METHODS: A diarrhea model was established in Sprague Dawley rats via injection of 1 mL of 30 mg/kg LPS. A total of 40 rats were randomly divided into normal group, LPS group, LPS + Lianshu group, LPS + berberine group (n = 10 in each group). Their intestinal mucosal barrier and frequency of diarrhea were observed. Levels of glucose, serum Na^+, K^+, Cl and hematocrit, plasma nitrogen monoxide (NO), diamine oxidase (DAO), and D (-)-lactate were measured. The number of IgA+ plasma cells in small intestine was detected and SIgA levels in the intestinal fluid were measured. The antipyretic activity of Lianshu preparation in rats was evaluated using Brewer's yeast-induced pyrexia (10 mL/kg of 20% aqueous suspension). Acetaminophen (250 mg/kg, intragastric administration, bid) was comparison. Temperature used as a standard drug for was recorded 1 h before and 6 h after Brewer's yeast injection. Finally, small intestina transmission in mice treated with Lianshu was detected after intraperitoneal injection of methyl prostigmin (2 mg/kg). Atropine (10 g/kg) was used as a control. The ink content in intestine was determined and the total length of intestine was measured. RESULTS: The frequency of diarrhea was higher in LPS group than in LPS + Lianshu group and LPS + berberine group (36.70± 5.23 vs 28.50 ±4.06 and 32.70±9.30 respectively, P 〈 0.01), and lower in LP5 + Lianshu group than in LPS + berberine group (P = 0.03). The levels of Na+, glucose, Cl, K^+ were significantly lower in LPS + Lianshu group than in LPS + berberine group (140.35±3.19 mmol/L vs 131.99±4.86 mmol/L, 8.49 ±1.84 mmol/L vs 6.54±2.30 mmol/L, 106.29± 4.41 mmol/L vs 102.5±1.39 mmol/L, 5.08±0.66 mmol/L vs 4.32 ± 0.62 mmol/L respectively, P 〈 0.05). The level of hematocrit was lower in LPS + Lianshu group than in LPS + berberine group (0.50% ±0.07% vs 0.59%± 0.10% respectively, P 〈 0.05). The plasma levels of NO, DAO and D (-)-lactate were higher in LPS group than in normal group (79.74 ± 7.39μmol/L vs 24.94 ± 3.38μmol/L, 2.48 ±0.42μ/mL vs 0.82 ±0.33 p/mL, 5.63± 0.85μg/mL vs 2.01 ±0.32 μg/mL respectively, P 〈 0.01), and lower in LPS + Lianshu group than in LP5 + berberine group (48.59±4.70μmol/L vs 51.56 ±8.38 μmol/L, 1.43± 0.53μmol/mL vs 1.81 ±0.42 μmol/mL, 4.00± 0.54 μg/mL vs 4.88 ± 0.77 pg/mL respectively, P 〈 0.05). The morphology of the intestinal mucosa showed destroyed villi in LPS group and atrophied intestinal mucosa in other groups. The pathological intestinal mucosal changes were less in LPS + Lianshu group than in LPS group. The number of IgA+ plasma cells and amount of SIgA were higher in LPS + Lianshu group than in LPS group (1.16±0.19/μm^2 vs 1.09±0.28/μm^2, P = 0.026; 0.59 ±0.12 mg/L vs 0.15± 0.19 mg/L respectively, P = 0.000). Lianshu had counteractive effects on yeast-induced pyrexia and enterokinesia in rats. CONCLUSION: Lianshu preparation has therapeutic effects on LPS-induced diarrhea and enterokinesia in rats.展开更多

