However, right from the beginning of May Fourth new literature, the poetics of "yanzhi" was not only not cast out of the aesthetic canon of modem Chinese literature but was, on the contrary, legitimately transmitted via Western discourse. Whether modem Chinese writers were expressing enlightenment ideas of saving the nation or voicing their personal feelings for their country and their people, they remained convinced that "zhi" was "feelings" writ large and "feelings" were a lesser form of "zhi." Specifically, the school stressing the idea that "literature expresses thought" advocated utilitarian literary creation and returned to the traditional Chinese poetics of "yanzhi" by replacing "feelings" with "zhi." Those stressing the idea that "literature expresses feelings" advocated writing with genuine emotion; they went on to express "zhi" via "feelings," thus returning to the traditional Chinese way of thought. Both the theory and practice of modem Chinese literature have a strange "Western" tint. Nevertheless, this literature's essential character of "reinterpreting the 'dao' (way)" and sophisticated "expression of thought" or "yanzhi" indicate its value identification withtraditional culture rather than the simple abandonment of "tradition" in pursuit of "the West."展开更多

Nevertheless, this literature's essential character of "reinterpreting the 'dao' (way)" and sophisticated "expression of thought" or "yanzhi" indicate its value identification withtraditional culture rather than the simple abandonment of "tradition" in pursuit of "the West."