Saccharomgces cerevisae, Candida utilis, Bacillus subtilis and Geotrichum candidum were independently added into the experimental compound feed, while only saline was mixed with the control feed. The fermentation treatments were inoculated with 10% seed solution under the condition of 25 ~C and 70% water content, which lasted for 5 days to elucidate the optimal microbe strain for fermenting effect. Physicochemical indexes and sensorial characteristics were measured per day during the fermentation. The indexes included dry matter recovery (DMR), crude protein (CP), the percentage of amino acid nitrogen to total nitrogen (AA-N/tN), the percentage of ammonia nitrogen to total nitrogen (NH3-N/tN), and the ratio of fermentation strains and vibrios to the total microbes, color, smell and viscosity. The results showed that DMR, CP and AA-N/tN of the S. cerevisae group reached the highest level on day 3, but the ratio of fermentation strain was second to C. utilis group. In addition, its NH3-N/tN and the ratio of vibrios were maintained at low levels, and the sensory evaluation score including smell, color and viscosity was the highest in S. cerevisae group on day 3. Therefore, S. cerevisae could be the optimal strain for the feed fermentation for sea cucumber. This research developed a new production method of fermentation feed for sea cucumber.展开更多

The effects of shake speed, hydrophobicity of organic solvent, volume ratio of water phase to organic phase, pH value of aqueous phase and reaction temperature on the initial reaction rate, maximum yield and enantiomeric excess (ee) of the product were systematically explored. All the above-mentioned factors had significant influence on the reaction. n-Hexane was found to be the best organic solvent for the reaction. The optimum shake speed, volume ratio of water phase to organic phase, pH value and reaction temperature were 150 r.min-1, 1/2, 8 and 30 ℃ respectively, under which the maximum yield and enantiomeric excess of the product were as high as 96.8% and 95.7%, which are 15% and 16% higher than those of the corresponding reaction performed in aqueous phase. To our best knowledge, this is the most satisfactory result obtained.展开更多

Ant colony system algorithm was applied to optimize the kinetic model of this process. During a fixed period of fermentation time, a series of different temperature profiles of the mixture were constructed. An optimal one was chosen at last. Optimal temperature profile maximized the final ethanol production and minimized the byproducts concentration and spoilage risk. The satisfactory results obtained did not require much computation effort.展开更多

Compared with the traditional min-hops criterion, the new approach introduces a fuzzy knowledge combination theory to investigate several important factors that influence files transfer success rate and efficiency. Whereas the min-hops based protocols only ask the nearest candidate peer for desired files, the selection algorithm based on AOC comprehensively considers users' preferences and network requirements with flexible balancing rules. Furthermore, its advantage also expresses in the independence of specified resource discovering protocols, allowing for scalability. The simulation results show that when using the AOC based peer selection algorithm, system performance is much better than the rain-hops scheme, with files successful transfer rate improved more than 50% and transfer time re- duced at least 20%.展开更多

The present review summarizes the current state of work on phenolic acids in beer presented in the cited papers. In an overview, 10 hydroxybenzoic acids, three related aldehydes, two phenylacetic acids and eight hydroxycinnamic acids in beer are being reported. This review compares the phenolic acids content in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers from Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Austria and Poland, which had been examined by several authors. The quantification was achieved by HPLC with ultraviolet, diode array, coulometric array or fluorimetric detection. Ferulic acid is the main phenolic acid in all beers that had been studied, followed by p-coumaric, vanillic, caffeic, p-OH-benzoic and sinapic acids. Most of the phenolic acids in beer are present as bound forms and only a small portion can be detected as free compounds. The content of the phenolic acids in the non-alcoholic beers is lower than in the alcoholic beers mainly due to differences in the production process, yeast strains used, dealcoholization of beer etc..展开更多

The metabolic model applied in this study includes the Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway, the pentose phosphate pathway, the tricarboxylic acid cycle,CO2 anaplerotic reactions, ethanol and acetate formation, and pathways involved in amino acid synthesis. The approach of hybridized genetic algorithm combined with the sequential simplex technique was used to optimize a quadratic error function without the requirement of the information on the partial derivatives. The impact of some key pa-rameters on the algorithm was studied. This approach was proved to be rapid and numerically stable in the analysis of the central metabolism of S.cerevisiae.展开更多

Although his use of the commercial serves his purpose, Zizek only dedicates one paragraph to it. This work significantly expands Zizek's initial interpretation by (1) contextualizing the commercial's plotline via comparison to other, similar mythological plots; (2) examining how the visual arrangement and narrative structure work to construct gender; and (3) addressing beauty via the Lacanian "demand" and "desires" made manifest within the text.展开更多

It was found that 17% of barley samples were contaminated with MT; in two cases (5%), the MT concentration exceeded maximum allowable levels (MAL). Among malt samples in more than half (in 56%) MT were detected, in 9% of samples, the MT concentration exceeded MAL (Aft-3 incidents, T-2-3 incidents, OTA-2 incidents, ZEA-1 incident). Maximum levels ofmycotoxins in malt were found to be higher than those in barley. These facts support the idea about risky conditions during malting processing.展开更多

"Birra Peja" brewery, Peja, Kosovo, this study did an evaluation of beer produced using six different malts. Four of the six studied malts were produced in four European countries: Ukraine, Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo; and, the other two malts were obtained from two (2) 30:70 proportion mixtures: one from Kosovo and Ukraine and another one from Kosovo and Croatia. Chemical, microbiological, sensory and tasting analyses were carried on beers produced by these malts. The study included three working groups from: "Birra Peja"; the Agricultural University of Tirana, Albania and "Union Brewery", Ljubljana, Slovenia. Chemical and microbiological tests were based on methods under the EBC (European Beer Convention) and MEBAK (Mitteleurop^iische Brautechnische Analysenkommision e.V.) guidelines. The analyses and assessments made for the quality of beer have come to the conclusion that beer produced by Croatian origin malt corresponds to a better quality beer.展开更多

The aim at this study was to explore the habits of taking medications without recommendation fracture among older patients, to determine which medications are most often used without prescription, and if there is difference in this habits considering gender and age of respondents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by interviewing all patients 〉 65 years that have arrived from 01.10. to 15.12.2015 in one ambulance of the Health Center of Mostar using the adapted questionnaire made out for the research. 90 questionnaires were properly filled for analysis, 60.0% were women and 40.0% of them were men. There was 45.6% respondents between 65 and 75 years, and 54.4% 76 years and above. Resaults: 15.6% of respondents said that they don't take their therapy regularly. Women compared to men, significantly more often use non-prescription drugs (P = 0.007). Analgesics and sedatives are more often used as non-prescription drugs, compare to supplements (P = 0.002). Conclusion: This study, although conducted on a small sample should be an alarm for general practitioners. They should think more about adverse effects of drugs on the aged, and use Beers criteria in every day practice. In addition, pharmacists should respect the legislation and not sell drugs without doctor's prescription to which it applies.展开更多

文摘The effects of different microbes on fermenting feed for sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) were compared to select the optimal fermentation strain in this study. This research developed a new production method of fermentation feed for sea cucumber.

文摘Asymmetric synthesis of (-)-1-trimethylsilyl-ethanol with immobilized Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells in water/organic solvent biphasic system was studied. To our best knowledge, this is the most satisfactory result obtained.
文摘Beer fermentation is a dynamic process that must be guided along a temperature profile to obtain the desired results. The satisfactory results obtained did not require much computation effort.

文摘In order to improve the performance of peer-to-peer files sharing system under mobile distributed en- vironments, a novel always-optimally-coordinated (AOC) criterion and corresponding candidate selection algorithm are proposed in this paper. The simulation results show that when using the AOC based peer selection algorithm, system performance is much better than the rain-hops scheme, with files successful transfer rate improved more than 50% and transfer time re- duced at least 20%.
文摘Beer can be a rich source of phenolic acids in the diet. The content of the phenolic acids in the non-alcoholic beers is lower than in the alcoholic beers mainly due to differences in the production process, yeast strains used, dealcoholization of beer etc..

文摘A scheme of investigating the intracellular metabolic fluxes in central metabolism of Saccharomyces cerevisiae based on isotope model and tracer experiment was developed. This approach was proved to be rapid and numerically stable in the analysis of the central metabolism of S.cerevisiae.
文摘In How to Read Lacan, noted cultural theorist, Slavoj Zizek, addresses a "comedic," British, beer commercial to highlight an element of Lacanian psychoanalysis (i.e., obj et petit a). Although his use of the commercial serves his purpose, Zizek only dedicates one paragraph to it. This work significantly expands Zizek's initial interpretation by (1) contextualizing the commercial's plotline via comparison to other, similar mythological plots; (2) examining how the visual arrangement and narrative structure work to construct gender; and (3) addressing beauty via the Lacanian "demand" and "desires" made manifest within the text.
文摘The objective of this research is to investigate a new concept model of brand equity measurement in the economy beer industry of Thailand by using five factors of brand equity which are brand awareness, brand liking, brand purchase intention, brand satisfaction and brand loyalty along with the consumer behavior. The respondents are 379 males and females who have at least occasionally had a beer during the past few years. The findings show that males are more likely to drink beer regularly and in larger quantities. The average respondent seems to drink beer in order to relax and socialize at parties. Respondents recognize Leo beer more than the other two brands in this study. Descriptive statistics and statistical analysis are presented for individuals, managers, as well as for advertising and marketing professionals. Suggestions and links for personal brand building are also offered.
文摘The levels of five mycotoxins (MT): deoxynivalenol (DON), T-2-toxin (T-2), zearalenone (ZEA), aflatoxin (Aft), ochratoxin A (OTA) were measured in malting barley and malt samples by enzyme immunoassay (ELISA), using test systems RIDASCREEN FAST (R-Biopharm, Germany). 40 samples of malting barley, mainly from the Central part of European Russia and fewer from the Southern part of, and also some samples from Altai (Asian Russia) were analyzed during 2007-2011 years as well as 120 samples of malt from Russian malting companies. These facts support the idea about risky conditions during malting processing.
文摘Aiming to optimize the beer production process by improving the properties of beer and reducing production costs at the J.S.C. The analyses and assessments made for the quality of beer have come to the conclusion that beer produced by Croatian origin malt corresponds to a better quality beer.
文摘Elderly patients over 65, especially those over 75 years are more vulnerable to being prescribed inappropriate medications because of the high incidence of co-medication in this population resulting from the presence of multiple chronic diseases and also age-related changes in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. In addition, pharmacists should respect the legislation and not sell drugs without doctor's prescription to which it applies.
文摘The main objective of this study is to analyze through tripod strategy Peng, the basics of why the acquisition and sale of Grupo Modelo (which it is the largest brewer in Mexico with the highest market share) through analysis of the annual reports of the company. The analysis will be supported under three main theories: theory of industry, theory of resources and capabilities, and ultimately theory of institutions. The paper concludes with a compilation and analysis of information giving rise to answer the question why 6rupo Modelo sold? And if have you had a positive result in the acquisition of Grupo Modelo by the company ABI? The answer is yes. The sale price of the shares by Grupo Modelo was very high and it received an award of 30% over the closing price of the shares of the C series in 2012. So it was a good sale regarding previous observations.
文摘The presence of deoxynivalenol (DON), total aflatoxins, ochratoxin (OTA) and zearalenone (ZEA) was investigated in malting barley samples harvested in Romania using an ELISA method (VERATOX, Neogen). In 7 out of 14 barley samples the aflatoxins were not found at detectable levels (50%). In 9 out of 14 barley samples the OTA was not found at detectable levels (64.29%). In 1 out of 14 barley samples the DON was not found at detectable levels (7.14%). In 13 out of 14 barley samples (92.86%) the ZEA was above the acceptable limit (100μg/kg). For all barley samples the aflatoxins, DON and OTA were in line with European Union regulations in force (4.0 μg/kg for aflatoxins, 1,250.0μg/kg for DON, 5.0 μg/kg for OTA, respectively).
